These things are very rare drops... Been there 3 days in a row and they are just not dropping for me... I'd also like to know the respawn timer on these guys.. If someone could tell me that would be great. Thanks

while i agree that's high, it's simple economics.

this is a rare item in the bazaar for your server, due to lack of competition, it'll start very high. folks will either get their own or buy it from the bazaar--or bide their time vendor-diving hoping someone sold it off not know what they had.

the drop is rare, the mobs that drop it are located in a far off zone, and it's a quest component for a ALL/ALL illusion clickie.

thus, it's priced as high as it is. let a couple more end up and start a price war, the price'll come down.

I just started hunting in WW and a fur dropped. No one had it for sale in the Bazaar so I could not get a price check so I set it for 810 pp. Sold no problem.

Went back and hunted a couple more. This time a seller had them for sale for 2400pp so I priced mine at 1200 and sold them both overnight.

Fairly rare drop in Western Wastes. Not a lot of Mastodons and a bug seems to put 3 of them out of reach in the ocean. I can track them to the zone edge but they aren't there although I can hear them. The ones I do find don't drop very often.

After the last patch the whole zone seems to have more mobs running around. More Ice Burrowers and Mastodons for sure.

For Druids, as soon as you leave the tunnel coming into the zone from Sirens Grotto you will usually find that track will point you to some Brontotheriums and Mastodons that are stuck in the geometry right at the tunnel exit. You can't see them, but they are there. The druid "Sense Animal" spell is wonderful to find and target them.

I typically charm a bronto for a pet. Snare him, cast Glamour of Tunare, and then charm him. He has a lot of HP, I don't usually buf him. For me charm usually lasts quite a while. This zone is great for druid animal spells.

I then find a Mastodon and snare him. I used to root him but I finally figured out my little used repulse animal spell might be good and it was GREAT. Dot him, sick my pet on him and fear him. Just sit back and watch. Fights usually take a lot out of my pet and I usually had to heal but with Repulse Animal there is basically no damage. It's kind of funny to see two snared animals snailing across the snow.

Velium Hounds make fine pets too but they're faster and harder to snare. They break root more often.

I went 0 for 5 or 6 the other night in drops for Velium Mastodon Fur then the next night had two in a row and then 3 with nothing. Its quite variable but seems to be 1 in 5 I'd guess, or around that.

At the moment I have no problem selling Mastodon fur in the Bazaar. I still have the price at 1200pp and they all sell. There is only one other seller

Yeah, they and a few other mobs seem to be getting stuck in the side of the cave - left from the zoneout to SG, if youre facing out of the tunnel. Got a bit curious and played an AE, had about 8 mobs jump out of the wall at me, a couple had trouble getting out. Besides the two that couldn't get out, none were in the wall when I came back the next day so decent chance they're just spawning there, but not pathing there.

This is found on the Glacier Mastadons and on Tantor, the L63 named Mastadon, in Western Wastes. I'd estimate drop rate at 1 in 10-15 for getting a hide. Rarity *should* read RARE.

I'n my experience it's more like 1 in 6-9, I don't seem to be short of these when hunting here.
