Hi,

Noticed that several typical lvl-up places: PC, CB, HKH, all have an ~80% XP bonus. Is it possible that that is part of the reason that lvl and skills don't match up in the 7-30 lvls? With that large an XP bonus, your weapons skills, especially if you are trying to level up several weapons at once, could well lag. Just a thought.

I picked one of these torches up and had absolutely no clue what it was for until I looked it up just now. Turns out I cannot use it. If it weren't a no drop I would glady give it to one of the people who are looking for it on my server. Let me know if I can be of any help.

Fixed, maybe?

I had been camping and killing this guy for quite a while also with the mysterious "dissapearing torch" phenomena, when I noticed in the last patch message that they fixed the torch drop. Whacked him again and the torch was there. So hopefully it's fixed now ;)

I had my wood elf warrior, got all the armor, took five days, and seven rangers. So i get all the armor, and am so gleeful to take on the weapon quest. 28 levels later, the orc still hasn't dropped the torch needed for the quest. Everytime i see it in his damn hand; I'm not trying to get the weapon quest anymore i'm just seeing if he'll ever drop the torch. He must eat it right before he's about to die or something. my question is this, if this is a newbie weapon... why am way past the time i should of gotten it and the orc still hasn't dropped the torch yet? makes me laugh. and cry... So far Orcish arsonist 4, Natessa 482
POOP!

i was just walking by that area and i saw the arsonist with a torch! i asked for help for a high level bard, i was 9 and he conned red to me, to kill him. needless to say the bard made short work of the orc and guess what? NO TORCH! WTF he had it when he got killed I guess it magically disappeared when i went to loot it...so damn stupid...
But still...

This is better than anything a typical newbie can get through any other means, unless they're handed a weapon. Most people sell even half-decent weapons (11/29s and such) to merchants, these days. This is an improvement over the sword you're given as a newbie, and along with the armour...you can use this until 13 without fear of falling behind much. Most of your skill raises come in between 10 and 20, that's when your skills normally fall in line with your level...Having your melee skills behind your level until that point is common.
Decent newbie sword, however...

Personally, I would prefer to have a sword with lower damage and lower delay. Something like 25 delay 6 damage would probably be better for a low level warrior, because at that level, you're going to level up way too fast to keep your skills up to snuff, and faster delay means more hits per combat for more chances to increase weapon skill.

For a weapon that you're going to outgrow *very* quickly, it would be much more useful if it was a good training weapon, instead of a primary combat weapon.
