Banded is a nice newbie set of armor. There are thirteen (13) pieces in the set (Belt, Boots, Bracer [2], Cloak, Gauntlets, Gorget, Helm, Leggings, Mail, Mantle, Mask, Sleeves). The whole set of armor will give you +91 to your armor class (thats with 2 bracers). When I first started EQ banded was really popular and would sell for 2pp per ac point. This was pre-bazaar. Now you can get various piece in the bazaar for fairly cheap from those trying to up their blacksmithing skills.

Just noticed my banded boots are magic. Forged two more pair to check the results. Both are magic. Since one of my characters is a warrior and does a lot of kicking, I will test this in the field shortly. Checked my bronze boots and they remain non-magical.

Yes, imagine my surprise while for days of not being able to use my Kick attack on most creatures in Unrest, suddenly (and accidentally) I kicked a Lurking Mummy for damage. After the battle I immediately checked the boots and also noticed they were magical. I didn't know if it was a glitch or a bug, but I wasn't going to complain.

Call me stupid, call me what you will, but what does magick have to do with anything. How does magick help these boots. I have a pair, but I don't know what they do to help me, besides provide me with AC. Just curious.

If you have the kick command and you kick something that you need to attack with a magic weapon, such as a willowisp, then you need magic boots to be able to kick it for damage. Same with Monks they need magic gloves and boots to punch and kick creatures that only take damage from magic weapons.
