Spawn Rate and Raid Info
# Dec 22 2003 at 6:13 PM Rating: Decent
The Shade is a 3 day spawn. He has a lot of dps, but his attack rate is slow. We had a force of 30 including 4 clerics take him out the other night. We had one death due to overnuking. Otherwise, only the MT should really get hit, because I never saw him rampage.

Fought him today and he does rampage, shaman tried to slow early on and was getting hit - with rampage, but only 3 times or so the whole fight. So while it does exist its not a super worry.

BUYING

Have been looking for this since about the time LDoN came out on Terris, seems to atleast be fairly rare in the bazaar...

If anyone happens to be selling them, please send Yiaden, or Yescaa a tell, i'm paying quite well =)

Killed him last week with one group. (all 65's though)
the only thing he dropped was a spec and 2 rings.

How often does this guy spawn?

We did Shade lastnight with 22 people and we dropped him. It was a bit of a long fight but only had one death. He cannot be slowed and has a ton of hps. He dropped the heart, disemboweler, and shoulders.

We had a 20 person raid on Shade...maybe we didn't have enuff DPS, dunno...but we had to go at him 3 times. When he did go down, he dropped all but the ring, nice nice! :)
Dropped Yesterday
# Apr 02 2003 at 3:48 PM Rating: Decent
Had these drop yesterday, and I was actually fortunate enough to receive them. I don't know what they actual drop rate of them is now, but the plate class legs he drops seem to be the common. I have now killed this guy 3 times and this was the first I had seen them drop. They are pretty nice, and should sell for a decent amount when I get my next upgrade

Since a patch in February, we have killed the Shade 8 times without seeing these drop once. They used to drop almost every time and on occaion, two pair at once. At a recent Fan Faire, one of my guildmates rode home on the plane next to a Sony employee who confirmed that they had nerfed the drop rate on the Horn Spiked Shoulder Plates "to hell and back" because they were way too good a drop for where they were. He added that he wasn't sure they were even still on the loot table of Vhazkiz the Shade.

Battalion of Steel killed him on the Tribunal Server on or about 7 Feb 04. He dropped 2 (TWO) Horn Spiked Shoulder Plates, Heart, and a Spec.

31 ac and 65hp is excellent as far as any shoulders go, tank, damage dealer, hell even priest.
This beats those weak 16 ac Dragon Horn ones, more Ac, better stats, and actual resists.

The agi ac it grants makes these equivalent of 33 ac (10 agi = 3 displayed Ac = equivalent of 2 raw ac)

There isnt much better availeable to tanks from a mob this easy.
You can either do Strenght of The Elements (Fairly involved quest) Or camp Matchless Hide.

To all those who think Spirit Wrecked cords should be a "tank" "shoulder", I laugh at you, and I pity your damage dealer guildmates, as Spirit Cords are one of the top 2 Dmg dealer bracers in the game. The other ones being Cloudy Mark out of VT
These are a great addition seeing as now I wont need to explain to warriors/paladins/shadowknights Y do Monk/Rog/Rng/Bst get dibs on Spirit Wrecked.

While i dont consider the spirit wracked cord a tank or hybrid shoulder item, i sure as heck do think it belongs on them somewhere, either arms or wrist in my personal case. At my lvl and my woeful hp state id rather keep my current shoulder (8th shawl) and slap the cord on my arms (nice jump from CC)

Considering these have no mana, no effect, and only 8 wis, I'd pass on them with my cleric as well. Yes, 31ac and 65 hp would be nice, but there are plenty of decent shoulder items that are more usited to a cleric.

If my guild got a set of these, I would sincerely want one of our main tanks to get it, if they did not have better.

If I had to order preference, I'd say
1) warriors
2) SK/Pal
3) bard
4) cleric

Remember, more AC/HP on MT, means taking down harder raid mobs, and getting better gear for all. Warrior Mt with these = harder mob dies, cleric with these = lasts one more second after MT dies.

You do know that Spirit Wracked Cords is a quest reward right? And its a fairly easy one after the faction requirements are met. No reason a tank should or couldn't use . . .

I normally dislike flaming, but you, sir, are a ****. This *is* a relatively easy quest, after the faction adjustments. That's not to say it may not take a while to finally finish, but it's not hard. It's similar to the Eyepatch of Plunder quest. Easy quest, complete pain in the butt to do because of spawn times. Does this mean the Eyepatch is a hard quest? Not at all. As for this whole "Spirit Wracked Cord caused the failure of my raid because the Shaman didn't heal me, didn't have the HP to Canni for a slow, and the Necro couldn't keep Lich up for that extra tick from lack of HP," that's just plain stupid, and you know it. Last thing I have to say about the Cord is this: one of the best parts about it is that it's multi-slot, so you can toss them around to whatever slot you might need them at the moment.

Finally, I think you're a bit mistaken about the AGI:AC calculation. 6 AGI normally equals 1 AC, which is added in its raw form, without adjustments. Now, I don't think it's exactly 6:1, so that may account for discrepancies where you might gain a bit more or less AC than you think, but it's about that. However, after you hit 200 AGI, the entire calculation changes. For example, using Feet Like Cat (18 AGI), I noticed the following: prior to 200 AGI, the 18 AGI buff adds 2-3 AC. After hitting 200 AGI, that same 18 AGI only gives me 1 AC. Since my self-buffed AGI is below 200, and raid-buffed is above 200, I've had ample opportunity to test this out, and it never fails that pre-200 I get ~6:1, post-200 I get ~18:1. Make sense when you consider that STR:ATK ratio also changes post-200 (or, really, post-220).

Dude you are a complete moron. SWC easy? ROFLMFAO. You ever done the quest before? Faction is pretty damn easy to do (although tedious) but try camping for the items. You have any idea who pharking rare the mirror is? You have any idea how many sniews drop at an average camp? Obviously you don't. Please do the world a favor and STFU.

AGI -> AC varies depending on class. As an SK I get one point of AC for every three points of AGI. It's just the same as hitpoints to stamina. I get five hitpoints per point of STA, but my wife's necro gets two from what I recall.
#REDACTED, Posted: Oct 28 2002 at 5:37 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) LOL Suited for hybreds:P Yar sure. And as a 60 Warrior who main tanks alot I can stay with my peerless shoulders while a hybred gets these.

# Dec 18 2002 at 11:34 PM Rating: Default
You are an idiot, and need to go back to grammar school to learn how to proof read.

I did not say these are "hybrid" shoulders - 1
I did say they are better than peerless - 2
Spirit Wrecked Cords while slightly better than these should go to damage dealers for bracer useage - 3

nice stuff! I'm looking at this from the point of view of my main char, 51 warrior who is gear deficient compared to a lot of people. He's wearing crested spaulders still with a mix of cobalt (gaunts) Black Enameled bp, and crafted. I would love to have this for my shoulder slot! Yes, i would defer to the pally/sk/cleric who needed this instead (me and the local bard would go a few rounds tho!) cause they could use the other stats more than an intelligence challenged barb warrior. BUT, sigh, the AC! sigh.

Not too easy. He hits for 1180 and cant be slowed with a signifigant amount of HP. Doesnt rampage very often though. The coolest looking mob ive seen yet though.

Will you morons STFU about who is should go to!!!!!
It should go to a war, clr, pal, shd, or brd.......WHAT IS SO HARD for you CHILDREN to understand about that?
If you have something useful to say post it, if not STFU!

BTW, propaganda on who "should" or who is "best" suited is NOT useful!
Most you you that post here on who items should be used for are sitting around, rather pathetically, looking at message boards when you could be trying to aquire these items. Oh, wait, NM, you WILL NEVER see anything better then a lammy and a barbed ringmail! That just adds more to why you should NOT post here!
