I bought this shield for my sk. Got it for about 270pp on Luclin. Don't know why its so cheap, probably because of its recommended level? It looks so awsome and the stats will grow with me as I level up, its the same graphic of the shield that the guards wear in shadow haven and the nexus. Now if only I could find a sword that has the same graphics that they wield :)

Now that the fear wall is gone expect prices to rise on this item, it may actully sell for what its worth now .

I think most monsters in this zone have a rare chance of dropping most items, kinda like Chardok.

Seems that the loot is random on the prisoners because we got this off one of the warrior of Nep'tal (or something like that.

My group (56 druid, 53 cleric, 52 warrior, 54 paladin, 47 enchanter, 50ish druid) were able to get one. The MOB was as Tsuka described - essentially a sphinx head and griffon body.
We were the lowest level players in that zone on Xev for much of the time we were there - everyone else was 58 or higher. Yes, we had some problems - two of us died when we were overwhelmed by two sarnaks, an undead sarnak, and some rats. Other than that though, we did quite well.

This dropped in the hallway leading to the stairs that take you into the basement. The creature that dropped it looked like a sarnak. He went down pretty easy to a low 50's group. Pulling his cell brought him and his sarnak buddy. I tanked one, and a ranger tanked the other. Our 49 shammie slowed them and our cleric didn't even need to heal us.

Anyway, this dropped for my group from a sphynx looking mob in one of the cells. It was a cell with 2 identical mobs with some odd names that I dont remember. Conned blue to 59 and were easy kills for a group of 50 - 60s.

Why in the world would an erudite paladin ever use this?

You erudites have this nice little shield called Shield of the Stalwart Seas, something like 35 ac 20 str 20 sta and the effect of ultravision. There are more of these shields on servers than erudite paladins, can pick one up for free usually, at most a couple hundred pp.

...really weak AC for being a lvl 50+ shield.
Your getting this in the "Planes of Power" , where you need high resists all the time. Take a look at it from the +15 on poison and disease and it's not so bad if your in the Plane of Disease.
