If only one could put this in the Range slot when not in Vex Thal.. still a great weapon if your guild is still raiding in VT zone (plus it's not lore and is useable in secondary.. having two of these on a rogue would be a deathwish)
is it just me or is this potentially an 18 dmg backstab weapon for rogues?!? what happened to never having higher than 16 dmg on a dagger? i thought that was what they announced a while ago... I could see a rogue getting himself destroyed with this, even using evade and his disciplines. 18 damage potential (assuming the magic dmg isn't resisted) is pretty crazy stuff, I would love to have one for my rogue when he gets to a higher level... wow.
Baakon, 22nd lvl rogue, knights of round Torvonnilous
I wondered the same thing... 1 base damage + 16 bane damage + 1 magic damage = 18 total?
And actually, Verant once said they wouldn't allow anything higher than 15 damage on a rogue piercer... long before Luclin came out. Oh well, they have to evolve rogues along with everyone else, right?
Can anyone has fought here comment on how effective regular weapons are in here? Are they just as effective as they are in other places, or do you really need some bane weapons to get down to the nitty grits in vex thal? I hear the bane weapons were really important for taking down the emperor, are they just as neccessary here?
Recommended Level 60 to use. I don't know of any 60 character who doesn't have at least one all purpose weapon appropriate to their level. The other people who said this is for Vex Thal fighting are absolutely correct. Use this in Vex Thal and keep your regular weapons in a bag for use elsewhere.
i must hand it verant on this they came up with a great use of the bane damage weapons with a lot of this VT stuff, they made the weapons horrible stats(some of em) with great added bonuses, then added bane greater akheva damage to them that make the little 1h weps like 17/18(damage/delay) which is exactly what VT loot should be dropping, but if you start adding that stuff in the game you get the same problem that has always been there with expansions, you get the uber loot and the previously uber mobs are a joke, with this added benifit, these weapons are AWESOME!! but ONLY in VT, which imo is genious, it lets the uber guilds who go here get their kick *** loot while still keeping some of the difficulty for other mobs in lesser zones(mind you this doesn't affect the KICK @SS armor in VT, just the weps, hehe)
I concur - most people (by this I mean melee) carry multiple weapons, for different purposes, with them...this is more of a MUST use for specific purpose, and that's awesome.
For example - I have a Centi Spear, an SoG, and my Ghoulbane. Some undead come at me. Which am I going to pull out? My GB. Sure, it's not the greatest weapon, but with some decent DEX, that GB can proc multiple times making it better than my other two.
Very nice.
And to answer the questoin of why have other than rogue listed to use this if it has a +% to Backstab? Why not? There are plenty of +% items out there that are used by people who have no use or can't use the bonus. One that comes to mind, though I can't think of the name of it, has a +% to Hide. I know a few paladins that use it, but they aren't Halflings...and only halfling paladins have hide (AFAIK). It's just another bonus that IF you can use it...excellent. If not, it really doesn't take that much away from the weapon.
Ok,so it has awsome resists and some really good stats. But apparently it can only be used against akheva, which, judging from how other folks figure it, it would be roughly 17 dmg against those mobs. If it has +5% to backstab skill, why is it useable by any other class besides a rogue. So on the occasion when you are fighting akheva mobs, a rogue can have a weapon waaaaay better than the epic, if those people are correct in assuming that is how it is this weapon would be 17/19 against particular mobs and also adding 10.5 skill points to backstab or more, my skill is 210 so thats what I'm going by. So ummm can someone please clarify the usefulness of this thing? Aside from awsome str and hp addage, plus truely phenomenal resists, all I can really say is, too bad it isn't a range slot item :(
Unless VI changed the way backstab is calculated, this is a very sucky weapon to backstab with, even against greater akavah. Bonus damage isn't used to figure the multiple, just the base damage. So...guess this would be a secondary slot weapon for rogues. Of course they would get the modifier for whatever they have in their primary slot, and a 17/19 is just awsome.
Though anyone that can wield this weapon should consider it, lots of extra HP's, fantastic saves, great ratio. If it had any AC I'd rather it go to the MT.
Thank you. Was about to lose it until someone said that... I've got the Fungusbeast Spine (13 +2 DIS) and I KNOW that the extra 2 is calculated into backstab. High backstab at 51 went from 360ish to 428. (from a 13 dmg weapon to the fb spine)
