i want to know what exactly this proc does it sound to me like the spell that would port you to the wc but some of you people are saying something about what sounds like an exp rez can someone clear this up for me?
this effect is a personal teleport to the west commons druid ring. Being a helm type, I'm pretty sure that its a clickable anytime effect. (ie: right click and off to wc with you)
ummm SBD procs at 27. i should know i just started using it and i LOVE that proc. stops the mob dead in its tracks when it gets low enough :P anyway what is SBD doin on this item?
YEE HAW! i started this quest with my lvl15 human/rogue because there were so few rogue quests for low levels, and this cap looked so cool. After getting all the items but the polar bear skin, I found out it was a halfling only cap. DOH!!! Luckily, I had already started a halfling druid character so I figured i'd try to finish the quest and just pass him the cap via an item transfer.
I used my human/rogue to give the guy the four skins, then immediately gave him back the first cap with the dagger and presto! I had the leatherfoor raiders cap finally!!!!! after camping gators for a looong time this finally paid off. My little druid loves his new cap! - plus he's only lvl 5 (7 levels too young to even ask the guy about doing the quest himself)..

I HAVE ROGUES ON 3 DIFERENT SERVERS AND I CAN'T GET THIS GUY TO TALK TO ME ABOUT THIS QUESST AND I AM IN GOOD FACTION WITH THE LEATHERFOOTS. TELL ME MORE????
I dont believe it, been camping out the alligators now for so long, I am too ashamed to say how long i've been there. So far killed about 50 bull and fat alligators and numerous giant mocassins. I have been trying to work out when they spawn, but I find it to be irregular. But I doing what every one here has said, but I have one huge problem, I can't get on top of the undead tower with my halfling druid, cant do it in wolf form or halfling form , sow on or off, walk or run. It is driving me nuts, but I have yet to hear one or have one on track on top of there. And I have also camped em with my little ogre. Lvl 9 and the skin not dropping for her EITHER. (she can get to the top of the tower)

A Quick note to all you would be raiders the quest appears broken anry doesn't respond to anything given to him. I lost all my skins including my gator skin from 2 weeks of hunting. So be careful and test him by giving any other item to see if he gives the standard response. I have reported this bug but they refuse to give back my skins. So say hi if you see me in the swamp crying and killing more gators. Kunima terris thule
Try passing thru SRO to get to innothule being a much lower lvl...it's hella hard. Tried it at 15 with my halfling warrior and got smacked by a terrorrantula for 125 dmg a hit. Came back thru to innothule for the skin being the last piece of the quest and got it form a nice troll who had been hunting there before I. The dragoon dirk is also hella hard cuz a lvl 28 warrior can barely solo the evil Dvinn. All in all, I haven't completed this quest just yet since I have to log on and actually head back to Rivey. Can't wait and it has been a long journey to acquire all the parts required for the quest....but I am glad to say that I completed this one. Also, the bull gators do spawn quite nicely ...tho I don't know exactly where, it was a bit confusing heading deep into the waters and greenery.....I got lost and almost ran into a tower guard. Was fun.
this is one fine chapeau, though it takes a great deal of blood and sweat to earn one.
the grizzly, polar bear, and shark skins are fairly easy to come by, though you have to travel to the four corners of antonica to get them.
alas, you will probably need to purchase the dragoon dirk as the owners of these blades are a very dangerous lot. it will be difficult to part with this fine weapon once you've weilded one, but look at the magicks in this cap!
the gator skin is the leatherfoot raider's bane and will become your never-ending obsession. you will spend days camped in the stink of innothule, killin' skinless gators and runnin' from troll slayers (trust me on this...just run, it's a long corpse run from freeport). if you have a ranger friend, his tracking will come in handy. but unless he is a very good friend, you will be spendin' a good bit of time runnin' around the undead tower lookin' for gators. hunt the giant water moccasins as well, and inspect your loot carefully. your swimmin' skill will certainly increase, but try to tackle these beasties on dry land if you can. they swim better than you ever will and escape quickly when wounded.
one day you will finally find that elusive skin and collapse weeping and thanking bristlebane above. it's a long run back to rivervale, but when you get home, marshall anrey hands you that fine piece of headgear, and the hours spent sloshin' around that cesspoool seem worth it.
the only question i have now is regardin' the possibility a recharge...
nimbledigits, leatherfoot raider of the 15th tier, mith marr
Same question here, as the poor rogue above... A more general version of the question would be, what exactly does "level to attain" mean? Is that the level you need to be to be capable of doing the quest, or does it mean that if you do the quest, and aren't that level at least, you won't get the item???
Level to Attain is usually the level of the highest level mob that you have to defeat to get all the items needed to complete the quest. If that mob comes in a range, this is the bottom of that range.
This cap is clickable even when in your general inventory slot. This means that anyone can use it, halflings are just the only race that can actually WEAR it.
My last druid went through about 5-6 of these while on his way to level 40. Think of it as a portable xp rez.
BTW, 3 weeks for an alligator skin? Don't make me laugh... I never ever had to camp one for more than 3 hours. Bull alligators spawn on the north side of Innothule only; their placeholders definitely include giant water moccasins, so if no bulls are up, kill those. Always check the undead tower in the NE corner of the swamp because mobs often get stuck on the top floor of it, and sometimes bulls will be among them. They drop a skin about 1 in 10 times.
Yo, what server you on!?!?!?! I'm on Brell and have killed 30 bulls and about a half dozen fats and only come away with an Ogre arm. Maybe all the skins are dropping on YOUR server...LOL! =P
if you've never had to wait more than 3 hours, you must live a truly charmed life, my friend. i'd like to go hunting with you...are you on mith marr by any chance?
nimbledigits, halfling rogue of the 15th tier, mith marr
DO NOT just turn it in... (Don't knwo if I should admit this, it is kind of embarrassing to lose a cap like this, but) It didn't work for me (and I am a halfling from Rivervale) so I don't know, now I am on the hunt for the elusive Alli skin again.
I got this cap back in 1999, and I don't remember Marshal Anrey saying anything about getting it recharged. However, if it's like the Squad Ring, you may just need to hand it to him. If I happen upon better headgear in the near future, I'll test it for you.
So what is a fair price for this gator skin? I mean, some people camp weeks, some people get it on first drop. In addition, I am on Tallon. . .Lighties dont last long in the swamp ;)
When it says Charges:1, is it the same as a spell when it says Charges:1?? Or, is it just one charge, and useless after that?? Or can it be REcharged??
thx P.S. Would be awesome if it works like a spell, or could be Recharged....eheheheh!
If anyone actually sold this for that they were on crack, they did it to support their habit. Or they were just so high (I mean level) that they just didn't care for it....It was uncosequential for them....... This would be awesome for a charming druid, A once time use to save exp loss. such as Cazic-Gate potion or a Shiny Brass Idol. Just the thing to keep your **** intact. Great for clerics who fear alot, or just to get a better price for your loot. Why not carry it around? Look at the weight.

the gator skin is found in the innothule swamp, out of Bull gators. Took me 2 weeks (even with tracking) to get my hands on one of those...some are lucky and get them in the first try. Hope you are of those :) Rainpath Riverson Karana's Servant 35th season under the domain of Saryrn
It took me 6 weeks of gator camping and /aucioning, but I got 2 skins in 3 days after a month and a half wait.
It's _really_ worth it!!! Be patient and use track. If there are none near the north edge of the zone, read a book for ten minutes or so. I couldn't keep enough mana to hunt them all.
Also, try popping in on like a Thursday night for just 30 minutes. If they are up, goody, if not, log out.
WOOHOO! I got mine! And one for my wife! Muwahahaha!
No ... but you will probably find it a lot easier to get if you are at least level 25 for the following reason -- The Dragoon Dirk drops off mobs that are in that level range, and in my experience they are quite tough for their level. The Dragoons tend to be VERY magic resistant. Heck, even at level 50 I have a heck of a time getting my snare spells to stick on Dragoon Zytl in West Commons.
You could, of course, buy the Dragoon Dirk needed to complete the quest. That's how I got my first cap. If you take that route, then you could probably get the cap while in your early teens.
As others here have already stated the hardest of the skins to acquire was the alligator skin. Plan on hanging out in the Innothule Swamp for quite a bit of time. The skins are a rare drop off the bull alligators and an uncommon drop off the fat alligators. Even with a ranger or higher level druid tracking to locate the appropriate gators as quickly as they spawn you will most likely spend a lot of time in the swamp before one falls into your hands.
All of you guys forgot about dorn! He's in Nro and pops either at derv 1 or 2. My 13 ranger soloed him for a bit (but, of course, he has a PGT, hehehehehehehe).
