The spiders that spawn ARE are GM event. You'll notice that the Yellow widow "named" one cons indifferently and randomly wanders around blinding people - GM controlled.

This and other class crowns as well as class belts drop off of Deathspinner Spiders in Butcher Block, which spawn in groups of 20 and up along with a few named about 2 or 3 times a month.
