is this really droppable? i have never seen it for sale in bazaar on the nameless
RE: ????
# Mar 28 2006 at 12:35 PM Rating: Default
The weapon is droppable (tradeable), although I do not know if it still drops. I own two of them (note that it is not lore, so the same alt can equip two). I bought them in the bazaar about 2 years ago (for about 150kpp average each), and have only seen 1 for sale since then (for about 400kpp). In my opinion, it is well worth the plat, as the weapon has a great ratio, other very good stats, and is not attuneable. Using both together really rocks, especially for warriors. Note the especially good offhand ratio.

Yes, it is droppable, I own one on the 7th Hammer server. I think I might have the only one. been asking for months.

Bard?
# Feb 08 2004 at 8:33 PM Rating: Decent
Personnally I think people who don't like bards know nothing about the classes and their benefites. EQ isn't all about DPS. If I was raiding a mob and I had a coice of 3 rogues, 3 bards, or 2 rogues and a bard, I'd choose 2 rogues and a bard. Bards bring alot to the table to benefit the entire raid.

If you don't know the benefites of having them along then you obviously don't know how to play, or just wanna jump on the DPS bandwagon. Seems nowadays everyone wants to jump on whatever toon is king DPS. Funny how many people jumped and started Rangers, the rerolled rogues later after they figured out Rangers aren't as much DPS as they thought. Play a class, use it's abilities to the best of your abilities, and enjoy.

Everyone think who think that bard are useless is a newby. Raiding without a leats 1 bard can be a pain in many Raid. some high end guild search for bard over cleric because not many poeple play bard

shut the hell up about fking bards and other classes and their usefullness, if i could have a raid force of 10000 of any one class, it would suck, and its not even possible to boot, best raid would be one with 1 of every single class, they all have their benefits and they are ALL very much needed, they work off eachothers strenghts, 50 warriors is worse than 5 wars and 5 clerics.....just, lol omg...so hard to even explain how dumb that entire discussion is, a 50 man raid without a bard compared to a 50 man raid with a bard , the later would be about 20% beter, same goes with a raid without anyclass, a raid of 50 without a warrior vs a raid of 50 with one is 20% better lol, not sure if that was put in the right order.....all im saying is that classes work off eachother and dubble if not tripple each classes effectiveness. 1 cleric and 1 warrior is better than 8 warriors because the cleric can ch him 10 times before he dies, thats a 2 team better than an 8 team....get what im saying? i would never raid a pop+ mob without atleast 1 of every class maby minuse some of the unneeded dps classes , aka rogues , zerkers, ranger, those can all be made up with for other classes imo, a bard can add +200 resist to the entire raid, worthless? i think not, and other classes give benefits the same as that, paladins can save the tank with a loh if clerics slow for some reason, wizy can manaburn a ch'ing or gateing mob, or my favorite, manaburn a mob when its at 5-1% and the raids wiping, yes its happned plenty of times to me, my guild once got rydda'dar to 1% then wiped, ( not saying my guild cant kill that, we ezly can ), and other mobs like the BoT biggies, got one to 2% and wiped one time. and thats just another example on how classes can be useful, they all have their benefits.

# Jun 10 2003 at 8:25 AM Rating: Good
C'mon guys you don't have to be so harsh on us bards now do you? As someone posted "Bards dont even get double attack" which we do with AA points and this comment "bards they have kickass dmg/delay drop for them all the time" which can be true since most of our weapons drop from places farmed or camped alot (e.g Chardok for faction)hey tend to show up more ofen. But one thing that really pissed me off was someone that said Bards arent dmg dealers which is total nonsense. We put out a great amount of dmg when we need to but since most the time we using songs that are to benifit group we cant just play haste song and use our dd and dot songs on the mobs like rangers can cast or rogues get backstab. I hate posts like that Trying to bring down a class because they have never played one and dont know nothing about them, to me all classes are great in their own unigue way and bards have songs that mold them into what ever class group needs atm. All i want to get through is If a class can use it they should have a chance to get it if they need it.

Bards are a mixed bag. I personally think a well played bard is AWESOME, unfortunately I think the class takes a lot more skill to play than most people can handle and end up getting a lot of people killed. It's those bad bards that really ruin it for the others and I think the bad ones are a little too common.

I never played a Bard, but LOVE that mana song. =) I have a 55 Enchanter and 51 Ranger myself. I think every class has it's place, it's just a matter of finding people who play those classes well!
#DStealth, Posted: Dec 18 2003 at 6:28 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Okay just wanted to say. I hate bards. I hate bards alot. But really bards aren't damage dealers. That's just hillarious. They stack those little dots that cost no mana and can solo anything that doesn't summon in the game. There uber for pvp. Please don't start saying that bards can't deal damage. Because I want them nerfed already for the way too much power that they have.
RE: Bard
# Feb 08 2004 at 6:32 PM Rating: Default
Bards aren't damage dealers.

Hello, the best bards can do about 80-90 dps with time geared weapons. I've seen time rogues use discs and hit 487 dps. Hmmm...

With a TDoK in hand bards do 96 dps singing dots at 65 and IM1 (with all 4 chants). No mana song, no rizl, no haste. Which benefits a group more? Not to mention similarly equipped rogues at that level and aa's easily break 150 dps... 30% overhaste can do a lot more me thinks.

A time geared bard with an EoE can probably do about 177 dps. While yes, that's nice, but wouldn't overhasting, rizling, and etc.ing a group of similarly equipped people do more net dps?

Only time bards are good dps is when they have something around to charm.

P.S. EoE = Edge of Eternity, weapon with a big perc mod for dots. I also used SM3 in that calculation.

Now with all that being said, no, good bard weapons don't drop enough. Velious bard weapons? Tunare's dagger and all the weapons that are multiclass is about it. Kunark bard weapons? Epic and that's about it. Luclin? A few in there but luclin weapons have every body usable :P. PoP? Need elemental flags. LoY? Waste of time. LDoN? Who DOESN'T get a good weapon from LDoN? Really. I hope GoD has funner stuff.
RE: Bard
# Nov 29 2004 at 1:44 AM Rating: Decent
DPS is easy to come by, myself a necro could pump out more DPS on raids than most time geared (melee) DPS classes. didn't lost much mana either with my crazy regen rates. So before you speak just remember, you may think you have the upper hand over a class, but you don't.

Necromancers do.

and for you non believers here's average dots at 65 with ceramic shackles and some AAs

blood of thule: 390-440 per tick
horror: 250-500 per tick
night fire: 390-440 per tick
nights beckon: 220-280 per tick, not very sure
embracing darkness: 70-80 per tick
funeral pyre: 300-350 per tick
pet: 30-160 DPS depending on mob and AC and just overall chance of flurry/double, etc...
wake the dead all those other dead things are about 450 per tick if not more.
--
391.6.... DPS and we still have loads of mana left to either twitch raid cleric/shaman/druid or just keep on dotting. same works in group. So incase of high resists or nasty DS we turn into mana batteries/fd pullers/tank (with our rune and lifetap) although it usually doesn't end good with higher end mobs.
--
Bards and druids are the only ones that rival us in kiting, that's right at this point wizards can't usually cut it because of how essential snare is, even the druids are starting to lose out due to the lack of a pet (unless you have dc and there's a match around)
--
We all have things we can't do and things we can, bards for instance are a must on high end raids, yes, just as much if not more than rogues due to some CC abilities, resist song, lull if I remember correctly, haste, stat buffs, speed, s'all good.
Druids, who do you ask for that po9 to stack with your other spells right before a raid, who do you ask for rege, str and sow and invis when you forget your potions, who fills in for the clerics if something goes terribly wrong (like ld and missed healing rotation)
Necromancers, who do you ask for mana when VoQ isn't cutting it and you're very low even on your horse, who saves raids due to that fact constantly? Who do you ask to summon your corpse when you're too lazy to look? Who can rez in place of a cleric and then in return get the rez'd hp and mana back to fit? For those of you who've done MM trials, who has to kite the villagers when druids are busy healing groups and bards are too busy doing raid resists.
And as for rogues? When you need a lock picked who do you call on? When casters can't quite cut it you you all the melees and hybrids, rogues in paticular, as DPS.
--
So all in all we need every class possible for grouping and raiding (and I can keep on going on with a list of why/how classes are good and where), if they find a way to benifit from something then so be it.

Cept zerkers, nobody likes zerkers.

# Dec 12 2002 at 4:26 PM Rating: Default
I am soooo sick of hearing this should go to this class but not this class. The ONLY exception where a weapon should be defaulted to a certain class would be that it has an effect which is ment to keep agro, a large ammount of a certain stat that another class would have no use for. So please please stop saying this should go to so and so. Use the dice and check who needs it not who YOU think needs it.

/rant off

anyway this is a great weapon :)

This should go to who ever isnt going to just sell it. It would be nice to get something that you can use (reguardless of class) before some jerky that will just sell it for a profit. NBG is a bad choice of loot tables because most folks tend to think coin is a need. Heck the best things in the game are no drop so no amount of coin will help you in the end.

Every little whiney numbers crunching power player out there can kiss my pimpled smelly ogre butt! I agree if you get a cool drop and someone in the group can equip it and will use it happily they should get it. Some classess need to carry 6-7 weapons anyways so they can adjust their aggro or switch to more usefull proc's. Back to my original statement get the accountants out of my game, I want the brave and the insane to have fun with not listen to ingroup whining about who gets what.

Other posts already said it, but the statement that Dual Weild is checked only when your primary swings is just wrong. Dual weild is checked every time your delay on your offhand weapon is up.

That being said, these are not lore, so put one in each hand. Of the tradeable 1HS in the game, none are better DPS.

Dual wield has nothing to do with your primary hand weapon.

Dual wield checks every time the off-hand weapon recycles...primary and off hands swing independantly of each other.

Best way to check this is to put a non-weapon item in your primary slot and see if your off-hand still swings.
RE: War Off-Hand
# Apr 10 2003 at 4:41 PM Rating: Default
You're right that dual wield has nothing to do with primary weapon delay, BUT this guy never said they were related. Everything he said is completely accurate. There is no damage bonus in off-hand which make low delay weapons wonderful in main hand. You don't swing as often with a weapon if it is your off-hand, because like you said every time the delay expires there is a dual wield CHECK. You MIGHT or MIGHT NOT swing. Therefore you will get more procs if it is in your main hand.

Umm,
That would check your HTH skill if it was a non weapon item. So then it would use you hth delay not your offhand delay.

This sword should go to a Ranger.
Reasoning: It owns the few weapons availeable to Rangers in NtoV (best of which is a 12/17 10 sta 50hp 130dd proc) outside of Vulak (who is in his own class of encounter difficulty) and looking at the Dmg/Delay I wouldnt be suprised if it did out damage Tolan's Longsword of the glade (2 dmg less 4 delay less)
Rogues, warriors get numerous uber weapons in ToV
Which are close, even, and better to this one.
Just my 1cp though.

Seems convenient that the Ranger is the one saying it should go to Rangers. As for NToV, Kreizenn's Flame is nice, but what about the Baton of Flame? 13/17, same as this, with a proc just about as good. I would put this above the BoF just based on the AC and HP (both just a bit above the BoF) and the fact it's a slasher, rather than a 1hb weapon. Even though both cap at 250 for a Ranger, most let 1hb fall by the wayside. The Baton is also much easier to get than this is (easier not so much in difficulty but in convenience). Warriors would get quite a bit of use from this weapon, considering 15 STA and 50 HP adds up to around 140 HP at level 60. And, in all honesty, ToV is hardly the measure of an uber-anything anymore. With new levels, spells, and AA from PoP, a lot of the pre-Emperor content is pretty gimped now. Most of it is easy enough that, except for a few notable exceptions (Cloak of Thorns and *maybe* Siren Song being all I can think of off the top of my head), you can get better gear from just a few mobs in Akheva or Ssra.

Stop it.

You're TOO fookin high level for " this should go to my class " crap.

See the classes on it? This sword should go to a Warrior, Ranger, Bard or Rogue. Don't let selfishness get in the way of exercising fair play.

Unless you're a power-leveled E-bayer, you already know where it's going if it drops: To your MT if he/she doesn't have better ( which is doubtful ), then to whomever has interest in it WITH the most " favor " with the raiding guild ( be it a point-system, most popular weinie, whatever ).

Even if you're not awarded this toy, you can just sell off some gear and raise the several 100k plat to buy one outright.

RE: Heh
# Oct 14 2002 at 10:13 AM Rating: Decent
You must not be looking very hard if you cannot find better pre-vulak, pre-emperor weapon for a ranger than Kerizenn's Flame. The Light Woodman's Blade(Itraer Vius) and Braid of Golden Hair(Tunare)are the first to that jump into my mind, both are VERY pre-Emp.

Rangers from higher tier guilds that aren't quite yet taking down the Emp should have access to weapons like the Claw of Vyzh`dra(Cursed), Ishinaear Xiall(Shei) or even a Tendonslicer. Granted the last two would commonly go to a rogue but like you said there are so many choices for a rogue that there should be no reason a ranger wouldn't be considered for these two piercers.

As for rogues mainhanding ragebringer until Emp, if a rogue in a guild that is ready to attempt Emperor Ssra still has epic in main then he never attends any raids. There are nearly dozen weapons that will force the ragebringer into the offhand: Tor Vignus, Ancient Burrower Spine, Smouldershank, Massive Heartwood Thorn, Acid Pocked Mithril Blade, Tendonslicer, Ishinaear Xiall, Vyemm's Fang, even Rei's Battleworn Dirk.

As a rogue I would not ask for an item like this, I'd wait for something better. I could see a number 4-7 tank wanting this and getting it. Then again it would also be great for a ranger or a bard, it all depends on who needs it the most at the time.

And for all of you laughing at the idea of a bard getting this, I've seen a bard take a first drop Acrylia Handled Broadsword with DKP. With that in mind I say give this to a bard, they get passed over on alot more stuff than most classes so try to keep them happy.

#REDACTED, Posted: Oct 15 2002 at 7:56 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Vulak and Emperor are both different kinds of fights, on Veeshan its not uncommon that a guild which can down Vulak, can't do the same to Emperor. The horror constuct is spawned as a result of handing the completed Phononomicon to the Living Void - a quest that is detailed elsewhere on the site, iirc, but involves acquiring a number of rare drop items from named mobs in various corners of 4c, minitemple, and mud temple. He looks like the dracoliche and is a fairly obnoxious opponent. Don't expect to see too many of these; the drop items are rather hard to actually GET to drop.

# Oct 09 2002 at 1:34 PM Rating: Excellent
I know of at least 2 CT items with recommended levels that don't just have reduced stats, but aren't equippable by a character too low. It's possible that is true of all weapons from CT, or that it's something they set manually when they think a weapon is just too powerful to twink at all.

As for where this drops? *shrug* I don't have any definite knowledge to offer, but IMO, it's likely from the Ring of Cazic or some similar drop. 13/17 is NToV quality there, and much, much better than Fleshgrinder, so I find it unlikely that it comes from a normal, single group encounter.

Why would a sk like to use this? Im guessing it has a nasty low delay and a proc, sks get proccing weapons only once in a good long time, and alot of the time the proc is a dot or lifedot a nice DD would be really nice, plus its friggin horror shard, sounds skish, then again i think alot of verant names sound skish but are not useable by the class. What are you talking about? My warrior (At 51) would kill for this, literally. And, it is recommended lvl of 51, so you will see decreased stats and effect until you reach 51. If it did not have the lvl limit, aye, GREAT twink weapon...but it does. Oh well. =P
