Someone offering to sell me one of these swore that theirs was shm/all. Could it be that older or newer ones are useable by Iksar?

Iksar cannot wear any jaundiced bone armors. This is due to the fact that iksar can't wear plate armor, because of their scaly skin, or some wierd thing like that.
Iksar can be warrior and shadow knight class , therefore, yes, Iksar CAN wear plate !!!

Nope, classic error - trying to apply logic to EQ.
When Iksar originated, [due to the race "enhancements" (ie regen, swimming etc.)they were born with], they were not allowed to wear "plate" as a "rule".
Well that being then and this now...exceptions prove the rule, rules are meant to be broken, the universe tends toward entropy, man is never perfect, it's a rule of thumb not meant to be perfectly exact... whatever you want to say or apply - things become less critical and change.
