Why Not
# Aug 11 2003 at 12:27 AM Rating: Decent
I have a 53 monk - striving to become a grand master baker. I have been stuck at 193 FOREVER!!!
So I am running around killing anaconda's and griffons for meat. Invariably, if the fight is close I will get adds in the form of green wolves, bears, and such or worse - Drk Blue black panthers. I discovered that I could run through the poacher camp - and the poachers will pick off the bears, wolves or panthers - and in general ignore the griffons and anacondas completely - allowing me to finish them off. Then I sit back and watch the fight (medding) and I kill whoever survives (generally with very little health) and get the experience for that as well. Has been great fun - I occassionally gather up all the furry animals I can find and wipe out the camp - a tent at a time.
While doing this an occasional named poacher will pop - seems a shame NOT to kill em? It is a free item then. So, I gather up a black panthers and train the poachers around the fire until the named is the only one that remains - and at half life at that. Makes it REALLY easy to pick up the heads this way. Not to mention picking up skins, teeth, livers, and skulls from assorted animals for other quests.
Just a What I have discovered....

Misty Thicket Picnics. They were put in the game for a reason. Go make them and get 250 baking within 2 days...

For sale ?

How could this be sold ? Isn't it a NODROP ?
Is there a way one can sell and give NODROPS away ? I'm just learning so please be kind.

not sure if this will work but with the advent of the new GoD and with it the tribute system this may be a good way to get rid of the No Drop stuff you come across by giving it to your city tribute taker, it's one less No Drop you can't use and possible faction raises for you instead in the tribute areas

This ring can be sold in the Firiona Vie server. Most items (with the exception of epics) had the No Drop tag dropped.

Yes, I'm on FV. I should really pass on posting anything about selling stuff considering the majority of items I'm talking about probably are No Drop and the majority of players wouldn't ever see them in the bazaar. Anyway, guess I have to go somewhere to chat pricing and get price quotes even if I'm only talking to a very small sect of the larger community. Truly though I do love the number of "you idiot this is no drop" messages I've seen from people that want to sound smart, like yah I can see that in the picture.

I hope this was really worth 500 PP to someone. I put most of my personal use items up for sale for about twice their true worth... just so happens this one was in the middle of my bunch of Jagged bands and it sold in the Bazaar. I was just joking around by putting it in the middle of all the jagged bands which I had up for 75PP. Anyway, PAY ATTEMTION to what your buying in all cases (doublecheck before you hit buy). Can't say how many times it has happened to me that I've bought something I can't even use.

Yeah I'm on FV, still though my pay attention to what you buy point doesn't deserve such a low rating. Haha, flame on.

I think I failed to mention I'm on FV... my apoligies to the wider world that doesn't know my world when they wish to flame about no drop.

My 55 druid friend got his. Had NO faction. Just turned in the 4 heads and had ring. Saved 2K. Going back for mine and my bride to be's this weekend. Took him an hour. Some people seem to think everything should be Micky D's take out on quest...geez. LOL
It is called EVERQUEST.....not No quest.
It is a game. Enjoy it -)
U all are missing the point tremendously fellas

Unless Im mistaken and I'm bout 80 percent sure I'm not, This is a Sigil Ring folks, what have we learned at least I have from Sigil anything, Its a starter ring, a continuing quest, I have the Etched earing of veracity, working toward my sigl earing that is ac6 str5 sta5 wis5 int5 and 4 to all saves. This ring sounds quite similar, I would expect that once discovered the continuation will be better then any player made VBD ring. Course thats just my input, I could be wrong.

actually the sigil earring is;

AC25, STR 25, STA 25, INT 25, WIS 25, 10 to all saves, and a clicky effect called acumen(think its clicky)

You turn in the 4th earring and Lord Inquisitor Seru's head for it

#REDACTED, Posted: Oct 22 2002 at 10:26 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) If you haven't been PKed since 19....why the hell are you worried about losing the velium rings? BTW, you can get the plat versions, which, on our server (yes, I'm also on Rallos), are much much cheaper, despite their suporioty to this ring. Haha so get one of those =P Don't worry about the +25mana...how much does Ensnare cost? Hehe, think, really, its quite neglictable. 25HP? Not horrible, but you're gonna lose that all in the first half of a hit from a PK, if your AC is high. So, hey, its not really that big of a difference. The resists on the droppable plat ring are not much higher, and, really, I guess not many PKs use poisen or diesase, save the necros, and they're taken out easily enough as is. Anyhow, I'm just saying, this is a leveled playing field man.

If you were farming/exp grinding the poachers and you eventually got these 4 heads that's one thing, but I don't think the time involved doing this quest (probably a number of hours repeatedly clearing the poacher camp to get the four to spawn) would be worth it, but that's just one druid's opinion.

LOL. It is worth the time to get your faction back with the Rangers in Surefall Glade... OK OK , I killed Holly way too many times Moons and Moons ago. Who the hell knew they were gonna put in a druid portal in SF Glades anyway... just my luck:( AND HELL YES IT'S WORTH ALL THE TROUBLE CUASE IT WAS SWEET REVENGE ON MISS HOLLY WINDSTALKER :)
RE: Probably not worth the effort

Not to mention the immense factioning right Illovich? In order for you to do any other quest, you will need atleast 10 hours of killing poachers or Gnolls....so it looks like they are rewarding you for all the faction work you have to do to initiate all the other quests. After all, Jaggedpine Treefolk (in Surefall) wasnt a highly regarded faction to have unless you were a druid or ranger....so why not get a little reward for some mindnumbing faction work to move on to bigger and better quests. I know my necro is Dubious to the guards there and if I want that 5th badge, im gonna have to do some serious faction work. Even my druid cant get some of the NPC's to talk to me except for saying "you need to prove yourself to our cause". Ill take the no drop ring (Rallos Zek) and enjoy a fruit of my labor

Just so everyone knows I can admit that I'm wrong, this quest is worth doing if you are faction grinding the JP Residents faction.

As a 52 druid, I teamed up with a 60 monk...(that is to say I snared for a 60 monk while he killed EVERY POACHER EVER, lol and he was cool enough to let me loot everything...wheee!) and we ground through the whole camp on a cycle, a lot of times. No good estimate how many times, but I'll rough guess 30 times.

This + a couple fangs + doing the letter quest a couple times got me to kindly, and then handing in the heads jumped me to warmly.

WOOT.

The ring, however, is lame, except on PVP maybe.

For raids..
# Jul 27 2002 at 6:38 AM Rating: Decent
I would consider using these instead of a velium diamond ring if a bard is present. If you are just farming HoT, you only need 105 in FR/CR really, so the added hp will help you, while still keeping your resists up:)
Re: Lame
# Jul 27 2002 at 1:48 AM Rating: Excellent
I am really not one to flame, but the tone of these posts is really negative, so the ring could use some AC, but for the most part I would think thia would qualify as decent resist gear, especially if you are lucky enough to pick one up while getting helped along in the quest by higher lvl players. Or better yet, how about an extra 25 mana a healer type can slip on in the middle of combat and maybe get one extra cast off or to help an OOM cleric have enough to rezz a bit quicker if someone dies. Or what about just for the positive faction it gives, gee quests to improve faction, now why would anyone want to do that... Anyway c'mon this is a brand new zone, just sit back and enjoy it, who knows, just maybe this might part of another larger quest, ok enough ranting, I am done...
RE: Re: Lame
# Jul 27 2002 at 5:42 AM Rating: Default
Unlike +hp items, +mana items do not add mana when you put them on. This is because going OOM doesn't kill you... you could take a high mana item, like a kedge robe, off when oom, put it back on, cast a 100 mana nuke or heal, and repeat this forever.

You're thinking of Vellium Diamond Wedding rings. +8 to all resists.

Nah, the first guy is right. You're much better of getting a jewler to make some velium blue diamond rings.
RE: No, they're lame
# Jul 28 2002 at 1:49 PM Rating: Decent
Why does everyone have to but items down????

Yes the VBD ring is super sweet, but at the same time the BD's are a rare drop and if you go to buy them they are costly :( Yes 8 to all resist is better then 5 to cold fire and magic, but when you don't have the plat to buy BD's or the lvl's to farm BD's 5 to cold fire and magic is better then nothing at all. That and all you have to do is kill poachers and collect their heads. Yes that may not be a simple as it sounds, but it might be faster then trying to get BD's, and save you plat and build factions at the sametime.

EDITED

I Stand corrected after reading another post .. is is the Diamond ring ... but Diamonds are still costly and to buy the rings are costly also. I still am one to go with some resists mana and hp's over nothing at all.

If you think BDs are rare, do the ulthork tusk quest to the Othmir chief in CS. Done six turn ins so far. Result BDx3, Diamondx2, Ruby. Granted I might just be getting lucky. Tusks seem to be streaky drops. Also, beware, I also heard there's a "boobie prize" attached to the quest where you might get crystalized sulphur instead of a decent gem. Hope it helps.

I would consider this quest for my warrior as resist gear. I normally use 6ac 65hp rings, but when I am on dragon raids and ToV raids I need Fire and Cold resists. This ring gives 5 fire/cold/magic resist PLUS 25 hit points. Its not bad at all given the right situation.
RE: Lame
# Aug 17 2002 at 11:48 PM Rating: Decent
You'd still do better to get a Velium Diamond ring on one hand and leave one of your 6 AC 65 hit point rings on, or two Velium Diamond rings and a hit point item elsewhere. I hate saying an item stinks as well, but this one really is lacking in value (there again, just my opinion and no offense to any intended). I can't think of any situation I would prefer this over a different combination of other gears, resist or normal hunting. Perhaps superior for a pallie since it has mana as well. Good hunting to all, and Karana bless you.
