Screwed again

Ok SoE screwed me again, 300 pottery skill with 5% geerlock and pottery Mastery 2 AA, and failed 3 straight times on this darn thing back to back. I swear they just try to make us pull out our hair
Bad luck or broken?

Okay, my luck has been so horrible with this item. I had 3 artisan seals and went for 3 attempts when i was at 232 skill + Geerlok. 3 Fails! Ouchie. But that's not the end of it. After skilling up to 240+geerlok, I try again... this time with FIVE artisan seals... 5 Fails!!!!!!!!

Either I am quite possibly the unluckiest person in EQ history, or this is broken. Any ideas?

Put Some AA into that ability that reduces failures.

My heart bleeds for ya bud but at 240+gerlock you are at the maximum possible skill level.

Its like roulette - you can get the number 9 six times in a row or not get it for three months - its all down to chance.

Yes, it seems you are the unluckiest person in EQ - unless someone knows better of course.

A few pointers:

The trophy has a 5% skill mod, the same as a geerlock and they do NOT stack. When you get your trophy sell your geerlock.

The trophy is triv >250, probably 260 or so which means, what ever your skill, you will have at least a 1/3 chance of failing. You can try to make it with any skill level but the closer to 250 you are the better your chance. Note it is ONLY your current skill that matters when you try for your trophy and Int/Wis/Buffs make no difference whatsoever.

The maximum any unmodified basic tradeskill can reach is 250. If you are a GM with geerlock or trophy - it should make you 262 - but it doesn't, for some reason, the maximum modified skill is fixed at 252.

So, with a skill of 240 and a +5% mod, technically you have 252, the maximum possible skill. This means there is absolutely no benefit, apart from pride, in getting your skill over 240.

The title Grandmaster is reserved by most people for those who have an unmodified skill of 250. However, at 240+, it is common to refer to onself as a "Technical" GM.

I decided to try this with a skill of 139 in JC and 223 in pottery. No fails on mounting the gems, no fails on the seal and a success on the final combine even though I forgot to equip my gearlock.
I feel I was lucky at succeeding first time with a 223 skill but as a chanter I really wanted the plus 50 charisma and was too jaded with pouring cash into building my skill to wait.

Just curious what the lowest skill level people have had when they successfully created this. Basically when should I start trying?

The lowest skill level that people succedded at huh? We'll at a skill level of 0 you have a 1 in 20 chance. The guy above who succedded with a 139 skill had maybe a 1 in 19 chance- he was REALLY lucky. I wouldn't start trying till you were at least 220+ gearlok, otherwise your odds aren't that great.

1. The effect summons up no rent bags 10 slot 100% reduct for help in trade skills when you have to carry crap all over the place.

2. Has a 5% mod to pottery

3. Now how it is made.

There is a few steps to making trade skill trophies the first 2 are shared by all type.

First you will need to have a jewel crafter make you mounted stones which are made with 2 bars of veluim and a gem. you need to have on made up with a diamond, blue diamond, jacinth, and black sapphire. The trival on those is about 175

Next is the Pottery skill portion to make your artisan seal take all thosestones and add a vail of purrified mana small block of clay and some water, throw it on the pottery wheel then bake in kiln on hq sheet. hopefully you dont fail you lose all the gems if you do and start over. Trival 136 this peice is still tradable

Final Step which varies for the trade skill your doing combine the big chunk of money with aka artisan seal combine with some basic store bought scupting tools bake in kiln at trival skill 250 and if all goes well you have the item above if not rinse, repeat

goodluck, inda

There is a gnome upstairs in the Bazaar that explains how to change an old tradeskills trophy for the new one. I beleive that all the newly made trophies are the new type that summon the bags. The old style have no effect, but this allows you to have two of the same skill trophies if you made the old type. To change an old style trophy into a new style one, do the same step you did before to make an Artisan's Seal into a trophy. I BELEIVE that making an old trophy into a new one is a no-fail combine. Making an Artisan't Seal is about a 1 in 5 chance at 250 skill from what I have heard from others (depending on stats).

As always for all trade skills, go to EQ Traders for more details about trade skill items. I have found they are THE place for the Vah Shir quests.

You can have 3 already
# Jun 27 2002 at 1:22 PM Rating: Decent
You can already have 3 of your chosen skill's trophy, they are not lore, and inventory slots are primary, secondary, range, so you can equip 3 of them for 30 int, 30 wis, 150 cha, and 30 str.

I do believe these are now lore. But the old ones (pre-no rent bag version) are not lore.

You can have two different trophies in two different tradeskills though. I have both JC and pottery... and working towards a third in tailoring. And no I'm not working on my BS'ing here Smiley: smile Thanks to PoP aa's this is made much more possible.
When these first came out they were not lore, however, since then have been patched.
