Alright... got a poison making skill of 177 (including trophy) and can't make SSRA VIII, which is a trivia of 188. It replies with *You are too inexpierienced in your craft to even considering attempting this combination.*
Level 80 rogue, and i have no Aas in tradeskill mastery, or have any other tradeskills past 50.

The two high dps rogue poisons, which have all vendor bought components have minimum skill requirements higher than their trivials to keep from having a cheap / fast way to skill up.

They can be converted to tokens, so remember that if you are looking for them in bazaar.

These become containers once you fire them and can't be put in a trader's sachel to sell in the Bazaar. For this reason people in the bazaar sell the unfired version which is "Unfired Black Marble Mortar".

Buy this and put it in a kiln with a high quality firing sheet (No fail combine as far as I know. I've fired hundreds of things and never failed yet.) and you get "Marble Mortar and Pestle".

Im a 213 potter and I make 1 for 3 every time. Already made about 10 of these. There is to date no posion combine that would use a 10 slot mortar but im sure its coming. Yes you can use this mortar to do every combine you can do with the old one. I actually find the new posions to be a nice addition to my damage though its not as good as I would have hoped. Perhaps that is coming in tier 3 and 4 posions yet to be seen. Other then that its a 10 slot bag that holds large items, much better then the 6 slot I have been carrying around

Just to add something to that 1 of 3 ratio at 213: At pottery 208 (199 skill + geerlok) I tried to combine this thing around 25 times now with NO success. I'm beginning to suspect, that this thing will always fail.

I had success on my first try, but failed each subsequent attempt. My pottery skill is only 202, but I'm using the Journeyman Potter Trophy, which only raises it to 213.
Uses?

Can this M+p be used to make Celestial Essence(and other stuff like powdered stones)?
what's the point?

I sure hope their is some use for this other than being a 10 slot item. Someone post if you ever find out.

They're for making the new PoP poisons. VI must hate Rogues. It's so asenine to make us need this item to make the poisons.

If you wanna know, Rogue poisons SUCK. They take a ton of time and money to skill up (like any tradeskill), but the payoff is pathetic. With the old poisons, you can cough up around 8-10pp or so to make ONE DOSE of one poison. The poison effect works one time, and the effects are nice, but limited.

The new poisons give a Proc-Like effect with each dose, which is nice, but you have to be a damn good poison-maker to make them. The problem with that is, most Rogues aren't because getting better at this skill is time-consuming, bank-draining, and all around pretty boring.

The fact that you need a mortar and pestle that requires a Grandmaster Potter to create is just plain crazy, like they don't WANT us to use poisons or something.

I realize it's been almost 7 years since this post... but the new poisons are really quite nice.

2 All/All DPS poisons... DD + hate, DD
5 Rogue only DPS poisons... Fire DD, Cold DD, 2 normal DD, single shot (procs twice as hard, but only once)
7 Rogue only "utility" poisons... Snare, slow, agro debuf, clumsy, slow + clumsy, accuracy debuff, evasion debuff

all of the poisons (except the one rogue only single shot) now work like a buff... activating them poisons your weapon for up to 2 hours or 65 procs (whichever comes first).

also, rogues can use 1 DPS poison and 1 "utility" poison at the same time... so they can proc (for example) a Cold DD or a Snare on any given hit (with the appropriate poisons active).

I'm finally enjoying playing a rogue again! Smiley: cool

trivial is 250....

I had a potter 223 skill make mine. He made it the first try and was able to fire it aslo. Then he failed it on the second try w/ my extra componets.
Poison

This is used to combine components to make advanced poisons. This item is fairly expensive because the pottery components (black marbles) are in high demand, and the failure rate is extremely high. with 250 pottery, and a gm potter trophy, this was made 1 out of 5 tries

a regular mortar and pestle works just as well.
RE: 7+ Item Combine Poisons
# Jul 28 2005 at 7:59 PM Rating: Decent
Your statement is mostly right, however, the poisons made using the various sketches (See Master Sketch quest) use 7 items, because the sketch itself is used as a catalyst in the combine. (ie: You use the sketch in each combine, but it is returned and not consumed.) The only other 8 or 10-slot mortars out there are race-specific quests. (Vah Shir, Iksar)
