Stick of Fury
# Nov 03 2004 at 7:19 AM Rating: Default
There is a new OoW 2HB which is basically a dropable version of this. Called Stick of Fury. 50/41 100dd proc. Stats are a tad better on the stick and the 100dd proc makes up for the slight lack of damage ratio since GSo4W only has 75dd proc.

Also, SoF seems to be extremely common. Bought one on Tunare for 5k tonight. SoFW was still 35k and sucks compared to this.

Just thought I would add that GSOT4W has a 30% proc mod. So kinda hard to say the Stick of fury's proc is better

just a thought......but isnt the staff that emp ssra drops WAY better than this? and for monks only....so why waste this on a monk. if u can take out this guy you can take out the emp.
RE: hmm
# Jul 10 2004 at 6:49 PM Rating: Decent
no you couldn't lol. Emp is > This mob. ALOT >

For one CC isn't even a issue for this dude, Emp requires good CC, need bane weapons to even damage emp, this dude can be hit with any magickal weapon. Emp has a bajillion HP, this dude has like a weak 100k. Emp needs a key an CAN NOT be pushed into his room, this guy can be.

So read up before posting for christs sake.

Ok to the person about 2 posts under me, number one, those other items are better but you gotta think about what they drop from. Most of those mobs require full raids and are for planar progression while the mob that drops this staff can be done with 5 - 6 people (on personal experience and only the tank is elemental equiped) so saying as you did maybe true, but also this item is A LOT more common and more people are going to have these than the items you linked because of rarity and the mobs that drop them.
It's BER useable too!

First off let me say that I have both a 65 monk and a 65 paladin I use to play, both which had this weapon. Let me also say that a vast majority of these people are only speculating and going on what they think, they have never actually played most of the classes they are flamming on who shouldn't get staff, such as Chingwon. You sir are in fact wrong on many levels. On my paladin I also had the Blackblade of Rain and the Twice Forged Steel Bulwark (both of which rotted nearly everytime we did a Tower raid) which I would say are of equal value considering they come off the same mob. Well at the time I recall soloing and on average would take 8-15% dmg when using the staff compared to 18-25% when using sword/shield combo which was with 100 more hp and 50more ac. Obviously 2h was the way to go, and that was without the AA abilities that benefit 2h even further. As for grouping? 100hp and 50ac v the much greater dps from 2h, the hp and ac really didn't justify the lose of dps, especially with a cleric or druid CHing. Monk it was a little tougher to say, but the staff v 1h weaps was more dmg also. Those saying that this is by far the best ranger weapon befor elements are foolish and have yet to actually look up some weapons. Examples? Rng only Warder's Ornate Broadsword, and Monk/bst lord only Wraith of Mithanial. Granted paladin's also get a Resplendant War Maul but I don't see many paladins ******** "this greatstaff is the BEST weapon we get before ele hands down! Nearly every class gets a few other good weapns besides this staff so I don't even wanna hear people complaining about paladins getting all these other uber weapons. If they do get any better, they are harder to get and besides.. the fact is ranger do MUCH more dmg with an equivalent bow, if you are using a melee weapon you are either too poor to get a good bow, on crack, OR there is a small chance there is not enough room/wall mob and you do have to melee.

Misunderstanding
# Mar 05 2004 at 3:30 PM Rating: Decent
I am simply stating what I have seen, and from my experieinces. You make a few valid points. Yes every class could use this under certain circumstances, and yes it is nice for anyone who can use, but I was simply stating who would get the MOST use out of it. I agree with your analysis of why and how everyone would should get how they would use it but you totally missed my point. I have seen far too many rangers get this staff and they don't even humor the raid by using it, they put it in a bag and go back to using a bow right after they recieve it. Bow dmg is by far more dps then using this staff unless you have a low end bow. Will a ranger use this if a wall is mobbed or if the quarters are too cramped to fight in? Sure, but they will first tell you to get the mob outta the wall and go back to shooting it. No monk or ranger is EVER going to be asked to tank, hands down. They MIGHT tank if you are on a LDoN and the mt goes ld, sure, but they will never be picked up and asked to tank, that would be foolish and too mana intensive on the cleric. As for other weapons available to paladins? Yeah, there are quite a few but most are usable by every other class who can also use this weapon other then the 2hs who monks and bst lrods cannot use. They make up for this with just as many 2hb monk/bst only weapons though. If you ever have looked at the AAs you will also notice that there are half a dozen that benefit 2h weapons and there are about.. none that benefit using a 1hs. This would definetly be a paladin or sk main weapon. Unless you have a very uber shield and 1h this going to be a better bet then using the black blade of rain and bulwark. With all the AAs(2hbash, incease double hit, triple hitting), the substantial more dps, and less reposte and rage dmg from mobs this is simply a better bet. A warrior will always use duel wield with 1handers to hold agro as a MT, rangers would use a bow 90% of the time. Monks would also probably use this as their main weapon. Anyways I am done posting on this subject, all I wil lsay is yes it is a fine weapon for anyone who can use or need and I am not by any means saying certain classes shouldn't get it, I am just saying people should stop being greedy and if they have a dozen options available and won't use this weapon much then they really should not be asking for it unless there is no one else who can use it as much.
RE: Misunderstanding
# Sep 05 2004 at 6:50 AM Rating: Decent
You have no real clue here. I have a 65 ranger , I have been picked up as Main Tank for several LDoN groups. Why? Because I can tank LDoN normal adventures. The is a good weapon for when I need to tank. I have no problem tanking the named LDoN normal mobs either. Heck, I have even been taken as groups Main Tank in BoT. Don't say its not possible till you tried it in a group for yourself. Rangers can do alot more than sit back and shoot a bow. My melee dps is right at the same level as my bow dps. I use a Warmaster Recurved Bow from Tallon Zek. If the ranger has the right aa's there is alot he can do. I spend 90% of my time as a melee type not as ranged attacker. Doing BoT Towers , I was in melee more than I used my bow, because when I meleed I helped keep more people from getting hit and needing heals. So the main tank in the raid got more attention. How did I do that? Because I am a 1400+ ac , 6500 hp , all defensive Ranger. I just dont take the damage that the Paladins/Beast Lords/Monks and Casters were taking. I still think all classes listed should get a shot at this weapon. I just hate that people seem to think that some classes should get less consideration than others because sometimes they might not use this weapon. Even monks dont use it all the time.
#REDACTED, Posted: Feb 29 2004 at 10:11 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Yes, i can hold agro quite easily with a windblade using stuns, as long as i use enough. Hell, i could hold agro with any weapon as long as i chain cast stun. I was only stating this would be easier by far to hold agro with. Enough of that though, when I posted that message I was thinking of everything factored in. You have to take into account that monks/war are not going to use 125mana and 10wis/int? Thats a nice chunk of stats you arn't even going to use as a monk/war plus if you parse out a Staff of the Flowing water and this you will see this isn't even that much better. 42/34, 41/31... ??
RE: Um.. no
# Mar 01 2004 at 11:09 AM Rating: Good
*sigh*

It saddens me to see a post like this.

I am a level 65 monk on Innoruuk. I'm going to respond simply to "Deethleech."

GSoFW is a very nice weapon for anyone listed. Lets take a look at each class:

War - Great Dmg/Dly and not too much agro. Why is this good? Because you don't want to be proc'ing your hate weapons on a raid stealing agro from the main tank. With a 2h weapon you actually end up doing more damage on high ac mobs (as many raid targets are) so this would be a very nice benefit for any warrior. (And what warrior doesn't have 2 bags full of situational weapons?)

Pal/Shad - 2h weapons help increse the dps for the knights, as well as lowering the riposte that they will see with a 1h/shield. Neither class needs the proc for agro, so the stats make a nice addition. Combined with their AA abilities, this can work out to be a fair dps value (for a knight of course.) Just for kicks I'd like to add in that knights get a crapload of *knight only* drops from Luclin and PoP. You may or may not see those, but for certain if your guild is killing mobs that drop a sk/pal weapon that is better and you ask for this, I imagine some people are going to be a bit miffed.

Rng - Often rangers have Ele bows or decent 1handers. Epics? Primary epic is near worthless these days (14/24 + 50% proc slow, that's great for soloers..that's about it.) Offhand is great for the effect, but becomes once again worthless when you start getting higher atk items and a 41% haste item. When would they use this? Any time that a mob is walled or fight areas are to compact to step back and use a bow, for one. The stats are great for a ranger and sometimes rangers tank, and a 2h weapon once again will help with dealing with those riposts.

Monk - Monks will get the most DPS value from this weapon, but it is not the best weapon out there for them nor is it the most readily available. A good 2h weapon however will always be needed because like rangers, monks end up tanking some and the stats and ripost advantage are huge (More so than the other listed classes because of their lower mitigation value.) Wrath of mithaniel is an alright weapon, as is SoFW. Slaves Hidden Orb and Golden Wraps or Club of the Mad Researcher combined would outdo this, but if your guild is raiding towers it's an easy way to go (and a lot more common than SoFW really.)

Bst - Beasts get more of a benefit from using h2h weapons than 2hb, but just as any other class it's easy for them to get agro, and having 2 procing 1handers won't necessarily be the best thing when you're raiding (or fightin in GoD for that matter.) I have yet to see a beastlord with this particular 2hb, as most will not sacrifice the lower atk for the stats.

As far as any paly banking this weapon in favor of 1h? I know many that would bag a 2h, because of the increased mitigation value from a shield (as well as increased stats generally from 1h/shield combo.) If you *only* ever use 2h, then you have not done enough research to learn the benefits of all areas that your class can provide.

Good luck

tons of warriors do NOT have bags full of situational weapons, or even bags for of weapons for that matter....all the other classes gripe and say it will benefit them more so they always get them over the wars lol........im ep enabled and only have i think 3 baged weapons ( including this ). as for rangers saying this is the best weapon for them lol rangers are all about 1h stuff, look at their aa's, they almost ALWAYS duel wield and dubble attack, oh and look up sparkaling shortsword and the whip from poE or katar from ssra.....all FAR better for a ranger than this. imo this would be wasted on a ranger. pretty good for all the other classes tho, really no class other than ranger that would not benefit from it.

( oh and that was from a meele standpoint, rangers do far better dps with bows hands down over one handers, this staff doesnt even compare with am3/quiv rangers once they 65, and am3/quiv ( which they should have )

Monk weapon? Says who?
# Feb 20 2004 at 11:34 AM Rating: Good
My guild was going after this guy and there were no monks logged on. It was decided to log on a monk (whose account info the guild had) so someone could two box him up there with the guild to loot this staff because it is a "monk weapon". Now I as a ranger, whose plan has been for a while to 1) get non-swifty haste, 2) get this weapon, 3) get punishing blade3 I found this absolutely horrible. Dual weild is broken and I wish people would realize that. I have accomplished step 1, and was looking forward to a chance at this weapon, and then I find out that not only will it be atomatically awarded to a monk ahead of me, but that if a monk isn't on, a monk will be logged on to loot it. Yes I can do good damage with my bow...until the mob is walled. Then my damage is cut in half.

I NEED a good two hander, and being told that I have no shot at this weapon because I'm not a monk and that this has somehow become labeled a "monk weapon" is frustrating to say the least. As others have said, this is one of the best weapon a ranger can get outside elementals.
RE: Monk weapon? Says who?

rangers are NOT about 2 handers.....they have like 8 diferent aa's making them duelweild, dubble attack and use 1h weapons more efficiently....id kill for those aa's as a warrior....but we get flurry to make up for it so we can attack 5 times with a 2 hander instead of a rangers 3. rangers should be bowing, if they cant they should be 1h'ing the mobs back or sides. if u cant hit the back or sides.......well ur tanks a moron and should learn how to place mobs.....and casters should learn how to push them where they want them. then you dont even have to use 1h'ers. would be a total waste on a ranger ( i have this weapon and could care less who gets it now, but i would not like seeing it get wasted, its a really underestimated weapon. and for the classes that can really benefit from it..godly ( war/mnk/zerker ) as for pallys repugnant war maul is WAY better than this and attainable if u can get this. as for sk's.....eh...wouldnt be a bad weapon for them, but there are some really nice other things for them, greatblade of pestilence possibly ( not saying dont go for this if u are a pally/sk just sayin there are better and can get them if u can get this.

This is really a great weapon for anyone who can get their hands on it. Of course there are much better pal/sk only weapons but there are just as many if not more monk/bst only ones too. As a pally or sk I would definetly aye or roll on this weapon, it has substantial wis/int and mana also which only the paly/sk/bst have any use for whatsoever. Other then Elemental weapons or huge raid encounters I don't know of a better weapon. 2hb is not a big deal imo and considering the best droppable weapon for pal/sk and some other classes is the 2hb Vanazir, Dreamer's Dispair or whatever with 60/38. As for rangers getting this weapon I don't know. It's a tough call and if I were to award I probably would give to rangers last considering the sheer amount of options they have available. Most rangers will probably bank this weapon and use their bow becuase the dps would be much greater but I could be wrong. Anyways, I hope to get this weapon sometime soon, I have been lucky enough to score the mantle off Icestorm and the 1hs pally off the guy that drops this and am hoping for the staff for more dps. It's semi-tough holding agro with a windblade, but very doable with stuns, this weapon would make my job a whole lot easier. Only been on a dozen raids trying to get this and have yet to score, maybe soon though /shrug

I am indifferent to other classes getting this, I'm just sick of seeing ranger after ranger after ranger with this weapon and simply use their bow the entire time in-group while I'm using a Staff of Flowing Water ... it's not like rangers or pallys or SKs are going to get much use out of this...

Rangers also do not like Blunt weapons, in fact, you hardly ever see a blunt weapon with RNG on it.

Got it the other day, at lvl 62 without shammy buffs and just a str buff I am hitting for around 265ish I guess. While Innderflame was active most I have seen myself do is 522 dmg. Granted this is after only one half day of playing with my new toy but so far I am happy with it. Procs very frequently, for me generally 5-7 times per mob in BoT.

Hypotheticle question here: I have this monster on my ogre warrior and am looking into EverFrost "Anger III" augments. So what do you think would draw more agro: this thing augmented with a "Marble Sphere of Ire", or Dual weilding the Great Blade of Storms and the Sword of Nochular, both with "Marble Sphere of Ire"'s. Before you start flaming me, let me say that I don't have the plat to but a Blade of Carnage, and yes, the augment will fit in ALL weapons now after a patch. Thank you.

( i could be wrong and zerkers or monks might also be able to get 5 swings per delay but i cannot remember their aa's too well. if u want some agro weapons and dont have the money to buy them, obsidian scimitar of war and ( if u can ) obsidian broad sword, both with anger 3 augs, that way u get 2 dd procs, one that lowers mobs ac ( creats huge agro ), great dps and stats ( far better than boc/hategiver/corel ) (( bloodfrenzy still beats them all by a bit tho )) obsidian is probly second best followed by broadsword.

lol pardon my grammer, spelling , ( )... i aint not didnt teach me self alot in school. lol actualy i just like to do it my way : ) ezer and i dont have to think about what im doing, just splash it all down.

Well, it depends on what your tanking sometimes. In PoP, the zone boss mobs hit really hard, so your gonna wanna tank with a 2hs or 2hb so you take less riposite damage. On the other hand, normal trash mobs are good to kill duel wielding cause you can fork out more dps, depending on what aa's you have. Just depends on your situation and what your tanking.

Maxium Duelblade

P.S. I use BoC with Anger3 aug and the PoI Hammer...my preferance for the time being.

A friend and me timed it with no buffs on. With GSofFW, I kill stuff in 25% less time than with my two 1hs'ers. So this is definatly better dps than dual wielding until I can get into PoTime that is.
After having played around with this thing for a month or so, it actually holds agro just a little better than dual wielding. So this is now my weapon of chioce. And I've almost got my 1150 points for Anger III. =]

I needed a good 2hander for tanking raid/high end mobs, so dropped an anger III on this myself. It works well at holding aggro, my riposte dmg dropped considerably, and my dps went up. I dont even use duel wield for trash now, since with aa's my dps with this is much better. Personally id say drop the aug on it, you wont be dissapointed.

Best DPS wep for most rangers, and with nerfed dual-wield, 2handing is an important option... Most of the rangers i know have there 2hb maxed or working on it. Furthermore: Monks have access to a variety of good to uber 2hb, rangers have less to choose, this staff is one of the best.

I knhow a few rangers who are tentatively working on their 2hb to keep it up for weapons like this. Not for their solo purposes, but to draw less agro or sustain less damage from damageshields. It's not the perfect weapon for all situations but to blame ppl stupid for it while their are very usefull situations for it ain't the smartest thing either.

Actually this is a top ranger weapon, and many rangers use 2HS and 2HB. I'm using a war marshall bladed staff, and putting DKP aside to get the staff.

It's a perfectly valid choice given ranger ATK, vulnerability to ripostes, AAs and dual wield being generally broken.

So you are correct about denouncing greed and stupidity, but not from the peoples who actually had earned enough DKP to win it.
It has become even cooler

Snagged a pair of these recently on Fennin Ro for myself (65 war) and my brothers 65 monk. First off, this thing procs like CRAZY. literally like every other swing. pretty sweet. Also, ya cant beat the ratio. For warriors at least, this is i think the 3rd best 2hb in the game. Monks its like top 10 cause they get some pretty wicked time staves. The damage output, especially fully raid buffed with this stick is huge. First you have an amazing ratio , and the delay can get pushed down REAL low w/ max haste, plus you got the proc that keeps going off. Only downside is the low dmg bonus due to the 31 delay, lol but hey, i'd rather have a low delay than a high dmg bonus. Great for when you arent MTing a raid and lethal in the hands of a monk/bst. Also great for pallys and SKs for the stats. As a warrior, i'd probably be the last to receive this if the other classes who could use were present, but when you've got friends in high places, theres no line for loot. Thanks to those 6 who helped me get 2 of these babies, you know who you are.

I agree Knokkak, this weapon is very nice and the proc is icing. 75 DD is not the best but is enough to **** off mobs, along with my stuns, by helping me maintain aggro, which is my job as a paladin. I am gonna use this now instead of my windblade. Gonna sell the ole axe. /auction WTS Windblade on the Zeb server. PST

Got this tonight on Luclin Server, Pretty easy fight. Only thing that sucks is the AE twirl/stun, its kinda annoying. But all in all, an easy fight.

If I am not mistaken, the proc was changed recently. Anyone have an updated pic?

You are mistaken, the proc has not changed. Battle Fist proc was changed recently, but nothing to this weapon.

BoT story!
# Apr 19 2003 at 4:40 PM Rating: Decent
I had just gotten my BOT flag one day and I zone in to explore and sure enough, curiousity killed this cat. However, when I got rezzed, it was a cleric from my guild. "Oh, hi" says I, but he told me he had just killed a mini boss that dropped a staff that was going to rot. So he takes his druid friend with her key and a chanter, and they all escort ME up to the high tower where it was rotting. Many evil looking things stood in our way, but we were able to invis through some of them. But we got to a point where we were on floating platforms and giants that could see invis.

The druid managed to lull about 15 giants ALL the way up. Needless to say I was sweating bullets. But somehow through matter of fate we made it all the way up and i looted this staff .. my first 10 minutes in BoT. Well, some say it's not that great, but it sure beats any weapon I've ever used, including windblade, epic, and my Lance of Thunder.

That's my story. I'm one lucky Paladin and I thank the cleric and his charm group that let me loot it. It was really exciting and I think it looks pretty cool. :)

edit: oh yeah, with Divine Might/Pious Might and this staff you proc almost CONSTANTLY. That's quite a bit of added dps. This staff procs a lot. And with FOS even more so. Really bad ***. :)

Don't forget the Grimling Crystal Ball +5% 2HB range slot.
I would drop my WB for this anytime.
