I've got 3 locs, in GFay, that show the path for one of the basilisk spawns. Its over by crushbone. Seems to be on a 5 min (approx) timer. On 3 kills I got 2 skins.
For any DE doing their quest(s), forget Nek, just go to this area:

Plot these points on your map and you'll see the pattern of the pathing.

Only way yer obtaining this at level 4 is if someone a good 10+ levels higher than you kills the thing for you.
Since the war and the revamp of the mob levels in GFay, these things con white to a lvl 10 Bard. They hit not real hard but they hit fast and stun for a long time whether they are bashing or casting their stun spell.
Best way to take em down is get temp and a really good damage shield.

After my bard has been killed over and over from lvl 8-10, I brought my lvl 15 mage and took revenge... those beasts now con green to light blue to me, my pets take them down even if I don't assist... but as the basilisk hatchlings sometimes resist the "Colums of Fire" spell, the ultimate spell to kill them is "Rain of Blades"!
Killed them whenever I found them, but got only one hide from nearly 20 kills... I think the bard newbie armor quest is the hardest of all the newbie armor quests...

these things suck. they are for the bard bracer quest. what a joke. ive killed 10 of them and died many more times than that trying to kill them- no hide drops. i found some in the bazaar for 30pp each.
why does verant make a newbie quest item so hard to get? these basilisk spawns are very rare as ive had a ranger help me on 2 occasions and still couldnt find many to kill. then to have the hide drop so rare too? bah.

If you have magic and a pet, basalisks are a lot easier to Kill. I tried to fight these with a ranger and at lvl 12 conning green still got my butt wooped.
Fought one of these things tonight. Conned Dark Blue to me at 9, and if I had not ben buffed with Skin of Diamond, Regen and strength, it would have killed me. Have seen several con white to me at 10. Good luck, but be careful.

think they are nasty. Was in rauth mounten and ran across Petrifin he lvl 40 named Basilisk was not ready for him being all Basilisk in the zone are realy realy green he stuned me when I was runing from a Hill Giant train after gateing out I came back and kicked his but wow he was tuff at lvl 48
