Blackened Alloy drops off higher end mobs in Runnyeye, they aren't any part, reward or otherwise, of this quest.
No helmet yet

i have been hunting Zarchoomi and Corflunk ever since I was level 10, and have managed to kill them both on 4 occasions. So far I have gotten the Bloodforge gauntlets twice, and the bloodforge legplates twice. No helm. Do people still get the helm?

Still trying, though. I have Corflunk's head and am looking for Zarchoomi again.

In addition, I recently got both heads on Test and received a Bloodforge Bracer for my trouble. Still no helm. :(

I read on equilizer that this quest gave you blackened alloy armor... which has the exact same stats as these pieces but can be worn by alot more people... so what's the deal?

hehe I go to zone into DC with my 13 cleric, when who should start beating on me, but a light blue Corflunk. After running around with his head for a few days, I resist the urge to destroy it in a fit of frustration. Ding 14, running to grab my spells, and what do I see before me? Zarchroomi(sp?) standing on a hill. HA! and just my luck, I get the helm first try...w00t, no more small cloth cap! =D
rare?

The Bloodforge parts have the same AC as small ringmail but are a lot heavier and have more restrictions on who can wear them, which limits your market. I would start with whatever small ringmail parts go for on your server and deduct for the added weight and restrictions on who can equip. The helm with the buffs is special, so you would add for the buffs over small ringmail.

That's speaking from a strictly practical viewpoint. The full suit looks pretty cool, so I suppose there are a few people willing to pay for the chance to strike a pose in this stuff, I'm just not one of them. ;)

# Apr 15 2001 at 10:38 PM Rating: Default
oh man if thats the real price for that helm i got screwed! i sold it to a dwarf for 40p heh damn great quest though stick around DC ent and teh goblin camp near there zarchoomi will spawn careful she goes down a lot harder than corflunk. what i mean by that is she runs at a litle less than half health and has mass hp for such a small lvl
i dont understand....
# Mar 25 2001 at 2:03 AM Rating: Default
Why cant Gnomes where the same stuff dwarfs wear, all gnome stuff can be worn by dwarves, this stinks, i want some bloodforge armor too...
i dont understand....

It's because the Bloodforge Brigade has a longer and more complex history of being enemies to the ogres than the gnomes do and they only allow dwarves to join.

Its because its a dorf only quest..... DORF ARE THE BANE OF OGRES AND OGRES ARE THE BANE OF DORFS!

hehe hope that got the point across. its dorf only because it would only make sense for dorfs to wear it only and there is plenty of stuff for gnomes out there alot better
Luck or what?

My dwarf cleric did this quest, over a period of months, collected both heads as he wandered about, had them banked for a while before discovering what to do with them. It was done without a lot of hope for anything much, having got the gauntlets in trade and ended up selling them for 5pp. Imagine my delight when on receipt of the heads Mr Bloodforge handed me this little beauty. The bronze helm hit the trash faster than a greyhound after a rabbit.

I do wonder how many times some people did this quest specifically for the helm, and got something decidedly less choice?

Quest completed by Grimstone of Morell-Thule.

I received the Helm the first...and only...time I have completed this quest to date. I sold the Helm in Freeport market for 600pp as I am a Druid and cannot wear. However it did take me three weeks to get both Ogre heads, Zarchoomi seems uncommonly rare. Also I understand that the Helm is rarely given...so...if you are a Dwarf it is an excellent item, if not the pay return was nice, for me anyway. Good luck.

It is no better than a Blackened Iron Crown (and I beleive it looks teh same) and I bought a BI crown for 90 plat the other day. The helm is worth no more than 90 plat tops. It drops common in Runneyeye off a 25 mob

It's similar, but the stats are a little lower. Corflunk is only 10-12 and Zarchoomi is 10-14. They are on a spawn cycle, but it's easy enough to figure out. Just keep killing any goblin that is wandering around away from the camps. When you see a goblin wizard, that is Corflunk's placeholder. A goblin shaman is Zarchoomi's. So this quest can be done at a lower level than Runnyeye, and it can be solo'd. Running around alone in Runnyeye when there are still a lot of dark blue and higher mobs up usually doesn't end well. Also, if you're high enough to kill both of them, then you are also high enough to be able to kill the occasional greenblood that might wander by, which are the biggest threat, unlike inside Runnyeye where there are still going to be a few mobs that can rip you apart if they come into aggro range. In Butcherblock, if you do get into trouble, you make a beeline straight for the nearest guard. You don't have that option inside Runnyeye. You have to follow the tunnels to one of the zonelines, drawing aggro from every mob you pass along the way. Given a choice between doing the easy Ogre Heads quest for a slightly inferior suit of armor, or going inside Runnyeye looking for Blackened Alloy parts, I'd rather do Ogre Heads now and save Runnyeye for later.

Consider this...the Spawn rate on the Ogres are few and far in between...also the reward for the heads is one piece of armor at a time, and the Helm is a rare gift. I was paid 600pp for this item on Drinal. I don't think it is worth that...maybe 150 to 200pp is a fair price. But it is relative, anything is worth what someone will pay for it.
Kunatic's opinion
# Feb 06 2001 at 3:07 AM Rating: Default
For some reason this seems to be a GEEERRRRAAATTTEE reward for these ogre heads....having a full set of this on a low lvl (or anyone, really) would look spiffy! But, that is my opinion-hense the title of this- this is a good twink item along with the rest of this type of armor. I jsut wish i could wear this helm...*sigh* oh well FP will have to do =P
