Level 65 gnome magician
# Sep 28 2005 at 2:52 PM Rating: Decent
My level 65 magician won this, because i was the only magician present. We did torment in about an hour and a half, it was a very fast raid. If you wish to see a screen shot, goto Www.Shattereddestinies.org and theres a screenshot with my character (piska) wearing the new shield. Burnout 5 is a rare scroll, i had not been able to find it so this shield was a real upgrade for me. It looks like a "rusting hero shield" only with no spike in the center. I want to also mention that the bards really helped with saryn; i burned through about 2 full mana bars over the course of the fight, using my 3-wave fire based DD. Saryn isnt a very advanced raid, and hardly anything good dropped in this entire zone. Good luck with getting shield of infinite teror tho.

If you read the notes, they say, "Effect has changed since screenshot, now Burnout V." The proper effect is Burnout V.

best part of it in my opinion is the open spell gem. I hate memming/ un memming (or would it be forgeting) spells and having this item will just be one less spell to keep up :-D
Maximum pet haste?
# Jul 09 2003 at 9:01 PM Rating: Decent
does BO V bring pets up to max haste? even though the enchanter and shaman haste spells stack with this?

Pet hastes do not stack with enc/shammy hastes wayiff. My main is a 63 Beastlord and we get Arag's Celerity which is an 85% pet haste, 115 str, 71 ac and 75 attk (sorry haven't got spell listing's next to me), and although when you do pet report it will have in some cases SoV and my pet haste it is because enc hastes also have an agi part which will be used by the pet.

I think maybe its because now Sony decide that they will not override haste slots, so when i group and we get an enc join i'll have either celerity (self buffed) or swift like wind (from the shammy) but then an enc can come along and SoV me and i'll still have both buff icons, even though the other two hastes have no effects other than haste.

Hope you can understand this and it helps

Come on, why must we always get an old version of Burnout on new items? Not that it's not a bad item, but by the time you get it you should already have Burnout 5, making the effect pretty worthless.

I personally don't play a mage, but a very good in-game buddy does and I managed to get a hold of one of these things for him not too long ago.

I play on the Firiona Vie server, where very few items are No Drop, so that probably colors my view on it a tad bit :-P

As a necro, I have to say that I LOVE my Vorshar's (ornate) pants simply because of the clickie pet haste on them. Yes, the stats are weak compared to all the wonderful things that have come out with GoD, OoW and DoN, but since my pet haste buff lasts only 15 minutes I keep the pants equipped so that the spell slot remains free and I can rebuff as I go. I assume that the mage pet haste works about the same and IMHO having a clickie to keep that spell slot free for something else is a godsend!

I guess if I was at the very top end-game raiding level I would see how someone would pass this item over, but I'm not and this item would fit me just fine in my style of relaxed play :-)

Not any different that Jaundiced Bone armor for Shamen, by the time you get it, you have one or even TWO upgrades to the spells the armor casts.

Of course, the difference with Planar items is since most of them are NO DROP, they can't be used to twink, which is what Jaundiced Bone is usually used for.

I guess the only thing you can say is "but it's manaless!"

not to complain, but look at all the mage right clickies from old world..... then complain =) i mean, mages can only tolerate so many right clickies of RECLAIM ENERGY!!!!

infinite terror till the pet holds out...
# Nov 19 2002 at 8:50 AM Rating: Decent
I think this ite,m turns the pet into an "infinite terror". Can we say this buff makes sparky the wonder pet into a molinex slicer and dicer?

Amazing Stats! AC +37 WOW! Amazing for a caster item. The +12 Stamina and +100 hitpoints are both a welcome sight. When the mages pet goes berserk and brings an uninvited guest to play.. it helps. The int and Mana bonuses are well worth it as well. It gives the mage better options at changing his gear around.

Infinite Terror is really a looped tape of a 6 hour marathon of Teletubbies.... great I scared myself...

Ever seen the mage epic pet with Muzzle of Mardu and Burnout IV? Yeah, its terrifying.

try a charmed mob in bastion of thunder with burnout 5 and muzzle. to the mage I've heard 1200dps. to a mob I recall that it was 600-800dps parsed. the taunt from one of those is so high that it'd take the taunt off of the 200aa+ warrior until he took it off tru taunts and EB. it was enough taunt that I'd be able to chain nuke SOS at 5.2 cast time.

Some people take this charm power, though, and think they're invulnurable. One guy tried to KS my group with one of those pets in the wing wing, and didn't know that you can force other people's charms to break even if theyre otuside your group. the bad mage got eaten, and the day was saved. tactics is sadly better :P.

now the mal line of clickies for mage, that's golden. almost as good, actually, as wizard Atol clickies.

I find charmed pets (other than DC) to be a total waste of time. I've been in too many groups with mages and chanters who can't control them. I always sit back and laugh when their charmed pet breaks and kills them. The cleric often goes oom healing the mage/chanter which sucks double in LDoN. One more reason to give mages summoned DC aa!
Odd effect for the name
# Nov 19 2002 at 1:13 AM Rating: Decent
I'd think that something named the Orb of Infinaite TERROR would have unlimited charged of FEAR?

Then again, no one ever said their naming scheme made any sence.

At this level fear doesn't do anything but generate ALOT of aggro. Alot of SK's use it for taunt when fighting high end mobs that are immune to it, it pisses them off. I'm sure a mage fearing would do the same. And really, unless you were just wanting to buy your pet some time to kill one mob by fearing an add (viable option), anything fearable wouldn't be an XP mob, and your pet would be able to kill them both while you were outside smoking or something...otherwise fear is only really useful when the mob is snared...then it's almost like cheating. I remember the first few times fear kiting on my SK, it almost felt like cheating...then in a couple levels mob HPs grew exponentially.

ROFL, fear.... for mages, they would never give mages the ability to fear, to many necro's would complain that a mage would surpass them in power, plus it would cause mages to be one of THE best solo'ing classes, passing druids and necros *snickers*, just my opinion. oh, /wave mira, glad to see another from Brell :)
RE: Odd effect for the name
# Mar 02 2003 at 10:06 PM Rating: Decent
Additionally as if you would be soloing at 65th level anyways when you finally got this shield. And at 65 when you farm what do you need to fear with Burnout V and Muzzle and epic pet?!

Without snare fear is useless unless you are cheating with pathing.
RE: Odd effect for the name
# Feb 27 2003 at 8:46 PM Rating: Decent
I dont see what the big deal would be if an item like this had fear on it, mages dont have snare so itd be risky to use fear in most places anyway. And an item this high end/rare not many mages would have it anyway, so any other classes not liking it should get over it.
RE: Odd effect for the name
# Sep 11 2003 at 9:06 PM Rating: Default
you are so right about a mage trying to fear kite like a necro snare is a must for a good fear kite i could just see the train wash over the mage fear kiting without snare sort of brings a tear to the eye of this necro because that knid of carnage is just beautiful
