NW corner of zone many of these skellies and a lot of drops.
NM seems swirling shadows I don't know how many of the others I had on me already.

OK, here's the low down on for what essence of shadow is used. It takes two essence of shadow, as well as an elven blood and a neriak nectar to make a temper for dark elf smithing. Aside from that, it's only useful to sell (and man, do people love to gouge the dark elves). It's super hard to come by, as you can see from the other posts, and it's used in every piece of Dark Elven armor, as well as the few weapons we can make. So if you come across some, and are already loaded, do the Dark Elven society a favor, and sell it at a reasonable price, say 40 pp or less. 100 pp per essence is unreal, that means 200 pp on just the temper, plus the cost of adamantite (which isn't cheap either), hammers, patterns, enchanted metals, imbued stones (just try to find a high level Dark Elf cleric) and other random ingredients.

My friend's 42 Beastlord and I (40 Bard) camped the Shadow Men in Lesser Faydark last night. If no one has been there for awhile, there could be a full spawn there. When we arrived, there were SIX mobs, though only Four of them were Shadow Men (the other two were pets).
We started real carefully, Lull pulling and Charm/Mezzing adds, but eventually realized we could just sit at the spawn point itself :)
In two solid hours of camping, we walked away with 8 Essences, about 90pp in total and had destroyed uncountable NO RENT weapons. I could have done without the latter, and so could everyone else I could possibly imagine (unless you wanted to the Rapier for Jboots or the Scythe for the Necro Harvester I guess :) )
The nice thing about this camp is the respawn rate. They don't all respawn at once, and I think the longest we had to wait was about 4 minutes. Most of the time we were lucky to get a 2 minute respite, which was just about right :)
No XP gains at all, but the fights were challenging when more than two would spawn. Not really deadly, but fun. The things are REALLY fast, as noted numerous places. Not sure I coulda outrun with Selos and Nostrolos, though thankfully didn't need to try :)
But the pathing is absolutely attrocious, more surprising given it's an outdoor zone. If you stand in front of the ramp at the bottom, a bit aways, and pull from the top, the mob is going to descend the ramp and then run South, East, North, South, West, North, all in a wierd spiral all over the zone EXCEPT where you are. We timed one pull from the ramp (before ascending to camp on it). It took a full 70 seconds for a mob to get from the ramp, through all of Lfay and finally to us. Crazy stuff. Worse than Split Paw and City of Mist on their WORST days :)

I camped the Shadower Men in WC, gathered 6 pieces in about an hour. I also had a Vial of Shadow, does anyone know the use for this? it is lore and nodrop
I've been jumping all over to the different camps and have yet to see a decent place to farm essence of shadow. In fact, in well over 100 shadowed men, I have had 1 drop. Are shadowed men on TLC or something?
Not only that, but I can't seem to get any elven blood either. Took my SK to both OOT and TD to hit the outpost and in probably 50 kills I never had one blood drop. This was just after my horrid attempts at getting the essence, and I got so frustrated I gave up.
Now, I dunno what it's like on the other servers, but the economy on Vazaelle is seriously messed up. You can expect to pay 100pp each essence, and anywhere from 25pp and up for elven blood. Personally, I don't have that kind of money to burn... Any suggestions?

The best way for Essence farming (and still painfully slow) is to bounce between the various camps in Lavastorm, WC, Nektulos, and LFay if you have a porting class to use. Sadly, in the time you get the drops you need you could probably farm the 100pp per Essence somewhere else.
The best place I've found for elven blood is Sister Island in Ocean of Tears. They're low level and seem to drop blood about 10-20% of the time.

Hunting in Maiden's eye today at the Akheva zone, our cleric looted an essence of shadows off an umbrous toiler. Much easier to farm Shadowed men, but it did indeed drop in ME.
actually i did get essene of shadow from someone in Madians eye as well. ive only gotten it once. everything else was condensed shadow and essence of darkness. but at least 1 time i did get an essence of shadow, i remember cuz i was like no way! sadly i dont remember who dropped it.

You might be thinking of Essence of Darkness, its the same graphic as Essence of Shadow.
