This is a rather easy quest to finish and get all the headbands and get this one, makes a great sale item, ussually sell mine for b/w 1500 - 2000pp. Don't feel bad about selling it to monks that don't want to waist the time to get faction up or just have to travel all over the place. I've seen one sell for as much at 4K to a desperate monk that couldn't get Ghanex Drah to spawn.

If I keep selling enough of them I might one day have enough money to get that Jade Reaver I need for my epic, it would be quite ironic if I had to buy it from a monk hehe.

Just my 2 cents

This is very simple quest to do these items...you can buy them or simply do them yourself. My lvl 30 monk got the red sash within an hour. But whoever has done this have you noticed the faction you recieve? Pay attention ...That faction is very important for later steps in you epic...oh well i will most likely sell mine for 2-3k anyway and do it over
iksar able? =/

Hey, Ive got an iksar monk and Im worried about something...I wanna do the RotLC quest albeit I need the purple sash and such...was wondering if I would HAVE to buy this headband thingy or if it is even able to be done by an iksar...WITHOUT having to get all the stupid faction...ANYWAYS! thnx

If you dont fancy doing faction work and cant afford to buy one another way to do it would be to create a new human monk in qeynos. get the quest items as your iskar then transfer them to the human to submit them to the guildmasters. all the items used in these quests are not nodrop

There is quite a market for these items to the monks who did not take the time as they were lvling to complete the quests... now they are in a spot where they want their epic and need to go back and either do the quest or luckily buy the item from a lower lvl monk who did take the time to do the quest.

Actually it helps the lower lvl monk by giving him a big chunk of change that he might not get any other way. The higher lvl monk can afford the 4k or so from items they might get on one raid. With that 4k, a young monk can do some nice equipping and make it easier to get another sash since you are in the mindset from just doing it.

I am not sure I agree with the higher lvl buying it but that is his/her business...

I sold 2 of these. The first I got with my monk. Sold it for 4k. The second I did with my druid over the next 2 days and sold for 3k. The third, which my monk will keep was gotten again with my druid. Sure it took me some time but I had collected the skins and a few of the heads in my earlier travels with other chrs and I made 7kpp and have the pride of doing a part of 2 other monks epics that they did not want to take the time to do. I did. For it I have nice weapons and armor that I would not have otherwise.

Think Before You Speak..
# Jun 06 2002 at 9:00 AM Rating: Good
Even though this discussion was a long time ago I still want to post my thoughts..

I really think you guys should think before you speak.. simply put you guys missing one huge piece of the puzzle because you have been playing everquest way too much and have lost sight of your newbie roots. Want to know what your missing? Not everyone is a twink.

Lets think for a second and go back to when you have absolutely nothing and you just bought the game for the first time and create a guy.. lets say a MONK! Now take a look at the scenario.. you have nothing but your tunic from your guild and your fists.. I think you will gladly do the simple white headband quest for the crappy, yes, but better than nothing quest when your killing the stupid things anyways.

You have to realize not everyone is a twink and seeing that this is a beginning to even better things to come this is probably the best thing Verant can do for a newbie in eq. I don't know many other chars that the beginning of their epics start out with a piece of equip that you can get at lvl 1 for your char when he is nekkid.

If you want to look at it another way, think of this way. It's for the monk epic to get the headbands. Nuff said.

I started doing the headband quests at level 1 as a Qeynos monk. I am now level 36, my main, and until yesterday had both the red sash and the purple headband. Then while playing my druid alt in BB I noticed a 47 monk offering to buy the BB Gnoll Skin and Pelts. After a while with no response he sent out an ooc "WTB Purple Headband". I didn't really want to sell it as I put a lot of time into it, but he offered me a Knuckleduster and 400pp. I simply could not resist.

...than reply to the above post.

As it is mentioned already on this page a few times, you don't quest for the headbands to wear them you need them as pre-quests for the monk epic.

Sure, I only have 24th Iksar monk who has Orange Headband and Orange Sash so I can't talk about how great it is have <insert uber item name here> and what not but I've enjoyed spending quite a bit (slight understatement) of time on faction. I can bank and train in Freeport (Dubious with pallies and militia, and Ally with monks), I can bank in Highkeep (dubiously), I can buy/sell in the warrior guild in Kelethin (banker is not on work-able faction), I am dubious with the guards in Butcher Block. I got some RL friends of mine who have leveled their chars higher and faster, however, they seemed to be having little fun with EQ.

Everquest was meant as a Roleplaying Game. If you can't roleplay you are missing out on A LOT. I can't change how most people act but I don't need to listen to rants (*sigh* even like mine) abotu how the stats on this; suck, blow, are worthless, etc... I personally wear my Orange Sash with pride knowing that I didn't just make a monk in Freeport and/or Qeynos for the sole purpose of the quests.

As for the info you seek, try looking up the quest for the red headband. That is the quest that takes you to South Karana after the Gnoll High Shamans. Or if you are after information on Epic, RotWF, RotLC, and such try going here...

http://www.monkly-business.com/articles.asp?ArticleId=1

Sorry to to those who like me don't like rants. Hopefully atleast have some constructive info puts this on top of most of the other near-pointless rants.

Amen. It is possible for iksar to get the red sash and purple headband by killing the monk trainers, for people who don't care about making nice with the humans, which I think is good from a realistic rolelaying perspective, having an alternate method for people who want to roleplay their iksar that way. I personally prefer to play my monk as a "tourist," who doesn't mind killing low level creatures or preforming menail tasks to get on people's good side. I worked up my Ashen Order faction by "faction borrowing," went to the orc camps and gave a weak kick to each of the orcs people were camping there to get the faction without stealing their kills. Sometimes I'd take on the entire WC orc camp by myself, as that one doesn't seem to be camped very often, at least not on my server.

Still need to work on Silent Fist. I've killed so many gnolls that my faction with them can't get any worse and my faction with non-corrupt guards is amiable, but I still only have dubious faction with the monks. Well, more time in Blackburrow it looks like.

I currently can bank in Freeport, Rivervale, and Qeynos. And I can walk through Butcherblock without being hassled by the dwarf guards. I plan on working on other cities, but want to get my red sash before moving on. Ekeros shouldn't be too hard to camp, although Befallen looks to be a pain. But it's worth the effort.

Its getting to the point where I dont even want to read these posts. I for one think the sash is a good item. Why? because not many head gear items give stats for several areas.. just one like str for instance. Who cares that it may only be one or two points added..with enough items it adds to alot. Especially our agility. I wear mine..I dont care about getting the best item out there that we can wear. Its not important! I for one think its more fun and challeging to get your character fully outfitted as time goes by. No twinking no begging. Im above that. This is a game of Roleplaying not lets beat the other guy to the punch and then laugh at them because they have low lvl gear. I know a high lvl with a rusted blade and no armor could crush a lower lvl player fully decked out.
Anyway have fun and happy hunting!

RE: crap that cost to much
# Jun 09 2001 at 5:46 PM Rating: Excellent
It's funny how all I see on this board is complaining about the weak stats on this item. It's been said and I'll repeat it - the item is only a step in the epic quest. Ya don't do the purple hb quest because it's a great item. You do it because you want to play the role of the monk, and because ultimately you want the epic weapon. The RoLC is a pretty good item, by the way, and worth the work. There are better head items out there, and when I go on tougher raids I wear my best gear, but I'm pleased and proud that I've done my monk quests as I went along. If ya just want to have all uber-gear, monk is not the best choice for you.

As for the price, I'm all for charging a lot of money for this item. The stats aren't why it costs - the amount of work required in getting one, and its usefulness in doing the epic, is what drives the price.

Someone asked me the stats on this item when I was selling it... I laughed. Has anyone else noticed that when someone asks stats on something they seldom buy it? Some items are worth it for the stats, other items may be worth plat for other reasons. If someone is a serious buyer they will do their research before looking for an item. I have stopped even answering the "what are the stats?" questions, more often than not it is just someone looking to slam me about the price versus the stats... meanwhile I'm selling the item to a happy buyer that understands the value may not be in the stats. If you buy the quest items for all the headbands they will cost you easily over 1000pp (Zaharn's Coronet, Marnek's Dagger, Dareb's Skull, and all the others), add that to the time involved in getting them and doing the quest and you are easily over 1500pp. I had to do my Purple Headband quest all over again because I stupidly sold my first one for 2000pp and I regret it. I won't sell it again. If you are looking for a decent head item for your monk do your research like the rest of us and you will realize that the Purple Headband is NOT a good head item, it doesn't take a genius. There are plenty of good items out there. Don't waste peoples time with "what are the stats?", it's much easier to know what you want and just say "I'll buy that". And, if you don't like the price... DON'T BUY IT!
RE: crap that cost to much
# Jun 19 2001 at 4:11 PM Rating: Decent
The ability to buy this comes from people that are unable to run the quests themselves.

Don't forget this my friend - The complaints of the stats come far before the epic quests where even around!

I personally think the stats sucks myself, and never wanted to run the quests at all, but now that our epic requires these things, I'm a bit forced to /sigh.

I have no intent on buying this item from anybody unless it was in reason ( couple hundred plat? maybe? ). Don't forget my friend, cause of the weight limits, monks aren't rich. My monk only has about 500plat in the bank, and he's lvl40 :(

( All epic quests where released into the game shortly before Velious was opened to the public. )
RE: crap that cost to much
# Aug 16 2001 at 6:23 PM Rating: Default
Well to say something on behalf of this, while true that the epics werent around when this item was avail. I dont think the price was as high to buy it. To be honest Im suprised that its not a no drop. Since most class only items are that way. Like I posted before, I dont think the stats are all that bad really. Multi areas of boost in str, agi..etc for the lvl of obtaining it isnt that bad. Sure there are alot of other super monk related head gear that one can wear, but like you said, just because we can't carry much around doesnt mean were rich. So with that in mind I dont think a lvl 30 is going to be able to get the awsome head gear for the price or the ability to go and get it from the mob.
Anyway take care and happy hunting.

That's not the point you moron. If you want to run around just killing NPCs and such, play Unreal or Diablo. EQ is a massive RPG, which means you're supposed to be questing, not gathering a bunch of people together to take out the quest NPCS. Some people never learn, I swear.

The reason the headbands aren't so great is cuz its just a quest component (along with red sash of order) for the Robe of the Lost Circle. Then you need the RotLC for the RotWF. This is just a small price to pay for the monk's epic-the Celestial Fists. (Which i heard make a monk's fist with the added haste 9/10)If you need more of the monk's quest, check out the web site:

Good luck monks.
EPIC
# May 03 2001 at 7:04 PM Rating: Default
Yes! they suck.. bad even. But there for the epic. I had the purple haedband and the red sash by 16th level. I had my RotLc at lvl 28 (grrouped with 36 - 40's camping it) and paid to multie quest the Rotwf at lvl 36. Sure i cant even start my epic for a while (Dont even know how) But i have the stuff needed to get it when the times come (13-14 levels). So im glad i did the quests at the beginning so that i could get my robe. I love my robe and i look SICK!!

Ok let's stop and think about this for a minute? What do most people do quests for? Not the iteam really but for the props you get from people when they come up and look at your crap you got on. How many people do you see walkingaround Norrath with one of these things on? Really be honest how many? That's my point if and when you do see one ask them if they are going for there epic and then see how stupid you feel when 20 lvl's later they have there epic and you are sitting there "This thing sucks there's no point in doing the quest".

Why don't ya all check out the reward for the quest that requires this headband...

Then check out the reward for the quest that requires that robe...

Then check out the reward for finishing the epic quest that requires all that...

Stop yer whinin'. This is just an intermediate reward for a much larger and better quest.
RE: That is Disapointing
# Jan 28 2001 at 2:51 AM Rating: Default
Because this item is going to be used later on for the Monk's Robe quest. So I think the developers think the players don't care. The Skull of J'hentara is too much weight; that's disadvantage for monks.

I agree with the above, 0.0 wgt and 5 things altered although not by much is still nice, and
these headbands are some of the nicest things we
can wear like it or not. We can quest them ourselves as well dont have to buy because its
far to hard to get for your lvl. just my 2cp
