Foreman Gworknop drops it, but he's been removed PC side. HOWEVER, he still exists on Al'Kabor.

Took several hours and a few deaths but my guild finally looted a few pieces worth the effort from the caves. I got the honor of looting this one. This is the best helm I have had the pleasure of seeing in person in the game. I'm sure there may be a better one somewhere, but if it's not on my head it sucks.

#REDACTED, Posted: Oct 08 2002 at 4:51 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) *IF* it was from the ring of fire, this wouldn't be so bad. RoF drops a MUCH better hat, incidently. This comes from an encounter way beyond the difficulty of AoW, in a dungeon that dwarfs Vex Thall in what it takes to get in.

risk versus reward what are you nuts -- only 3 better helms in the game and you are saying that anyone who could get this has access to a lot better equipment already -- there is no such thing right now as a lot better equipment than this unless you dont like the fact that you cant use this to twink one of your down level characters. cmon 50ac on a helm with assorted stats. My shadow night and palidan would be fighting eachother for one if it was not no drop. The warrior would want a helm of rallos zek instead.

I wonder if this item's name is an playful homage to the classic (ie. olden days ../grin) computer game Defender of the Crown?

Another risk/reward failure from Inner Acrylia, among the hardest places in the game to enter. Having this crown have 75 hp ... or even 50, might make it be more desirable at the point it would get used. But at 60, with a guild accustomed to dropping the Avatar of War and similar targets (what is required for Inner Acrylia), the lack of essential stats on this item just doesn't stand up.

Ummmmmmmm, did you check the classes on this compared to the Helm that drops off Avatar?? The +10 STA would make this an over 65hp bonus. I see this and drool dude, I don't need to see stuffed up tude por favor.Smiley: cool

Shabura is actually right. Consider that this drops, randomly, in the Ring of Fire; an encounter that has yet to be finished. If you want even a little preview; take a guild to do the Ring of Vulak and you'll understand. And RoF is harder (at the end stages) than RoV.

If you really want to understand what he means, check out the following head items. ALL of them, I repeat ALL of them drop off mobs that can be killed by guilds that can do RoF (and not even all of RoF:

Crown of the Kromzek Kings
LORE ITEM MAGIC ITEM NO DROP

Great Helm of True Vision

Ancient Burrower Flesh Cap
LORE ITEM MAGIC ITEM NO DROP
AC: +40 Sta: +20 Wis: +15 Poison Resist: +10 Disease Resist: +10 HP: +100 Mana: +100
Weight: 5.0
Classes: Cleric Druid Shaman Beastlord

Dropped by: The Burrower Beast.

All of these mobs are killable by guilds that do RoF. Likewise, all these head items are far better than the one seen above, for any class. Yes, it would be great to get at say lvl 50; but you couldn't get this at that point. This is why RoF is not done often; the drops are quite subpar in comparison to those seen in other zones, without losing a step in degree of difficulty.

Exaclty. And to make matters worse, its not EVEN from RoF, but from a harder version of it in a locked area with in irrational key. Sure, folks without high-end gear drool - but by the time you could get this, you'd stand a shot of giving it to the rotmonster instead.

This doesn't drop off the Ring of Fire. It drops off a keyed area in the castle by foreman gwon whatever his name is.
