You would think that the designers would think about later quests and have items that follow the same skill paths

I have read several posts here. A lot of good points have been made. My point is this, if you are any class, you need to do your best to up defense and at least one weapon skill. You never know when you will need a weapon skill of some sort and defense speaks for itself. So for the first 25 levels of your life, you should melee a little bit. The fact that we can now Bind Would up to 70 percent only reinforces this fact.

So choose one skill and get it up to par with your defense at low levels. Cause once you hit the high levels, you will not be able to do it at all.

PS It is about 3am .. hope my hands were as fast as my brain and got all the words right hehehehe

/salute
Ok Stats
# Jun 10 2003 at 12:21 PM Rating: Decent
Ok, granted the 2hb this kinda blows...but how many casters are meleeing? Root and nuke is the name of the game for them from a very early level. This weapon combined with all the other stat increasing armor will give them large mana pools and increase thier magical ability.
So yeah, 2hb sucks. But if you're short on plat and need some ac and stat increases this is a good wep to have.

I agree. No one should be complaining about these stats, not saying anyone is though. Sure it is 2HB, and not the greatest ratio, but you wont be meleeing much (unless root break/pet is dying). And you wont exactly have a stein of moggok at the lvl you get this, unless you get alot of money.

Besides, it is good to raise melee stats. Can come in handy later on in life
Dagger

I got my dagger skill up pretty high, have no money, and am looking for good dagger for a hie wiz. This staff looks like more effort than its worth, especially since I'll be starting at skill lvl 0 for 2H blunt. Does anyone know of any good quests for a lvl 18 to get a good dagger? It also seems to me like there wouldn't be any better armor for me than this Art Keepers stuff, right? Quest only, I do not have money, or time to make money via auctions. What's twinking?

At your level you should look at getting the Dragoon Dirk from Crushbone. It is not wonderful (I think 6:23) but much better than standard shop bought weapons. You need to kill an Elf called D'vir something in Crushbone and he drops it.

Look it up and you should find out how to get it.

Twinking is doing the same thing for yourself that has everyone thinking you are a great person when done for another and gets you looked down on by the close minded.

Let me explain that confusing sentance. If as a mid to high level character I sees some newbi and gifts them armor and weapons I am seen as generous. If on the other hand I give the same armor to one of my characters it is called twinking and everyone looks down on me.

Now for the amusing part. If the other person is a true newbi to the game they do not understand that the armor I am giving them hurts thier character. Lets say the character is lvl 4 and has the skills of an average level 4 char. Ones defencive skills are built up by being hit but not taking damage. Stange but true your chance to defend and not be hit only goes up when you have been hit but your defence skill stopped the damage. The same is true of the weapons. If your armor or weapons make it so you do not need to use your skills they do not increase. So hours later you have a lvl 13 character with lvl 9 skills. Let the character make a mistake and go to Firona Vie and get tangled with a dracnid and you have a lvl 13 character that can not defend himself in his next battle. So people see you as a good person when you hurt someone else in the game but not when you hurt one of your characters even though your high lvl character could replace the armor and weapons for yourown lvl 13 in 1/2 an hour. Who is going to help the poor newbi players character?

BTW the story on firiona vie is only a slight modification on a story that really happened to me. I was not tweenked and had not had anything gifted to me. I spent over a day trying to find a necro to recover my corpse before giving up. The good part is on my last effort someone told me about the newbi armor quests so I began my carrer as a quester.

You are all missing the point
# Mar 21 2003 at 9:34 AM Rating: Excellent
The point is not wether it is a good weapon or not. It is about the quest. For those who really are new to the game, this will give them something as a reward for learning the game. I do not think that all of those using the bazaar has anything to say. Name of the game is EverQUEST, not EverTWINK.

I twink and run the quests. Twinking makes it easier to finish a quest... Why does everyone assume that twinking and questing are mutually exclusive activities. And quite often I use the stuff I quest in preferance to the "better" stuff I used to get it.

I do not like to die in the game every time I am trying to finish a quest. I have a guild to help me but sometimes everyone is busy and a person has to solo it. I see nothing wrong with giving myself an advantage when I have to be alone. I aslo give items away when I see someone who looks like they would appeciate it.

What I see as deplorable is begging items or money from someone or everyone.

it is a piece of junk isnt it, then i saw it was 2hb omg. this thing would only be good for a mage because they have pets to do the fighting. and i only say that because of the 2int on it
:)

I think I'll stick with my dragoon dirk instead of this piece of junk.

Why a 2 H Blunt
# Jul 30 2002 at 3:01 AM Rating: Decent
i will not use this weapon, it would be spreading my skill points and practice time too thin. Personally i like my dagger and the epic Quest is a 1 H blunt.

The newbie Dark Elf Necros don't get a weapon. Like the good Gnome Casters they get a book, it has 5Int and a lot of other stats to make up for the fact that it is not a weapon.
This would be a decent staff for the newbie High Elves, but for it being a 2hb kinda of sucks.

Still doesn't come close to the good gnome newbie final task: A book with +5INT, +5CHA, +5SvP, +5SvD, +10HP, +20mana. It's not a weapon, but it's still great to have in hand.

: cheers VI for newbie elf quests, but wonders what they have against the ogres and trolls? Not to mention the Erudites?!?

Yep, or the newbie dark elf necro book.
