Only someone that has handed Lord Bergurgle's Crown to Shmendrik can loot the Damaged Goblin Crown from the spirit of flame.
- - - Once you hand the Damaged Goblin Crown to Natasha you will have to hand a new Lord Bergurgle's Crown to Shmendrik to loot the Damaged Goblin Crown again.
- - - Shmendrik cannot be attacked until someone hands him Lord Bergurgle's Crown.

Sigh...
# Nov 19 2006 at 3:33 AM Rating: Decent
This is insane. I have been camping this fool for over 18hrs today and here I sit still waiting for him to spawn. I will update this if he ever spawns but it isnt looking to promising.

I have done 3 1.0 epics (druid, shaman, rogue) and this portion of the cleric epic is by far the worst of any other one I have done. I am not saying it is the hardest just the most pointless, mindless, time consuming of any part of the previous 3 epics I have done.

I guess it will be worth it when I am holding my new rez stick in hand, but right now I am about to throw my computer out the window! I am no stranger to camping long spawns but this one takes the cake.

All the epics that I have done I enjoyed to verying degrees but so far this one is just plain stupid. Hopefully it will get better. I already have the ring from Sol A so at least I got that out of the way.

Sigh, ok I am done venting now and I feel just a little better lol.

Ok, back to staring at "a deepwater goblin." Thanks SOE glad to know I am getting my money's worth.

Edit: Just wanted to say it is DEFINATELY worth all that boring camping. Took me a total of 20hrs for Lord to spawn. After that the quest went pretty fast. So if you are just starting out dont give up and know that there is light at the end of the tunnel!

Hope you aren't just staring at it.
Need to kill the ph.

Does shammy pet auto attack if you are attacked?
Put on audio trigger for "lord" then go clean the house with your sound turned up.

Gobs pop , pet kills them.
Bergurgle spawns, you will hear the chime every time he hits you.

I have camped this a couple times. Both times only killing the 3 mobs in tower. Finally after 6 hours each time I got tired of sitting around and got a couple friends to come help me out. We wiped out everything in the underwater towers, and the next time the PH spawned it was Lord Bergurgle. Coincidence or not, 12 hour of just killing 3 folks, and then after killin the rest he spawns....maybe just me. Well, Good luck and hope this helps everyone in the future so your not sittin around for 72 hours.
Firiona Vie and fun with Trivial Loot Code
# May 25 2005 at 7:00 AM Rating: Decent
Are you playing on Firiona Vie? Are you wondering if maybe his crown doesn't TLC on you because, hey, you've been told that epic drops are exempt from the TLC?

Well, not this one. It *does* TLC on you. No really, it *is* that retarded.

/agree
The trivial loot code is about as gay as it gets, but ya gotta love the stuff that you can buy in the bazaar (otherwise no-trade on other servers). I had my 57 Druid in Trak's teeth and and a level 70 Ranger friend could not get the quest drops for the Seb key until I grouped with him since they were still blue to me /lame.

One way to work around this jack-*** problem (on FV server) is to bring along a level 50 friend or alt and be sure to stay grouped with him and your items will drop even if the mob is green to you. I have a Cleric twinkie on FV and he is only 45 now, but will be about 50 by the end of the week and then I am going to start this quest.

Best wishes -

Bah, wish I'd read this post before doing the camp myself.

Can confirm the crown is affected by TLC. I wonder if that means it's droppable on FV...

Well, guess I will find out after another 6 hours of camping in raid mode this time.

Been camping the guy now for 9 hours and there was no place holder for him and then I was swimming around and what do you think I found but his PH in the ceiling. So I swam into the ceiling and got him on tgt and nuked him one time and went to the bottom of the cave and waited for him. Killed him easy and then he started spawning in the right place guess we will see how long it takes for him to pop now.
Tower pop rate messed up?
# Oct 17 2004 at 8:30 AM Rating: Decent
You ever find the spawn rate or number of spawns screwed up? Should be three in tower not two, not one and not none. I've gone there before when NOTHING was popping. These gobbies lose their pathing very easily. If you get trained to zone rest assured, they won't be coming back to tower. Way to cure this? Go up top. Go to where you are on lake bottom above where tower is on map. There they are. All three of em usually just sittin there waitin for you to kill em. Kill all three, go back to tower and wait for repop. :)

PH for Lord Bergurgle
# Apr 24 2004 at 10:07 AM Rating: Decent
Any one know how to get the PH to spawn... I've camped him for 22 hours and still no PH.... Only two are the ones for the druid epic... I've killed all the gobbies I can find... Plus the tainted and corrupted.... I've even let the two outside gobbies by DEEP stay put...

I'd really appreciate any info here... GM's swear the quest is not bugged....

One Stop Summary

I know this has been posted to death, but since I just did this I thought a nice, one post, up to date summary would help anyone attempting to do this.

I completed this portion with my 54 cleric solo.

Since this portion of the epic will take place underwater, the first thing I would recommend doing before going after Bergurgle would be to stop by the bazaar and get either an EB (Enduring Breath) item, or an EB potion if you can’t cast EB or equivalent spells. I opted to buy a rebreather and not have to worry about any spells running out on me. I took my newly purchased rebreather and headed to Lake Rathetear.

There are a few different ways to get there. I opted to take the Oggok stone from the PoK (you will zone to the Feerrott). I headed west through the Feerrott and zoned into the Rathe Mountains. From there I proceeded north-west across the zone and zoned into Lake Rathetear. I got smacked by a Cyclops in the Rathe Mountains but he conned green to me and I wiped him with a couple nukes.

After zoning into Lake Rathetear, you will be on the eastern side of the lake, center of the map. If you walk straight west from the zone-in point, you will find a boat dock at the edge of the lake. Walk right off the dock heading west (into the water) and keep swimming west. You will approach an island that has a tower in the center. The location of the entrance to the underwater cavern you must now find is about 2802, -897. The easy way to find it is to swim up to the edge of the tall mountain on the north-east side of the island. Dive to the bottom and the cave entrance is actually in the base of the mountain. Head west into the tunnel.

You will pass two Aqua Goblin guards in the tunnel. They conned green and didn’t aggro on me. I killed them anyway, nasty goblins. Further west from the guards, the tunnel opens up into a larger, round cavern. There is a tower in the center of the cavern (I saw it on my map). This is where you will find Lord Bergurgle. There are four mobs at the base of the tower, one at each corner. They will either be Aqua Goblins (green to me) or Deepwater Goblins (light blue to me).

It’s important to note at this point that fighting these goblins can be a bit tricky. Every one of them can cast heal on themselves and they do quite frequently. I was getting frustrated fighting the Deepwater Goblins as I would get them down to 15-30% and they would jump back up over 50%. I finally used the strategy of loading 3 different stuns and a couple good nukes. I would stun, nuke, stun, nuke, etc. This seemed to work well once I got the timing down. Even the green mobs were doing this and I was cursing up a storm fighting them.

The tower is very small and only has two levels. I found two green Aqua Goblins on the first level and killed them quickly. The second level is where Lord Bergurgle resides. You can swim up through a hole in ceiling of the first level.

(NOTE: You can avoid any and all mobs by swimming along the ceiling of the tunnel when you first enter, and approaching the tower from above. The top of the tower is open, and you can perch along the wall at the top and look down into the second level. You will be sitting far enough away that you won’t draw aggro from anything.

The second level contains three goblin spawns. There is a 57th-58th level NPC named Deep that resides here as well. She conned indifferent to me and did not aggro when I smacked the other mobs. The three goblins will be either Deepwater, Tainted, or Shamans. They mostly conned light blue to me with an occasional dark blue. They spawn on one side of the tower and the one in the middle is the PH for Lord Bergurgle. He was not up when I arrived so I had to play the waiting game. I killed the three goblins that were present, and swam up to the top of the tower and sat on the wall looking down into the second level. The goblins on the right and left were on a six minute timer, and the center goblin (the PH for Lord Bergurgle) was on a 30 minute timer, right down to the second. I basically waited for the center PH to pop, pacified the right and left goblins and pulled the center mob away from the rest and killed it. Repeat cycle.

It took me about four hours of killing the PH, waiting, killing the PH, waiting, and then Bergurgle finally popped. He was dark blue to me. I pacified the other two and pulled Bergurgle back from the tower a bit (didn’t want any adds). I rooted him and using the stun and nuke method took him out quite easily and looted the crown. I’ve heard nightmare stories of people camping him for 50+ hours. Maybe I got lucky, I don’t know, but since it’s random you just never know.

That was all there was to it. I hope this helps.

I have spent over 12 hours camping this guy, killing all the goblins in the tower and no luck. I wish they didn't make it so impossible. All I can do is keep trying.

--Edit--
Well, the next day my husband, who plays a 62 Ranger, decided to sit at the top of the tower & look down at the nasty little gobbies from above. Since he has an EB item, rather than casting it on me constantly, I waited over by the shore. Any who, He finally spawned a few hours after that. Went to check on Grimblox after killing the flame thing, but it was camped. I've read that Grimblox is another P.I.T.A. so I'm gonna hold off a bit on him cuz I hate camping stuff.

Bergurgle is one of the easiest parts of the epic. If you don't like this part, you'll hate the rest.
RE: Spawn
# Apr 08 2004 at 8:49 PM Rating: Decent
I wouldn't say this is the easiest part of the Epic compared to most epics I found the cleric epic to be very easy, we don't have to go to hate we don't have to go to fear, we just have to wait for certain guys to spawn. The worst part of my clerics epic was collecting Fragments that's what took the longest once you have those amd the scroll the cleric epic is easy. Oh this guy was actually the easiest part of my epic though I was lucky he was up when I go there )

I am the most unlucky person EVER!
# Aug 26 2003 at 10:12 PM Rating: Decent
Thought I'd share my experience with Lord Begurgle so far. My first time setting up camp I was there for 11 hours and didn't have him pop once. Couldn't stay awake any longer so I camped. Second time I only stayed for 5 hours and still nothing. Well third time is a charm i came to find out (so I thought). I got there and there was another cleric camping, said they were leaving though. What do ya know? Bergurgle spawns within 15 minutes. Yay, I'm gonna get my crown! (so I thought again). So I pacify the two on the side and pull Bergurgle to the side and proceed to root and nuke. I get him down to 11% and root breaks. I try casting root again but am too low on mana and Bergurgle proceeds to swim straight through the wall and disappear. I start to cry and sit down for a bit to try and regain some mana thinking he will be back any second. Well.....I was wrong......10 mins later I swim back to top of the tower hoping that he will be back at spawn point but no such luck. 45 minutes, yes 45! and no placeholder or Bergurgle has respawned at spawn point. Gonna sit here for a little longer hoping that something will happen then gonna proceed to throw computer at wall.

That means he was up but in another part of the zone fleeing with aggro on you and that's what was keeping him from the spawn point. If you ever get him to spawn again just zone and come back...

Camping Bergurgle
# Aug 11 2003 at 11:28 AM Rating: Decent
I went to Lake Rathe to camp this elusive aqua gobbie and finally got him to pop. This can be easily done solo - pacify the 3 gobbies and pull one at a time - took me 6 hours one day and 3 hours the next day but finally got him.

Tip - sit on top of the tower - not on the same floor as the gobbies - make sure you have enduring breath item or DMF if you camp right here. You can look down on the pops without causing agro. Cast pacify on all gobbies and root and nuke away on each one. I found this the easiest. Cast endure magic on yourself cause they can nuke you back. I kept the floor clean of pops - cause you will find out that they can CH themselves, so best to have a clean camp for when Bergurgle does pop or surrounding gobbies will CH him and themselves.

Another tip - Keep gate up at all times and bind yourself close to the zone. I got mobbed once cause I accidently nuked instead of pacified. Made it to the arena zone with 4%HP.

I found camping right at the tower the best cause if other clerics come by and you are sitting on land you may get your pop but be too late and another cleric will leave one step closer to their epic.

Take a friend - no use sitting around for hours by yourself. Camping this rare gobbie is boring and very long unless you are lucky to get him in only a few tries.

A big thanks goes out to my camping buddies Ranyard, Deglight and Gorlac. And to Macrose who has supported me with tons of useful tips.

Make him scream
# May 08 2003 at 11:56 PM Rating: Decent
Only seen him once in seven tries. He is in center of underwater tower and has NOTHING to do with tainted or corrupted - they are for Druid epic or Druid quests. PLEASE shout for ClERIC before you Druids kill him -- he is VERY rare!!!!

Drag his butt outside of the other gobbys - He gets healed by them and also has his own Complete heal -- with the combination he's a pain inside the tower.

I screwed up the second part of the quest and have to go back to get the damn crown again - so far I haven't seen his ugly *** again. When I do, I'm gonna kill him slowly an make him scream.

Seeing as how my cleric is getting pretty high, I figured I would start the epic. Took my druid to Lake Rathe to park him there so whenever I logged on, I could check for Lord Bergurgle first thing. Get to Lake Rathe, head to the island, check tracking, and guess who's up? And I am the only PC in the zone. Guild gets a group together and I get the crown first time there. Total elapsed time: not more than 15 minutes.

Thanks, guildies!

Cleric Epic

Woooaaa,
Hey guys and gals this is for Cleric epic he spawns at the same place as the druid epic (underwater in top of the tower near Deep)please before you go killing him shout to see if a cleric needs him first. I have gotten both corrupted for my druid 54 and this guy for my cleric 58.

He is simple to kill had a druid and my cleric solo take him out easy think at the time we wher both around lvl 47-51 was a long time ago. COntinue to kill the gobs intop of tower to get him and druid mob to spawn.
#Grigner, Posted: Sep 01 2002 at 2:39 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) A level 30 mob drops this piece of crap? And it was added with luclin? The people at Verant must have been drunk when they came up with this one. Is it for a quest?

This has been out way before Luclin and the reason for the stats and lvl of mob is that it is one of the pieces needed to get the Cleric epic :)

Sorry to tell you - but you are mistaken - the corrupt will spawn in the water - got him to spawn twice yesterday trying for the cleric epic guy - Begurgle - pulled 3 tainted over 6 hours and 2 corrupted spawned. All underwater.
RE: common

Mine did. A few months ago, we tried the on land method...WAY to slow and annoying. All jump in with EB (good practice for Kedge) and proceed to destroy any and all goblins..Just as we we're about to give up, pop! Tainted!...pulled, kill, *pop* corrupted!, kill (thinking someone might have died in there) and loot item (clean lakewater) No Bargle, and must have killed 60+ goblins.

Funny you should say that. In the three loooong times I camped this guy until it finally dropped we killed the corupted nearly a dozen times. Lots of happy druids in my guild since you can MQ the clean lake water.
