If you want something to eat, and have bear meat, why don't you just buy a filleting knife and fillet it? I guess if your skill is low...but still, at that skill eat rations or other items you make.

Bear sandwiches were in the game back when I started playing in 2001. Filleting knives did not exist, and the only other recipe for bear was the beer braised.
True there are better uses for bear meat NOW, but Sony typically doesn't remove old recipes from the game, just because there is something better now. Also, since bear meat is storebought now, why not make bear sandwiches?
