I dont know how in the heck im supposed to sell this item for 350p. On Kane Bayle, my cost was: 3 acrylia rings (50p each x 3), 2 windstones (250 x 2p), essence of wind (45p), vial of clear mana (20p), Chain mail pattern (8p)= 723p! Not to include NO SKILL RAISES, or FAILED COMBINES! yes, im a littl perturbed with Varants smithing accelerations. So, i guess we all must BE rich to BECOME rich....sounds like the real world to me...arghhhhh!
Well for starters...you are supposed to farm the ingredients...not bazaar farm them. You could then sell for a reasonable and make a reasonable profit. But hey, what do I know?
Acrylia is a cheap armor to make... if you farm the ingredients. I commend Verant for the design of this armor. It encourages people to *gasp* work for the ingredients by hunting it rather than shopping in the bazaar-o-mall. You CAN and many people DO make very good plat off of skilling up with acrylia armor.
Acrylia ore: dropped by grimlings in Tenebrous Mtns. (hunt the grimling caves in the southern zone wall, near the the southwest corner of the zone; good xp for a group in their mid to upper 30's). Or, if you are in your upper 40's, a group of 45+ can go into Acrylia Caverns and farm acrylia ore there while getting xp.
Windstones: dropped by grimlings in Tenebrous Mtns., earth elementals in Twilight Sea, and Cral Ligi mobs in Tenebrous Mtns. (the elementals in Twilight share a common faction that cannot be repaired. Druids might want to stay out of groups hunting elementals here since the port-in spot is smack in the middle of elemental central. Everyone starts off indifferent to the elementals. Killing even one type [air, earth, fire, water] drops faction with all. If you hunt here long enough, you WILL be KoS. The elementals are in the upper 20's for level. Elemental Island in Twilight Sea is THE best place, IMHO, for farming several of the smithing temper components: lava rock and drops of mercury for dorf cultural armor; essence of wind and windstones for acrylia armor; swirling mist for high elven cultural armor)
Essence of Wind: dropped by air elementals in Twilight Sea and Cral Ligi mobs in Tenebrous Mtns.
The only plat that I spend when making acrylia armor is for the emeralds, poison vials, armor molds, water flasks, and (if need be) commissioning a helpful enchanter to make the vials of clear mana.
Now, I do realize that it takes a substantial amount of time to farm the components. I agree with Dargadin in that the windstones can be a pain in the **** at times. However, at a minimum, I recommend hunting the acrylia ore. It drops at a respectable rate, IMHO.
Also, with the fixing of Hollowshade Moor in June or July of 2003, the zone can no longer get "stuck" with one mob type occupying all three camps. Some player involvement is needed to coerce the war. If you want to go the shadowscream route, you want owlbears (for wailing substance) or sonic wolves (for shrieking substance) to occupy the southern camp (normally inhabited by grimlings). If you can get this to happen, and if you have a couple groups to mass-kill the southern islands, you can get, on average, one drop per minute. If you do not have an organized group to coerce the war and maintain its status quo once your desired mob is occupying the southern camp, then it's tough to get the drops here for shadowscream armor.
Anyhoo, them's my opinions. I hope that someone finds the information on component drop locations useful.
Huzzah!

Even if you ARE rich, you will become POOR trying to raise your skill doing Acrylia armor. I did two full suits of Acrylia plate and got two skillups. Each suit cost me about 10,000pp to make.
Shadowscream armor seems to be the way to go unless you ar elucky enough to have a good set of cultural armor (read: DWARVES). Of course this requires some questing and ENDLESS farming of materials, and it seems that hundereds of combines are requires to get a skill up after you hit 190 or 200 or so.
I feel for you, Acrylia is WAY too expensive to make. It would help the the darn Windstones weren't such rare drops.
Since the item requires 3 acrylia rings, a chainmail pattern, 2 windstones, and an essence of wind, I would estimate minimum cost would be about 400 or so, if you didnt farm anything yourself. Large Bricks run about 80-100 on my server (40/ring), windstones about 1-150, essences of wind about 20. Throw in the pattern (10 or so), and thats the smith's BASE cost. Its reasonable to expect a markup heh.
The mobs that drop these are called Blacksmiths, they usually hang out in the bazaar. Unfortunately, they cannot be killed for it, you must complete their quest. Collect some variable amount of platinum, usually 1500 to 2000pp and trade it to them for this item.
SSeriously, its made by players. Look in the bazaar, or on your server auction channel.
My little level 20 female gnome shadowknight has a full set of small acrylia chain armor. This is gray in color, but is very nice armor.
I am a 49 druid with a 178 smithing skill, yet I was successful on every attempt of each piece of this set. I don't have a geerlok hammer, I was just lucky.
I have a cropped picture in jpg format. I will read the guidelines tomorrow on how to submit a pic and hopefully we will see something in the near future...
Yes it does have the sv Magic +10, saw one for sale in the new bazaar when looking for new armor for my warrior, i do believe the acrylia studded leather has the same save and stats but lower AC for those classes that cannot wear chain mail.
