Shin Greaves  

 

I would like to point out that despite the equipment information graphic, when equiped these things don't actually look black.

it's too bad these are no drop. vendors pay 32pp for them.

Well those greaves where part of my own little quest. They can be obtained pretty early .. maybe at lvl 10 or sooner and are good equipment for that level, even if you're not a bard - its fun just to wear them (looking like fine plate), it is a real adventure to get them and the stats are ok.

To get them you mustn't have killed *one* live frog.
Get some good maps for the following zones you have to cross to get to lower guk (from freeport):
- North Ro
- Oasis
- South Ro
- Inothule Swamp
- Upper Guk
Then get a SoW (either in NRo or Oasis .. it helps if you donate)
Run trough all the Zones - always stay close to the walls except there are some camps (orc, derv etc.) close. - the shortest way is not always the best and Sandgiants can probably outrun you even with SoW on.

Be very careful in the Swamp - you are KoS to the guards and almost anything there except for the frogs - and cant use SoW speed very well (danger of falling off the walls or just running into something you don't want to run into). /con anything in sight.
Con the frog guards at guk entrance - if they are dubious or better you're fine.

Nothing in upper Guk aggroed on me as long as i was there. Just some general advice:
- Don't toucht a Frog
- Don't heal people fighting Frogs (tell them you can't - if you become KoS to the Frogs CR without major help deeper down in Guk will be impossible)

Make your way to Lower Guk (on the EQatlas Map its point 7)
you can get lost very easily - its a confusing dungeon - having a map and a compass or very good "sense heading" worked fine for me (even got some nice extra items for helping people find their way around/to certain spawns :o) but you shouldnt try any spells that twist you around like "sense..." or "true north".

In lower guk stay really close to the zone. There are almost always people fighting shin knights or shin ghouls. (don't heal them when they fight shin knights - but if you are polite you tell them before that you cant help them - but chain casting even lower lvl heals when they are fighting ghouls will help them a little - especially in very close fights - and improve your live-guk faction :o)

Ask if you can have any spare shin greaves or gloves.
That's how i got my nice new shiny shin greaves :o)
