At the beginning of EQ, Jewelcraft made these sort of substandard items. When the skill was revamped, existing items got retagged "aged" and left in game. So far as I am aware, there is no means to produce more of these now - not that anyone would actually care. =)

No kidding. Some newcomers would flip out if they knew where tradeskills were 3 years ago. It's amazing how much crafting has evolved.

Yeah, but don't forget, that was also when the guy in a full set of bronze, with a shiny brass halberd was "uber equipped"

The tradeskills stuff, and the dropped stuff has evolved together.
