Curious as to where you got your information that instruments have no effect on mez. Why would Verant list our mez as "Wind" when it has no effect?

Aridar, Falamil is actually incorrect in saying that a wind instrument has no effect on mez, but only to a point. What the wind bonus does on our mez songs is to increase the MR debuff portion of the song, thus making it easier to >keep< a mob mezzed.

However, by the time you are likely to receive this particular item you will almost certainly be using Dreams of Ayonae or a higher mez song. All of our mez songs after SoT (the dreams basically) do not have this MR debuff component and so the statement is also correct if taken from this standpoint.

I say that last sentence with one caveat. The Dream songs are all fairly new and as such there has been very little true testing done with them. As such it is not impossible that VI have altered the way they work to make a wind instrument more useful for these. This is unlikely, but I feel it necessary to mention so as not to provide false information.

That said, this mace seems nice to throw in the offhand at those times you are mainhanding the epic to get a proc, as long as you don't have one of the many weapons around that are better. I doubt it will see a great deal of use at other times.

Zelandakh has some good points, however there is one thing he is forgetting. For those of us without our epic this is an invaluable tool. Mez is unusual in that once you target a mob and start playing the song, you can then choose a new target, and when mez recycles, it will continue to mez your origninal mob. What this means is you can mez an add and then retarget and start meleeing a different mob (situational I know, more than one mob to mez and this point becomes moot). On top of that however it also negates the neccesity of having to swap out your weapons for a wind instrument.

Having said that, I am still trying to lay my hands on one of these. Does anyone know for sure certain what mob it drops off of? Grummus maybe? or just random malarians? At the rate I'm going I will end up finishing my epic before I find one of these.

Thanks for clarifying that Zel :) I never knew why my mez's seemed to work better when I armed my flute but now that I know it's related to MR it makes perfect sense. Thanks!
