Probably Doesn't Drop

I had read reports from several people (including the comments here) that this bow doesn't drop. I decided to test that by running this task over and over. Well after ten cycles, I've received 0 bows. Given that Mujaki the Devourer drops 2 of his loots per death and only has 3 other loots on his table, it would be be incredibly unlikely that I just simply got unlucky. In fact assuming each drop has an equal chance of dropping, my bad luck would be 1/315!

So I for one am considering this a bow as one that no longer drops, and not including it in my bow collection. I wouldn't recommend others to try to get it!

How about this

WOOT to all that have this bow, your deserve it!!!

if your a ranger or a warrior, just getting this bow to drop is a nice feat in itself, the guy is not that easy. (ok it might be easy if your time geared but hell what are you doing here if your timed geared lol)

bow doesnt drop, and hasnt dropped in long time. its better than the elemental bows, and nearly as good as the time bow (dps wise). relatively speaking, this bow was a bigger oversight in itemization than the alabster hilter wind and the ornate abalone recurve bows (better than time bow, dropped in elementals).

Bow Distribution Arguments
# Apr 21 2004 at 1:37 AM Rating: Decent
Geez, people get so excited about equipment most of them will never get. So who should get a bow like this? Anyone who can use it who doesn't have a more suitable bow.

For a lower level ranger (46-60) this is a great bow... after that level, a primordial driftwood or featherwood bow is a better all around choice with a 250 range Karana or Tunare bow for soloing casters. Yes, rangers use bows for killing, and bows make them capable of soloing with reasonable effectiveness like no other melee hybrid or melee class. But at 64, my ranger is using a driftwood and featherwood bow, with the blessed faydark stinger when I want maximum range, and I am banking LDoN points to put Vampire's Kiss on a Windsaber for farming. I would pass on this bow.

For a warrior 61 and up, a Stonewood bow with Aura of Battle is a much better choice, and for a 46 to 60 warrior, well, I'd still use a Nightmarewood Compound Bow over this for the process. My warrior would probably pass on this.

The two classes that are least likely to use bows much are the two that this is most suited for, Paladin and Shadowknight. And obviously, of the two, Shadowknight derives the most benefit from it because of the +15 INT. And it is very unlikely most Pallies or SK's will invest 50K+ in a bow, so a nice no drop like this is of great benefit to them.

For a ranger, this should only be a bridge bow while waiting to get the bow off Tallon Zek or one of the elemental bows, and with the advent of LDoN and GoD, there are so many other good bows that make equally suitable bridge bows. Unless you are an unguilded LDoN raised ranger, you aren't likely to derive a lot of benefit from this bow over the many other options you have as a ranger. And if you are an unguilded LDoN raised ranger, you aren't likely to ever defeat this mob so the point is moot anyway.

Ranger bow mantra: Speed, Range, Damage, (select) Process, Stats.

Yes, this should go to the rangers first and foremost. BUT, if the rangers have better, I see NO problem with it going to one of the other classes.

As a ranger, I have to say this needs to go to any class that can use it... I wouldn't waste my time with it... It wouldn't stay in my inventor very long at all, just long enough for me to save up for an elemenal bow. Yes, rangers can do SICK DPS with archery, but the stats alone make it a worthwhile object for any class.. Us rangers should be worried about Elem bows, not teir one drops. Leave these to the peeps who don't actually feel a 100k bow is worth getting.. I'll keep looking forward to my featherwood.

RE: Hmm
# Mar 30 2004 at 3:33 AM Rating: Default
Ratio and delay wise this is better than anything except maybe featherwood. Dont recall the numbers on it, but the obsidianwood comes in second. This has 3 less dmg and 3 less dly than obsidianwood. Factor the 11-15 dmg and 0 dly from EQ and you're going to parse higher with non-TS hits.

No archery bonus on this though... you'd have to go get the stupid mask from hollowshade.

This is comparing to the droppable crafted elemental bows of course.

Still better stats on the Ele bows. I wouldn't give this a second look. /shrug

I am now using primordial, and you couldn't pry it out of my hands. Decided not to go with the featherwood since the proc breaks root to much, and all parses compared, the non-ts dps from any of the elem bows is so close as to make no never mind.

The Bow

Just so you dudes know (let me clarify) this bow would never go to a warrior or SK over a ranger. As most of you know, Rangers get Endless Quiver (an endless supply of arrows) and Archery Mastery (3rd level improves their dmg. with arrows by 100%). In groups and such where rangers can shoot arrows, they do. Just my 2 cents

Its a tough call. I would really hate to lose the 5 wis and the saves for fire and cold - but the Plus poison and disease is much harder to get tho.

As I have made a nightmare bow for every Archer capable player in my guild - So it makes deciding who gets a bow pretty easy - we already know what bow everyone has. When we take the event that drops this bow - and it if it does - I think I will call the MT warrior to loot overr me - even tho the Dmg / Delay ratio would be more devestating on me. The funny thing is that this bow is designed for a shadowknight with the int on it over wis.

Honsestly who gets to loot this depends on how your guild treats archery/ stat slots. The Hit points alone would make me prefer it goes to a MT class over the ranger that can use it for devastating DPS with bow shots

#REDACTED, Posted: Oct 31 2003 at 4:48 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Anyone that gives this bow to a warrior or sk should be shot good rangers should only use bows and have most dps in the game.

Let me make a few corrections to your post up there...

Quote:
good rangers should only use bows

Um.. ok, lots wrong with this one... First of all, for us rangers to provide enough DPS to make archery the uber thing that it is, we must be at or above lvl 59 AND we must have AT LEAST 45 AA's spent.. more depending on HOW we spent them. Otherwise, we are providing a lower DPS than our melee...

Quote:
and have most dps in the game.

Only in perfect circumstances is this true. It must be a mob that lives for the duration of our trueshot disc. It must NOT be embeded in a wall or the arrows poof. We must NOT have anything blocking our line of sight. We MUST have a better bow than the one listed here to provide the DPS you seem to think we can.

Rangers do more than shoot arrows.. we can provide CC, we can offtank, heck, in some places we can even tank if the MA drops.. why you think we got weaponshield disc?

Once we get Elem/time equipped, we can actually provide MORE dps with a 2hs (and a lot more AA's again) than we can with archery.. this is a proven fact. period. end of subject. Warriors, SKs, and Pallys can provide higher DPS with 2hs than an eq/am3 ranger with the best gear, so can monks. Rogues with a topline peircer and duelist disc (and some AA's) can outdamage an eq/am3 ranger... Archery is not the be all/end all of DPS.

Several casters can out-DPS us, especially necro's who aren't busy twitching the heck out of the local cleric... If the mob lives long enough that is... Dots REALLY add up...

Am I saying a ranger isn't a good classto play? Nope, I love every minute of my rangerhood.

Am Isaying this bow should not go to a ranger? nope.. but IMO all classes that can use it SHOULD get a chance at it.. of course, I heard it no longer drops, so it is a moot point... but let's keep our facts straight.

Our guild isn't uber by any means. We only have a small handful of level 65s. However, both of our rangers have elemental bows (Obsidianwood).

I could see this going to one of our other tanks, particularly a warrior, since that dex would help proc those aggro weapons more, and the ac/hp on this is pretty nice.
RE: Warriors
# Oct 10 2003 at 6:31 PM Rating: Default
The only people that think this would help a guild by giving it to their tank or SK are the people not in those high level guilds. AM3 Rangers need the fastest highest damage bows they can get their hands on. Get over it and get your ac/hp someplace else.

I strongly doubt that any guild would want to give this to a warrior over a ranger, unless the ranger already had a better ratio bow.

lmao most rangers who are 65 have already are close to using a Obsidian,Stonewood, or any other elemental bow. Personally i wouldn't take this bow, but this bow is great for a pally / sk, wth is wrong with it going to them? Anyone strongly doubting these ideas most not be in a raid guild, only going by stats. This bow is nice, but trust me, there are plenty plenty plenty more ranger only bows that are better then this...

I have seen one on my server, Brell Serilis, so they are out there, keep in mind I spent a lot of time in PoN before working on flagging. Anyways, just to answer, there are others out there, just rare, because, well, they're sweet all around bows, and the mob to kill isn't one you just pull and kill in a normal group of PoN hunters. As for most of the posts on this bow, well, I agree with Raech's post a few people down there, almost feel like i'm losing the grey matter in my skull joining in on these topics anymore, i.e. um, wookie?'s rant (65 Billybad@$$) what are you, again? do you play? Why are all your posts rated down so much? You seem to think that all good bows go to ranger. Well, I happen to know several warriors, rogues, sk's, that have high-end pop and luclin bows for the stats, ac, and a decent pulling bow for soloing or tag-pulling (not raid pulls). Keep in mind many of the mobs in luclin dungeons, and some in pop, are perma rooted for some ****** up reason. If the bow was ranger only, it'd be a ranger bow, it's not, if you got one, great, hopefully you deserve it, if not, oh well, there are many other bows out there that are very nice for a range slot for many classes.
Anyways, back to topic, yes, the bow is dropping, but very rarely, Good luck on getting one Uenladar, just try and get in on a kill sometime. Keep in mind, PoP has only been out a short time, and many of the planes on each tier level are still dropping new items.

You really are an idiot.. as well as unskilled. I've been pulling for I don't know how long. And I can single pull better than a monk in some situations because I can tag it from 300 paces away. PLUS!! I use a Nightmarewood Compound bow (That I made myself). so I also get the buff from the proc. As far as my guild, we aren't the most "uber" on the server, but we can hold our own in any situation we put ourselves in.

Yeah, you can get gamepads for your computer with autofire. Plug it in to your USB, set one of the buttons to whichever number you have archery hotkeyed to, and turn rapid fire on... not terribly practical, but i think it is your best option for now... or just stick to the old way.

We Warriors GANK a bow from a Ranger? Never!!!
What makes you think you are the only characters with a shot at a decent bow?

Frankly if you already have an Uber Bow(And MANY rangers do), what's to stop a Warrior from getting a shot at this one?

Tell you the truth if this thing drops in my group and you are a Ranger and if you NEED this bow..it's yours. I agree that Rangers are preferred for using such an item. However, I disagree that Warriors don't get a shot, that's frankly rediculous.

As for 'Warriors never pull past XX level' I agree in raids ..maybe not..but even that depends on the zone. I pull in Umbral Plains all the time for example. The tougher the outdoor zone the more we tend to have to pull and even some indoor ones as well. I pull in Umbral,ME ,Kael, Sirens Grotto , Cobalt Scar, and other places all the time.

In Umbral I have met a few rangers that even whimper when I say " hey you got tracking..go rustle us up those named ;)". In a couple cases the answer was "You want me to pull? You want me to die????MEOOOOOOWWWW!!!!Aragag whines." So I with my fat **** hps runs as the gigantic Zelniak eats my Cobalt and other assorted butt on the way back to camp. This is of course not the kind of Ranger I am used to and is hardly representative but it does happen. So I ask you MR NOBODY GANKS A BOW FROM A RANGER.What kind of Man..err Ranger are you??? If you got your bow of uberness already , this ones mine )!

Ranger, theone class in EQ that everyone thinks needs revamping (except us Rangers) We are the best shots in the game with a bow, nobody will dispute that except the mentally challenged. Should warriors get a good bow? Absolutly, but should a class that can put a good bow like this to its best use get it first in my opinion, yes. However it should be rolled of like any other piece of loot according to the rules established by the people attending. Not all rangers have an uber bow, I for one am a 52 Path Finder with a PoS Shadewood bow (Dam 21, Del 40ish) but I can make it shoot well, I can put out some decent damage with this thing. However I almost feel sorry for the mob I go psyco on with this. Almost. Anyway Warriors get a good bow, Nightmare Wood is my Suggestion, it has an effect that warriors will find to thier liking. Rangers while perhaps can use this bow best are not the only ones. An yes we equal I get all the bows, at least we wish.

very nice bow for a ranger. however, if i were a ranger with archery AA skills, i'd go for a higher dammaging bow like bow of shadows, war bow of rallos zek, etc.

however, most guilds would default this to rangers. ssrae bow is pretty common and easy to get and is a better range slot item if that's what the warriors are using it for.

Bow use
# Oct 28 2002 at 2:13 PM Rating: Good
I rarely post here, these turn into flame wars too quickly to be worth my time, but I do need to suggest a criterion for this bow which makes it preferential to a ranger rather than a warrior or other class, despite the value of the AC.

The clear determining factor on this bow is the delay. Rangers get 2 minutes in which to do their maximum damage with Trueshot discipline, and every 500 point hit counts. This bow is ungodly fast; in a 2 minute period it would allow for nearly 25% more shots than the Thunderbolt, at a higher level of damage.

If a warrior wants a great bow for AC, equip them with a Nightmarewood Compound, which has 5 AC and a 12 AC tap as the proc, making it a 17 AC range item. The simple fact is that a warrior is never going to use the bow for more than 2 or 3 shots in a row, where a ranger will hit 75-80 times in a 2 minute period with this and the common haste and fleeting quiver equipment. To have a bow this fast used for 2 or 3 shots per mob instead of 75 or more on a raid level target simply is sad waste of an uber weapon.

Also, not only trueshot, but regular fighting. It almost seemed to me that I was doing more damage with my bow than with a Toxiferous Axe and Nightgrowth Blade, both EXCELLENT weapons. I have a Nightmare Recurve Bow (one of the new ones, I was #5 to get it) and am only level 53, so it makes it 29 34 I think... Anyway, I was typically doing 80 damage on an average hit and throwing in Firestrike occasionally, so my DPS was prolly like 50-75. I haven't done any official parses, mainly considering I don't know how to, but it just seemed to do more damage.

Sorry but I don't agree with the "I'm a warrior I need this to pull".. You can pull with a Hunting bow off the npc vendor. You don't need to do massive damage to pull. Last time I checked you could even miss and the mob would still come..

220 range is useful for pulling.

Believe what you will.

You want this bow, go kill the mob and get it. And quit whining about who else has one, cause you'll have one too.

Finally someone puts it in plain english, a warrior does not need to even hit the mob to pull it, damaging the monster would be nice but it is not needed to get aggro. I liked your 2Cp

That's why I only chose to give my warrior the cheapest 100 range bow I could... it's perfect for pulling and doing a little get-em-mad damage.

At the high end its all about DPS; isnt it?

This is a ranger bow. Whether or not it is awarded to a ranger is an entirely different matter.

If I recall some of my old FEAR GEAR had int instead of wis -- oh well :) rangers want to be smart too

Well, enough with the crap about who should and who shouldn't use this bow. Its a nice bow for all classes. What I want to know is something about the mob it came off of and what tactics were used to defeat him.

I agree all the classes that can use it will find some aspect very good. A warrior is always chasing AC and hpts for instance. While all these classes have great use for AC and hpts a warrior would have more use. DPS clearly a ranger would have more use for it, and so on. This is an excellent item for all classes that can use it.

Oh and I would also like to know what it takes to take this guy down.
