I have a solution to the "who should get this?" question.

Fight Aerin`Dar more than once.

It seems so complex and yet it's so simple. Yes, I know he's on a three day spawn.
Who cares

You need ID4 as an Sk to max out the damage improved HT can give. To br frank though alot of classes could beni from this item. So frankly why do you all sit here and debate over suck things over and over again? You guild wont let you roll? WTF you need a new guild.
RE: Who cares
# Aug 31 2004 at 9:53 AM Rating: Decent
actually, HT is considered a level 1 SK spell for us, all you need is improved damage 1 to max out HT damage. ID IV does help with lifetaps and spears, however...

Sorry, but if your guild ALONE takes this guy out, you shouldn't still be rolling. You should award loot by who needs it most.

Item is useful for SK's

A few months ago I was on an AD raid and the Honorary Amulet dropped.

I was very disappointed when they announced that only mages, wizzys and druids would be eligible to roll on this. I can understand the point of those classes and excluding others. However, I think excluding SK's is debatable. I have a 65 SK and the advantages of this item are more than just the stats. The ID 4 of this item increases our harmtouch not to mention increases our lifetaps. I have theft of life 3 and with our 65 Lifetap I crit for (940). I saw another SK on the raid do a heal crit for (1140 ish or so) and I asked him how he did that and he said that he has ID 4.

Although Lifetaps other than Zevfeer's bite are used primarily when in trouble I always have touch of innoruuk memmed and it can save your ***. The 1-1.5K damage added to our HT would be nice as well.

So basically I would agree that this is not a good item for classes other than a druid, mage, wiz but I also think SK's should be considered for this item when you look at the stats and how they can use it.

Who should get this?
# Mar 29 2004 at 8:21 AM Rating: Decent
Melee's get much better neck's and a Caster would benefit more from this than a Paladin/SK/War etc... I say this from a RAIDING aspect... now on a open raid I can see all rolling on this. GRATS to anyone who wins this nice Neck!
RE: Who should get this?
# May 24 2004 at 3:15 PM Rating: Default
Haha, why? Because it has ID4? I don't think so. Nukers can get better damage focus's. Reguardless tanks should aim for a huge amount of ac (I don't care what the soft cap is, it still helps) and this neck piece is a good start or at least something to wear until ya get VT or EP necks.
SK ITEM NEWBS :P
# Nov 24 2003 at 2:58 PM Rating: Default
This benfits raid more in the hands of an sk then a wizzy. Why? Sk's still tank on raid taking a Id4 barcer means i lose 40ish ac and about 50hp. Not to mention other stats str/sta mana and restances. wizzy loses less hp/ac and well it benfits them less. Also thier is good DROPABLE id4 items available to INT/WIS casters example ldon ID4 belt, burner of ro, bracers. With that said this a Hybrid item IMHO Ranger/beast/sk mainly Best statwise ID4and neck item till the EP's. well mabye Emp's neck or neck of aten is better. but FT casters>ft for hybrids so aten neck normal goes to Bard and casters. emp neck would be better for rangers(the 300hp buff is usefull for them, Sk's and beast have buffs that are better and wont stack)

Anyways 95% atleast of guilds that do AD will be some form of points. My 65sk will be biding alot more then my 65mage would for this item. I 2 box.

This must have been one of the most retarded comments I have ever read on any EQ related website. I'm so very thankful that you are not on my server and if you were, I'd be thankful not to share a guild tag. Any Shadowknight that thinks this is better for them than any nuking class makes me wonder how much they bought their char for on Ebay. My RL fiance's main is SK and when I showed him the above post, he got quite a laugh out of it as well.

ID4 is to improve nuking power, meaning that this is very ideal for ANY class that has DD spells of any kind. No, I'm not saying that an SK is not ideal, just that its MORE ideal for real nuking classes. To be honest, I don't see the point you make abuot this item having melee stats. The 2 main melee stats are strength and dexterity, stamina and agility are useful for ALL classes which at least 95% of people would agree with me on. There are WAY better neck items out there for tanking classes than this, with focus effect that is more suitable to melee classes.

Items like this should be left to these classes to roll...Wiz, Mag, Enc, Nec, Dru, Cle, Shm, Rng. But of course this is only my opinion. Greed runs through every server like some sort of plague. It sickens me to see posts like this and it sickens me to see people rolling for items they really don't need that other classes could make more use of. So, you got a real reason why this is better for an SK than it is for a Mage (or other nuking classes)? I'd honestly love to hear it.

Pally nukes
# Jan 20 2003 at 7:35 PM Rating: Decent
I could be mistaken but im sure pallys have quite a few Undead DDs lol. I think the 63 Nuke is about 5/600 dd to undead only). I think spell casting fury can increase this but not sure.
Anyways cant see any pally getting this before a Wiz, drood or Mage.

This neck item is very nice if your not equipt with VT armor. I was lucky enough to get it the first AD kill on my server but have since replaced it with VT loot. The real nice thing it gives the effect all the way to lvl 65 spells were my ring of the shissar don't work on my lvl 64 buff as it did with my lvl 60 buff. If you get this item, grats cause it will help with the nooks alot and it great if you can't kill in VT yet as hes not as hard as the VT named mobs, not even close.
lvl 65 Archanist aka Wizard Morell-Thule
#REDACTED, Posted: Nov 18 2002 at 7:15 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) ID4? Wizard first, mage second, SK / Paladin third. All in all though, nice item... and more than likely anyone wearing it could put it to good use.
RE: Nice...
# Mar 08 2004 at 3:24 PM Rating: Decent
SKs, maybe - Pallies only for the stats, but what about your BSTs? A moderate amount of their DPS comes from nukage, and they have few neck items with equivalent AC.
RE: Nice...
# Nov 21 2002 at 5:05 PM Rating: Decent
LMAO pally/sk third? How bout droods dude. Get real. I'd then give to necros, yes necros. We have a necro with crit hits that nukes for 1800+ now. SK/pally would be after even clerics and chanters cuz even they get a 1100 nuke now. And yes, when fighting big mobs, I nuke all the time as a chanter. If theyre slowable (or a plethera of clerics at raid), so do clerics.

If it made a HUGE difference in taunt for pally/sk to have this, they'd be screamin for id4 bracers in bazaar all the time, but they don't. Cause it doesn't (20% added to 400 lifetap, best sk nuke, is merely 80pts TOPS, 20% to 1100 nuke is 220 - do the math), so they go to the back of the line for this fine item. Give it to people that actually do dmg with their nukes.

The rarity of id4 items alone screams pure casters, dont go giving away one of the few benefits they get.
RE: Nice...
# Jan 04 2004 at 1:02 PM Rating: Default
about every spell an SK casts is a direct damage nuke (touch of innoruk, zevfeer's bite, aura of hate, aura of pain, spear of decay, scythe of innoruuk, deny undead are all level 62+ SK nuke spells), and ID4 items with decent stats are pretty hard to find for SKs while they're common for wizards/mages/etc.

don't be surprised when you see an SK spending DKP to get this or the RZtW mask.
#REDACTED, Posted: Dec 29 2002 at 7:54 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) As with all the lewtery. Give nuke boosters to a wizard. Get real. Most high end wizards can crit for 6k. If you think that necros outnuke wizards, youre a *loser*.
RE: Nice...
# Apr 16 2004 at 8:45 AM Rating: Decent
Err - the original poster *did* list Wizards as first choice. Folks here are squabbling about 2nd place :).

In actuality, most wizzies will have some sort of ID4 item by this point; but it's always good to get items with foci on them that are actually nice in and of themselves ;). The only time this did drop when we were doing AD, it was left open to the entire guild for rolls, since all our wizards did have some kind of ID4 item. I think a Mage won; they have very nice DDs as well, and probably wanted to upgrade their Gallenite's Ruby Bracelet wrist slot.

Wiz can crit for 7k+ kthx
#REDACTED, Posted: Nov 25 2002 at 12:03 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Not to mention paladins get an AA ability that allows them to crit with thier weapons... imagine tacking on ID4 to that. I can see paladins doing with crit damage what wizards do in manaburn.
RE: Nice...
# Nov 30 2002 at 6:30 PM Rating: Decent
You are mistaken.

Paladins get Slay Undead AA ability.

This allows crits from Combat Fury 3 to turn into massive crits against undead.

There is no magic involved.

The only DD nuke spell paladins can cast is Flame of Light, 125 DD.

Focus effects do not effect weapon procs the last time I heard.

We can train Spell Casting Fury that will affect weapon procs, which make for nice effects with Healing Gift / Healing Adept if you have a LT weapon.

Watched a paladin get a crit slay undead hit for 18,000 and change. I had to screenshot it. Was on some mob in Sol Ro Tower, Paladin was Duke titled and buffed to the gills. If i remember correctly, it was 18,461. Not bad for an AA Crit Cleansing from a 65 Lord Protector =)

actually, you are wrong, there is an aa pop ability that gives all melees the ability to critical proc.
RE: Nice...
# Mar 17 2003 at 6:53 PM Rating: Default
Actually, you are wrong...

His point was the focus effects don't add to proc's. It would be a waste for a pally to have a ID4 item. The time wasted on casting would be better spent hitting melee, and the ID4 item would never be used.
RE: Nice...
# Nov 23 2002 at 2:47 AM Rating: Default
Not diagreeing necessarily, but if ID4 also affects HTs, an SK with Unholy Aura and all the AA abilities that affect HT could do some serious damage with one of these. With SCF3, UA and UT3, a single HT can lay some serious hurt. Add 20%, and it becomes downright wiz-worthy.

Moreover, with Theft of Life and Soul Abrasion, an SKs lifetaps can do substantially more than 400.

For SK boosting HT, even a Improved Damage I item will do the trick.

Don't get me wrong, If I were given the chance to roll on this I wouldn't be able to resist temptation and say "pass" just so a Wizard had a better chance. But if I won it I would pass along my Mask of the Dragon Slayer (ID3) to someone worthy. :)
RE: Nice...
# Dec 16 2002 at 8:25 PM Rating: Default
Only one problem with that concept. I could be wrong as I have not played an SK in the high-end game... however, it has always been my understanding that you can only HT once ever 72 minutes (or some similar long amount of time). If thats the case, you would give an ID4 item to an SK so every 72 minutes they can deal an extra 20% damage instead of a wizard or magician that can do an extra 20% damage every time they cast a nuke (about 5-10 seconds minimum)?

SK's get an entire line of nuke spells that cast in 0.5 second, our post 60 lifetaps do good damage, our HT can crit over 8k(and we have aa that let's us HT more frequently), and the shared line of undead nukes with pallys.
Since slightly before planes of power came out SK's can deal a good amount of DD damage.

I'd like to see this go to a wizard, or possibly a mage with their new found role as damage dealers. With the AC, mana and hp's on this combined with 25 vs magic, who would say no to it?

# Nov 05 2002 at 12:14 PM Rating: Default
okay this is just MHO but this looks to be a great sk/wizzy item, necros i think would rather have somthing with extented affliction for the dots we cast or maybe a flowing thought item. and yes i agree the talisman of Vah`kerrath is by far better but why are you comparing the 2? both look to be a pain to obtain seeing that most of the time these zones are already camped by the uber guilds and it will take a guild to obtain these it may be awhile before your guild decides who should get it first. both have their own benifits and should go to whoever could make most use of them. next thing you know a druid will be wanting one hahahahaha, even though most ppl know by now that druids post 60 don't do much nuking.

Yes thats right.. SHADOW KNIGHTS! This nifty Item would Impove Lifetaps, HT, and Nukes (see new spear line of spells and Undead nukes). Lifetaping for more is always a good thing. Do I expect one of these soon? hell no. Not until all the nukers get one.

Does the VT Quested necklace give you extra damage with all your spells?

I think not. This is clearly a... Wizard item. :D
#REDACTED, Posted: Nov 05 2002 at 7:52 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) BAH!! for your info this is clearly a SK/necro item since we putting claims on it. and of course the quested neck from VT is better, after all VT is one of the most difficult zones to get into and clear. that is of course unless your guild is the best equipped. but considering that still less than 20% of the EQ world isnt clearing VT i see this neck being claimed quite often by all who can and will use.

You sir, are a boob, and what's worse you are an arrogant boob that professes to know what will happen in all guilds/servers.

This WILL have a chance at getting used by any and all that can use it because of the exact reasons you stated.

Because most higher end guilds run DKP type systems then people save points for items they want/need. For this reason you will see items that are "best suited" to one class going to a "lesser suited" class because people in the "best suited" class don't want to spend points on it. It's why loot in VT rots now in nearly every guild that goes there.

It's a nice item that can and will be used at varying times by all classes listed on it.
