Farmed this for my cleric on Agnarr this date.

Set up right in front of VP entrance. Great spot because mobs pull themselves, plenty of wanderers come by. Supplement by running out into the fields nearby and drag more to the group.

Required 273 kills to get 4 shards. This is a better drop rate than suggested by Magelo so perhaps the frequency has been improved over time, or for TLP servers nowadays. Took about 5 hours, but some of which was interrupted by visits from Talendor.

Watch out for Talendor whose long wandering path brings him close enough to aggro. He has a HUGE aggro range. He can aggro even before you can see him. If your group can't handle him, and that's likely on Agnarr, zone into VP until he wanders off. His route is long, winding and slow so you have over an hour before you see him again.

I had bound my group ON TOP of the VP entrance, figuring no mobs wander up there. Incredibly, Talendor was still able to aggro as he appeared in the extended target window while we were rebuffing and he started casting damaging spells on the group. He didn't warp to us though. Not sure if he would have eventually. Our focus was on the shards so we evac'd.

I farmed near the Wizard portal for 7 - 8 hours and only got 1 pearl. Then I decided to farm near where Eldrig The Old spawns directly above the zone in to The OverThere. I got 3 Pearls to drop within a span of 45 minutes. Is this just RNG? I don't know. Either way I'll never farm by wizards portal again if I need pearls.

Have killed over 400 mobs in this zone. Not a single drop. This is insane.

I have spent the last 20 hours camping the zone with mostly lv60 players. At one point we had 2 groups in a raid killing everything in sight and I have yet to see a single fragment. This drop rate is just stupid.
Also drops from a skyfire drake

Luck was on your side. I think I spent several days on my first cleric camping these!

Drops off every mob in the Skyfire Mnts zone
# Jun 25 2011 at 9:46 AM Rating: Decent
This drops equally off of every mob in the Skyfire Mountains zone. Each mob has ~1% chance of dropping a Pearlescent Fragment. I got this information from Magelo's loot statistics for this item. There is no preferred spot or mob.

So kill any 400 mobs in Skyfire Mountains and on average you should have your four Pearlescent Fragments.

Pulled mobs with my level 90 Rogue to the hill next to the wall of the zone and Veeshan Peaks ZL.

I'd say the 400 mobs thing is pretty accurate. Maybe less though, or I just got lucky (If you call anything in this epic lucky)
First pull I grabbed 14 mobs - Logged over to my 41 Cleric and looted all the corpses, found one frag
Then pulled 76 - no frag
Then pulled 80 - No frag
Then pulled 62 - One frag
Then pulled 70something - 3 frags and one look alike (Defiant monk/bst h2h weapon that looked like a pearl LOL)
Luckily another cleric who was also working on their epic 1.0 zoned in minutes after I started attacking the huge swarm of mobs. So I was nice enough to /ooc that I had an extra pearl rotting for him/her... I mean, I know I'd like if it someone did that for me.

The HARDEST part of this nowdays would be pulling mass amounts of mobs and not losing them because of Run5 or your mount. Walking was way to slow and if I did it I was basically permastunned. So run like you're drunk (Weave in and out) to keep them from walking away from you

I just had 3 of these drop in 2 hours north of the wiz port while working on the Bard epic.
Drops from mobs and locs
# Oct 24 2009 at 1:32 AM Rating: Decent
First 2 I can't remember what dropped the fragments. Third was from Mature Chromadrac. Fourth was A Wurm. Took about 2-3 solid hours of killing. First drop was on eastern border of the pool of lava in NE middle of zone. Last 3 were directly south of the center lava pool and straight north of wizard port. Hope it helps anyone.

While some post amazingly quick numbers, I'm going to say the norm for this camp is "your patience will be tested."

If you are facing the entrance to VP, look to your right--you'll see a section of the mountain that ascends upwards--you can set up camp there, as NO roamers cross that area. I had two friends join on their alts (a warrior and druid, both below 60 at the time), and myself a 56 cleric. We got one fragment in about five hours of grinding, and it had dropped within the first 30 minutes (to taunt me apparently, with making me think I was in for a fast camp).

I didn't keep up with my timer past the first day, but it took me a solid week of playing to get all four gathered--roughly 4-8 hours a day/night of gaming, living in Skyfire. ...may I never see that zone again except to cross through it.
This is ULTRA RARE
# Oct 15 2008 at 1:28 AM Rating: Decent
When you kill over 1000 mobs in the zone and see not even a single drop it is NOT uncommon, it is Ultra Rare. So please change that "Rarity listing to Ultra rare as it should be listed. thanks

I guess SOE changed the loot table, or you must have had very very bad luck. About a year ago, we hunted in Skyfire (at the Dragon Ice Temple south of Overthere zoneline) and got all four fragments within 1,5 hours.

Do a /petition, and don't give up!
Very Rare Drops

I've been hunting at the BW wall for 6 days killing everything from the Lava river just north of it and not a single Pearlescent. I've had guildies and friends help even. A couple times we went all over the zone killing everything in sight and still not a one. They really really need to up the drop rate on these, especially since we need 4. Many times I've wanted to just say ----- it and give up on this epic. Is it really worth it. Now I understand why so many players end up going to other games. looking through the forms I can see its not just me. Difficult is one thing, but time consuming is unreasonable. Wake up Sony, wake up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On Sept 15 2008, I counted killing 183 mobs (pulling about 30-40 at a time and AEing the hell out of them) and not a single drop.
On Sept 16 2008, I counted killing 329 mobs and not a single drop.

So in total, without exaggerating, I've killed 512 mobs and haven't gotten A SINGLE FRAGMENT. Something most definitely has to be wrong maybe in the latest patch, because there's no possible way the odds of getting the drop is 1 in over 512. This is ridiculous. I've basically power-destroyed the entire zone a number of times now and haven't seen the shard. I've done this cleric epic a few times in the past and sure, this camp is time-consuming, but nothing at all like this. The other times I've done this I've gotten 1 drop in about 50 kills, right now it's nowhere near that.

Kalysta's advice remains good:

"Best spot to camp them I have found besides the front of VP area,(if you can handle multi at once) was at:

P -3046.4683, -5358.6616, -162.8559, 0, 0, 0, 2, fragment_camp_2

copy and paste to your Skyfire_1.txt file in your map folder.
They path right through. And many at once. Got 4 fragments in one night, 2 different 4 hour sessions. If you have others with you, you can also go grab the clumps in front of the vp entrance. "

In 5-6 hours at the VP entrance we succeeded in getting the 4 fragments. I have done the Overthere ZL and the Wizard port camps in the past. If you are lower level or not a strong group the wizard port seems to be the safest as far as mob difficulty and adds go.

Chromadacs dispell (like mad)but can drop the fragments. If you avoid them you seem to end up with alot of them pathing around. As a necro I kited them away from the group to minimize the buff loss.

Success fragment hunting varies... I have seen a cleric get all 4 in less than an hour, I have assisted a person that needed closer to 16 hours. Level 50s characters get decent xp in this zone and so many spells drop it is good to have lots of bag space.

Felia Goldenwing is a turn-in NPC for the chanter 1.0. She can be a pain to catch up. If you find her it is nice to make sure no chanters are in the zone, and I would check within guild if that applies too. She seems to get killed by other mobs in Skyfire and is apparently on the named cycle.

Oh... excited clerics make sure you look up Ragefire before doing your turn in. It is a good fight to overpower.

I pasted that loc into my map & the result was a location at the very top end of the zone where no creatures path.

Just east and a little north of wizard port, a tremendous variety of mobs path thru. I got 3 shards there when farming for my epic a few years back, with the assistance of many of my friends in The Honorable Few, Veeshan server.

I never got a fragment off a drake of any kind.
Or a devourer (flying sperm that makes splort noises)
I believe I got most of my drops from wyverns & wurms.

Figured I would share my experience with, by far, the longest camp in my epic quest so far.....I spent 3 days at around 2-3hrs each day camping the VT zone line with my 63 beast and 62 cleric killing single mobs with no drops. Finally after much frustration I employed the help of a 70 Warrior and 71 necro from my guild. After 6 hrs and 10 mob pulls I had all four fragments, 3 from VT zone line and last from wizard port. I'm guessing I caught the drop rate on a good day, or luck was on my side. Either way, Thanks Gymiee (70 Warrior) and Quazit (71 Necro) Guild-Pure Carnage-of the 7th Hammer. Couldn't have gotten it done w/o you guys. Good luck to all in search of your clicky rez.

I actually broke out my BL for a change and was taking out about 20 mobs at once. In 3 hours I ended up with 1. They really need to turn up the drop rate on these.

I've been late night hunting(untill 2:00 3:00 am.,EST)for the past 4 nights, and No luck. Been killing everything with my lvl 71 cleric, just self buffed and Celerity Potions, with out any problems. I guess I need to try some of these other places I read about in this thread.... Wish me luck, seems I'm going to need it... lol 8~}>>

After inlisting a little help, I got 1 fragment in like 10 min.... it must be that you need to kill a lot faster than a cleric can
