Don't the Wu's gloves add stats, like the other pieces?

No, they don't. However, the reason the GLS is in the recipe is that these gloves act as a greater lightsource. So you get magic gloves and bright light in one package :)

btw, the Wu's gloves were added to the game a good 6 months or more before any other piece of Wu's. While the other pieces have +agi, VI didn't bother (either accidently or purposefully) to go back and modify the gloves.

6 months? more like two years dude. Wu's Fighting Gauntlets were out in the first EQ, BEFORE KUNARK, as I recall, wu's armor didn't come out until almost luclin, so there's a MAJOR difference. Time was, this was WAY KUEL. You got a major upgrade from netted that you need to hit for magic so you could drop the willowisps that require magic to hit for the GLS to make the bloody things. It was better than cured and had light source. Since the ONLY race that could be monk at the time was human, so you needed one. That was also the days back before Luclin and Kunark when monks actually used their BARE HANDS instead of relying on wepons as they do now.

They DO need to update it so it gets stats just like the other Wu's pieces, though, just to make it fair.

they are also a magic item, allowing you to hit some mobs that otherwise couldn't be hit. (like wisps.)
Poison Vial
# Mar 12 2002 at 7:25 PM Rating: Decent
The poison vile can be made by a number of steps BUT, you can skip all the steps (potery makind and stuff hehe) and just buy the poison vial from a Dark Elf in West Ereeport underground tunles. So you can skip all the ingredints and go buy the pearl and poison vial and cast you spell thicken mana and WaLa Vial of Viscous Mana. I have made 6 vial's at lvl 12 with a skill of 38. I did not fail once

good information.

It's Voila (not WaLa) by the way.
Vial's of Viscous Mana
# Mar 12 2002 at 7:12 PM Rating: Decent
I was a lvl 12 Enchanter when I made this vial of viscous mana my skill lvl was 38. I baught the poison vial from the dark elf down in the tunnles of West Freeport. I got the pearl and cast the spell thicken mana and there I had it the vial. Noe what I do not understand is what the vial is used for well I am guessing it is used for Wu's bracers, but I might be wrong. If I am please feel free to correct me.

lvl 16 reason
# Nov 12 2001 at 5:56 PM Rating: Decent
The reason they say lvl 16 for this is not because of the GLS but because you need an enchanter that's lvl 16 to enhcant the vial of viscous mana for it. Just FYI, all the mana vial spells are in the brownie camp in LFay.
RE: lvl 16 reason
# Dec 27 2001 at 12:07 PM Rating: Default
actually, it is a lvl 12 spell. cast it with my lvl 14 enchanter alt so my main could make Wu's armor. check out http://www.eqtraders.com for all the info on all the tradeskills
Maybe its the wisps

I've heard alot of disscussion on the lvl needed according to the site to have these things... I'm gonna guess its cause you have to get a greater lightstone to make them and greater lightstones drop off of willow wisps. So, the lvl requirement might very well be for the person making the gaunts not the wearer... cause any lvl can wear them.

Yes you can use these as a monk from level 1+. The same goes for all wu's armor. I'm not sure why someone put level 16 to attain this.
RE: Level
# Aug 15 2001 at 12:56 PM Rating: Decent
cause u need a lvl 12 enchanter for some pieces and a tailor skill of 100 or so...
RE: Level
# Oct 16 2001 at 4:00 PM Rating: Default
no its not. look at every other piece of wu's. you still need a lvl 12 enchanter for those. as far as tailoring skill, these trivial at 88, where as all the other wu's items trivial at 128-158 depending on the type. you need a GLS to make these, that may be why it says lvl 16, but i doubt it. i think its just a mistake.
Level Requirement?
# Jul 06 2001 at 9:42 AM Rating: Decent
"Level to Attain: 16"

Does this mean that a monk can't use this until level 16? Just curious as I have a monk and wanted to get these. The character hasn't attained 16 yet though.
RE: Level Requirement?
# Mar 25 2002 at 2:50 PM Rating: Decent
What Gael said. You also have to take into account that as a monk you get "magical attacks" which allow you to attack INVULNERABLE! creatures like willowisps with your bare hands and feet(Tiger Claw and Round Kick come to mind). Still, the added AC and Greater Light Stone glow for human monks is a definate plus! I mean, I'm not complaining that my monk Rontor has'em... =)

RE: Level Requirement?
# Sep 20 2001 at 8:37 AM Rating: Default
No, you can equip them from level 1, but it's a little bit pointless... the real value of these gloves is that it lets you punch creatures that are invulnerable to normal weapons. However, a level 1 monk wearing these will last about 5 seconds against a will-o-wisp -- just because you can damage it doesn't mean you'll demolish it.
High Prices
# Jun 18 2001 at 7:14 PM Rating: Default
I bought The tunic, sleeves, cap and gorget all for 65pp today, you can get them in the stores around freeport and qeynos for 20-40pp, The tunic sells for 40pp and the gorget for 20pp. Why pay people 50-60pp per piece? when you can buy in stores for half that? BTW I bought them from a player who was a master Tailor. Just because it's new doesn't mean you have to pay out the **** for them.

I wish I was that lucky, you can only buy crafted stuff from a vendor if a player sold it to the vendor. That usually happens when someon eneed some quick cash and sells stuff to buy stuff.

Human Only?
# May 29 2001 at 5:34 PM Rating: Default
The database lists this item as useable by both Humans and Iksar. However, the picture seems to indicate it's human only.

Which is correct?
All monks
# Jun 01 2001 at 3:56 AM Rating: Decent
The picture is from the Pre-Kunark day -- the Gauntlets were put in about 2-3 months before Kunark launched. They can definitely be worn by Iksar as well as Humans.
Wu's Fighting Armor TAILORED NEW!!!
# May 24 2001 at 4:16 AM Rating: Default
Keep an eye out for your local mastor tailor to be making some of this juicy armor. Pieces trivial past 150 in tailoring so it might be a while before you can get some cheap. I'm a mastor tailor on Brell with a skill of 122 as of 5/24/01 and I made a set for my monk, other then that I wont sell any until I'm trivial on the tunic.
I'm curious how much these would sell for, unless I hear anything different I'm going to sell them for 3pp per ac. Go check out www.eqtraders.com for the stats.
enjoy!

How do you make wu's fighting armor?
RE: Wu's Fighting Armor TAILORED NEW!!!

To tailor wu's fighting armor, all pieces require a vial of viscous mana, 4 heady kiolas, an appropriate pattern, and a certain number of silk swatches, based on the item. (Gauntlets also require a greater lightstone). The number of swatches are:

gorget, cap, mask, bracer, mantle, gauntlets - 1 swatch
belt, boots, sleeves - 2 swatches
tunic, pants, cloak - 3 swatches

3pp per AC will result in swift bankruptcy, especially at your current skill. Check the items I'm selling to see the prices I'll sell for on Brell.
Vial

Anwyhere from 1 to 2pp, depending on your charisma and faction. This is where I buy all my poison vials (although now I have my pottery almost high enough to make my own, I may stop visiting Nubs pretty soon).

Not sure if this is relivant... but I would still buy the vials for the 1-2pp. True, they can be made. True it took me all of 54 minutes (someone timed me) to go from pottery skill of 15 to trivial on vials. (and less than 50pp for the mastery as well but I'm done bragging now) However!!! ;-) I find it a pain in the kilt to have to buy unstackable clay, tote it to the kiln, buy water and sketches and whatnot and potter something if I'm already in the Ill omen area. It saves alot of time to just buy them and time is as they say, money.

(side note on the vials and wu's... if you want to be the trade skill mac daddy and make everything yourself, I'd start with a trip to Erud's crossing. Its a little out of the way but a port to toxx or Nk will land ya close. On this normally under hunted island, you can find most of the huntable componets for wu's gaunts. Zombie skins to make the vials from the zombies in the water, spiders and willow wisps gallore on the island its self. Wu makers paradice, and you can buy the pearls to make the mana at eather side of the boat ride, Eruden or Qeynos.)

Wilil Ironbear; Northman Shaman currently of the 36th season.

May the 6 hammers guide you and hopefully not hit your thumb.

1 Silk Swatch - tailored from 2 Spider Silk
1 Glove Pattern - purchase from vendor
4 Heady Kiolas - brewed, 2 Kiola Sap, Flask of Water and Bottle, trivial at 46
1 Greater Lightstone - loot from wisps or purchase (8-10 pp?)
1 Vial of Viscous Mana - Created with 12th level Enchanter spell Thicken Mana. Spell sold at brownie village in Lesser Faydark on Faydwer. Spell components are 1 Poison Vial and 1 Pearl.
#REDACTED, Posted: May 28 2001 at 7:20 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Skip the lightstone. It should not be in this recipe.

Wu's fighting Gi
# Apr 25 2001 at 3:05 PM Rating: Default
Anyone tell me how I can get the Gi, is it crafted like the gloves? (which I have).
Alternatly can U tell me how much they go for?

RE: Wu's fighting Gi
# May 23 2001 at 9:04 AM Rating: Decent
The rest of the set was apparently added last patch. I'd expect 50pp or more per piece initially, since the Gi is AC 9 +4 AGI wt 0.1 -- there are now also magic slippers (for Instill Doubt vs those Invulnerable-without-magic creatures).

What does the Ench have to do to make this?
RE: Lost
# Apr 24 2001 at 10:06 PM Rating: Decent
Coz part you need a vial of something or rather mana, which only enchanters can make with one of their spells.

I think u need silk swatches, heady kiola to make them as well, but i really dont know.

Visous Mana?
# Feb 12 2001 at 7:49 AM Rating: Default
What the heck is visous mana and how do I get some?
RE: Visous Mana?
# Feb 20 2001 at 2:49 AM Rating: Default
You will need an enchanter for this one. The thichen mana spells is sold in the brownie village. The enchanter will also need a pearl and a poison vial(made by pottery skill) as components.
