Protection of Norrath's Fire:
Armor from the Ores and great
beasts of Kunark

Beasts that can live and
thrive in lava are a
fascinating dichotomy of life.
We can use the properties of
these creatures to our advantage. Additionally, the
ore found from magical
creatures keep the soul of
fire within.

If you are reading this book,
I won't insult you by telling
you when to use a forge, and
when to use a loom. You
obviously have the skills to
make the correct choice.

The metal sheets you need are
simply hammered from ore with
a heart of fire using a
standard smithy hammer. Using

the same ore, you can hammer
it into a wire and while it
is still hot in a forge, use
pliers to shape and cut the
wire into rings for chainmail.

You can also work the reptile
skin of the beasts with a
skinning knife to make fine
protective leather. Similarly,
sew eight measures of silk
together with a sewing needle
to make a swatch of
high-quality cloth.

With these basic supplies you
can make armor. For each
profession, there is an emblem
available that will be needed
as part of the combine. These
emblems have a cost to them,
but the magic within attunes
them to each individual's
skills.

For plate armor you will need
to heat the forge with
Phlogiston Coal and use
Phlogiston Loam while shaping
the plates with your smithy
hammer into an appropriate
mold with the emblem for the
class you want the armor
protect. When shaped, use a
flask of water to cool it.

You will use one sheet for
bracers and gauntlets, two for
boots helms and vambraces, and
three for greaves and
breastplates.

Chain armor uses the same
supplies and steps, except you
will use chain rings instead
of sheets and of course you
need pliers instead of a
smithy hammer and use

chainmail template patterns
instead of molds.

For leather armor, you will,
of course, need a sewing
needle. You will treat the
leather with Phlogiston Tannin
and use Phlogiston Thread to
attach the emblem. For the
remainder of the sewing you
will need a Spool of Simple
Thread and the appropriate
leather template pattern. Use
the same amount of leather as
you would use metal sheets.

And finally for cloth, do the
same as leather, but treat the
cloth with Phlogiston
Detergent and use a silk
template pattern. For robes
you will need an extra cloth
swatch.

Once made this glorious armor
will treat you well, but if
you want something even more
protective there is a
deceptively simple step that
will increase conflagrant
armor's effectiveness. Find a
Flawless Conflagrant Diamond.
Combine this diamond with a
set of Enamel Paint Samples
for metal armor, and Cloth Dye
Samples for cloth and leather.

While that statement is simple
it is deceptive. You must
coat the diamond in a precise
pattern that takes extreme
skill to even attempt. You can
tell that you failed before
the final step, and except in
very rare cases, recover the
diamond, but you will need a
new set of paint or dye for
each failure.

You can give the Combine
Enamel Kit or Combine Cloth
Dye Kit to anyone to use as
the magic within these kits
make the application simple.
The recipient must use a forge
or loom as appropriate, ad add
their own Flawless Conflagrant
Diamond but there is no chance
of failure.
