As somehow I cant reply I will answer you this way:
As you see there are 3 possible places to farm. The frequency of getting the hides (equal which) is the same on all places. I will give you an overview upon the advantages and disad. of the 3 places...
Dawnshroud:
Advantage: IF they are present, you have a straight chainpullposibility. So its quiet easy to farm there.
Disadv.: 1.)Many HLvl will farm there ruthless. 2.) They arent allways present, as this is a "Warzone" with the Sambata Tribal. Either they aree here or the hoppers.
Mons Lethalis:
Advantage: There are ALWAYS Hoppers present, and most of them are lower in lvl than in Dawnshroud. So they hunt might be easier for some.
Disadvant.: 1.) Mons is a very cliffy area. So the circumstances for the hunt might be not that fine without Levitation.
2.) Depending on your race/class there will be various adds in your fight. So hunting there right across the zone might not be the best idea .. look for a somekind calm corner there :-)
Scarlet Desert:
Advantage: There is a fine place there to hunt one by one. And thats the rise to the upper plateau if you come from the seaside straight/right. Thats the only place I know rockhoppers in this zone.
Disadvantage: 1.) There will only be about 5 to 7 (sorry .. dont know excactly anymore, as it has been some time for me bein there) rockhoppers at a time there .. so ya might have some time till respawns to regenerate and think over the nice overview from the rise.
2.) To my time there lurks RIGHT in this aera a HUGE Epic 2.0 around, who isnt very nice to people getting near him. He might be a bit nerved if near. But believe me.... if he IS here, you DEFENITLY will see him ;-)

Where and from what do you get the highest rate of drops? Not looking to hog them, but if no one is around...

Well, I tried both Scarlet Desert and Mons Letalis, and didn't get anything. Doing the rockhopper cave, after about 2 hours, i had 3 flawless, 5 superb, 8 high quality and other quality hides, so I'd say there. Pretty fast repop rate.

prices went up because demand went up when they made that earing quest based on trade skill and everybody that wants the earing is now working hard to up their trade skills and snatching up anything that can up their skill.

I remember when these sold for 100pp and that was bad. This price is outrageous considering it takes about 20 combines to get one skill up. This will force people to farm and the greedy people that were xping there will be whinning.
you will notice that the higher the trivial that item is used for, the higher the price goes. it is a bummer because it costs that much more to raise skills. and then ppl wonder why all prices go up

Everything has went up in price that has the "Item is used in tradeskills" tag on it. Then they complain that the finished products are more expensive.
