Countless hours I have my furry tail parked in EW camping the lone Missionary that spawns in hut with Dobbin(sp?).

Due to the long spawn times, I camp out after kill, camp back in a few before it pops.

This is silly--and yes, I routinely check bazaar and no else seems to camp these. Same as Spinflint--ultra rare with added complication of bugginess (spawns in wall thank you much SOE).

But now it's a matter of principle. Be damned if my newbie Ranger isn't gonna be twinked in the no-drop quest gear. =)
#REDACTED, Posted: Jun 01 2003 at 9:19 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) was in PoK listening to a friend advertise she needed a rez - had been killed by an NPC, even tho she didn't attack it (or at least didn't mean to).
Too much work

If you looking for int, too much work on this. Do this if you need ext range. If you are seeking for int, you can just do to Basic Magic Manual, and all done in POK, just need someone to make you a hobgoblin surprise. Stats is 7ac, 6int, 6 wis, 15hp, 15mana. This item is upgradable too. good luck!

Ahhh i dont know if you didi it yet but i just did all the running for the first little book that links to that. But I even as a druid with track it took about 2 hours to do. So just for that and then go into one of the Planes and loot an item and combine with a skill of 237 in baking. Is a little much for one more int. Not to mention the other great effects that this has. Im going to do this quest today and when i get to lvl58 ill do the intermediate magic manual but untill then this is the way to go. Especially now that i can put on my other Velium Jasper Ring instead of my Moonstone Ring. /em grins.

# Apr 06 2003 at 8:18 PM Rating: Decent
ok im back to post i got it 2 days ago and i love it. I bought all the pieces for a total of 449pp. And with it im replacing a moonstone ring cause now the ext range isnt needed and a sun chalice cause its in range now. by selling those ill get about 200-250pp back so im only gonna have ended up spending 200-250pp on it and that much for this good of an upgrade is amazing.
#REDACTED, Posted: Jan 03 2003 at 6:19 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Sorry to rain on anyones parade but if youre doin this quest for INT/WIS from Inventory might as well give it up now. Spent all day yesterday and today getting the parts for this because I desperately need INT ( didnt know to add when I started character so I am a Wiz with higher base WIS than INT ) just did turn-in and boom it's a Range item now /cry. Apparently they figured out this was actually helping people and nerfed it who knows all I know is I AM SOOOO PISSED! What a friggin waste of time! I have 8 INT in range with 15 SV MAG and at 59 who needs extended range II?

"Guess I must continue paying for not knowing what to add to my first character THANK YOU SOE and VERANT!"

Yes, blame Verant and SOE for you not reading the freaking manual!

<chuckles> Or for that matter not even paying attention to the fact they HIGHLIGHT the stats you want to plus up for that class. But keep in mind just because your first character was poorly distributed stat wise that just means you have to get different focus in gear and possibly some extra AA's... or at extreme worst restart the character. Tho I don't see the point of the last, with augments, aa's and the gear available for wis/int casters you should have no problem maxing even the worst int/wis with a little work and patience. And in the mean time you're already ahead of the game in BALANCE, something that comes into play later when you realize you can't just max your primary stat and expect that to make all the differnce in the world.

PS That being said I personally have 355 wis buffed but didn't max it starting out, so it is obviously possible.

Here is a little advice for those who in time want to upgrade from this little ranged item (which is VERY nice for any casters 20-40th or even higher). If you have a few friends, do what we have on our server is camp the mob in Maiden's Eye called a Goranga Warchief. it is a rare (but we've got three and I'm waiting my turn) drop 15AC +15 int +15 Wis ranged item. the item is no drop too so you have to loot it yourself.

Good luck

I hear you ,

Here's an idea, it comes from Dark Age of Camelot.
Give ppl a chance to respec their bonus points at some lvl, say at 40 orso. By that time ppl will have learned what is best for their class.

Not really much of a fix in EQ. I've heard hundreds of high levels say that initial stat points don't even matter in the end. Only reason it worked in DAoC is because Mythic is the worst game company ever and was randomly nerfing some classes and giving godlike upgrades to others when the reverse was needed. It kind of deflected some of the blow when Mythic totally destroyed your entire spec line in a drunken rage if you could switch to the 2nd best setup.

I think a better idea would be one I saw in a MUD (text based online RPGs for you younger crowd) where you got a certain amount of stat points at creation and every level thereafter got a small fraction to do tiny stat bonuses. I don't honestly think Everquest needs anything like that though... I took 1k into the bazaar before to twink a caster and I had 210 intelligence on a high elf by the time I was done. Considering what the cap is and the fact I only spent what a high level could make on their lunch break, I'd say EQ's not too bad on stats. DAoC's bad on everything, though.

Okay,I finished this quest last night. Here is the items you need and where they drop, although 2 of the items I ended up buying in the bazaar for under 50pp so if you don't mind spending the cash I would check there first.

Items Needed:
Forlorn Totem of Rolfron Zek
Idol of Woven Grass
Coldain Fetish
Petrified Totem

Where They Drop:
Forlorn Totem of Rolforn Zek dropped off http://eqbeastiary.allakhazam.com/search.shtml?id=6884 Hurglak the Destroyer, a highland cobald in Stonebrunt in the Northwest corner of the zone at the Highland Cobald camp. Took me about an hour to get 2. Just keep the camp clear and he pops in one of the huts.

Idol of Woven Grass dropped off http://eqbeastiary.allakhazam.com/search.shtml?id=4362 A Goblin Witchdoctor in Warslick Woods. I spent 2 hours at the Goblin Fort there where it is known to drop and got called to port someone so I ended up buying this piece. But that is the information I gathered on this item.

Coldain Fetish drops off http://eqbeastiary.allakhazam.com/search.shtml?id=5529 A Coldain Missionary in Eastern Wastes. **IMPORTANT** It DOES affect your Coldain faction so if you dont want to ruin that get a friend who doesn't mind the faction to kill them for you. Took my monk friend and I 15 minutes to get to, very simple for this piece.

Petrified Totem drops off http://eqbeastiary.allakhazam.com/search.shtml?id=8150 A Petrified Stonegrabber in Dawnshroud Peaks, however this totem is also used in some necro TS quest armor so I ended upbuying this one as well, but Im told if you just keep the Stonegrabber camps empty he pops eventually if you keep the camp clear. I don't have much information I apologize.

After collecting the items you go see Curator Merri who is located on the good side in one of the middle buldings, I apologize I didn't get her loc last night and she isn't on the list, but she is right inside the door of the building, she's a high elf.

First you Hail her say then say "What artifacts?" She will then mention something about a Collectors Box.

Then say, "I would like a Collectors Box." Put all your totems in the container, combine them and hand it back to her and you get the item listed above.:)

Well that's all the information I gathered, hope it helps some of you:)

Safe journeys and *hugs*

I just completed this quest and wanted to give suggestions for completion. The items are as listed on the mobs that have been posted both in this forum and through this website. The Coldain Missionaries do drop the Coldain Fetish. My recomendation is to get all of the other peices of this quest and then see if a high lvl friend of yours will come and help do this last part. Someone that does not mind the faction hit. The other three items were easy enough to get. I will say that the witchdoctor part of it was not hard at all for me...took two trips clearing out all of them to get the idol of woven grass, but they are easy to kill for 37 cleric soloing. The missionaries however did con red to me, so be careful with this part. hope this helps, let me know if I can assist you further with info on this quest.

Could anyone help me, I have had some troble locating both the idol of woven grass and the coldain fetish. Killed goblin witchdoctors in warsliks woods for a long time. Acquired plenty of Tambourine of rituals and greenscale emeralds but never the idol.

I got the woven grass on the 3rd witchdoctor drop in Warsliks woods. I'm still working on the Coldain Fetish, but it is said to drop from the missionaries. I can handle the complete heal, but then they also gate back home on low health and his friends don't like me too much at that point :) I'm going to get KEI and try again. I have coldain faction so I may have to kill a LOT of giants after this.
#REDACTED, Posted: Oct 29 2002 at 6:02 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Does anybody have information on this item? I have not seen one available in bazaar, I am starting to think it is no drop. I vaguely remember this dropping in GD during ring war or during one of our ten thousand dain pull. OMG post info plz thx.

I wouldn't be surpried if, when they go back and fix the broken PoK quests that this is changed to the reward for the flowers collection quest. It would make more sense.

This item is the result of the Idol collection quest given by Merri in PoK. I posted as much when I sent it in but apparently he missed that.

Well not the NPCs, anyway... if you try to attack an NPC in PoK or PoT, you can target them, and hear the attack music, but you can't hit them, and they won't ever retaliate. Same with casting spells on them.

However on red servers you can fight other players (and they can fight you!) in PoK (on blue servers, you can still duel in PoK). Not sure about Plane of Tranquility... would make sense that Quellios would formbid players even attacking other players there, but I don't know for sure, as none of my red characters are high enough to enter PoT yet. Any higher level players on any of the Zeks know about this?

I play on Morden Rasp (blue), and keep Sullon Zek (PvP diety teams) as my vacation server. On SZ they say we are lucky becuase we have the most zones non-PvP (confirm?).

On Sullon Zek, you are safe in PoK, Nexus, Bazaar, and (I hear) PoTranq. I personally cannot vouch for PoTranq though. The tutorial zone used to be PvP, but they tried to nerf that for obvious reasons, (blue servers go down... PK natives twink newbs and rack up points off the packed zone) and did a very bad job of it IMO because now on any server you cannot duel or cast a spell on yourself or group members be it a pet summon, buffs, or an agro spell like nukes. Wonder if they plan to fix that. Sure would confuse newbs who are trying to understand their first char when they are a cleric.

i dunno about the casting on them i cast SoW and was still targeted on them instead of me and they were "surrounded by a breif lupine aura" so i guess that you can cast on them but you mean damage wise ill have to take your word on that.

You can NOT fight in PoK on red servers. Thank goodness lest PoK be a very unsafe way to get around.
