We'll need someone to run this through our item collector to update the spell attached to the item.

Corrupted Hammer of Consternation

Head over to Grieg's End and you will need to kill Praetorian Myral (as indicated by 1 on the map), you will need the Scythe of Sundering (Optional- you only need it if you know no one with it that can proc it and turn in the Flesh to spawn the shade for you) and Divine Hammer of Consternation from him. You can tell what he will drop as he will equip and display both of these weapons.

http://eqresource.com/misc/necskhshammer1.jpg

With the Scythe of Sundering you will need to melee proc it on mobs until you have up to 4x Chunk of Flesh, gotten from procing the scythe. (Optional- you only need it if you know no one with it that can proc it and turn in the Flesh to spawn the shade for you)

After this head to the fleshless bones in Mons Letalis (as indicated by square on the map). This is inside the underground cave part.

http://eqresource.com/misc/necskhshammer.jpg

Turn in the 4x Chunk of Flesh to the fleshless bones. This will spawn a shade npc, turn in the Divine Hammer of Consternation to it and you will be given the Corrupted Hammer of Consternation.

I realise this is a limited use weapon. It would still be nice to have an augment slot on it.
Kite him?

Soloed him with my 76 BL (Jan 18, 2008) when he had the hammer. Just worked thru his DA, hit him with everthing I could when he wasnt DA and heal used heal pots when I couldnt damage him. Pet was still scoring some crits while he was DA

68 bard n 68 necro duo. bard cleared all the mobs in the praetorian's room, then we buffed up and pulled him. when he's got the hammer, don't let him fight melee or he'll proc his DA and then you'll have to wait 15 seconds before your spells will land. its a nuisance, to be sure, so the bard ended up kiting him around, while holding aggro. he kept selos up and twisted chants with mana song. the necro sicced his pet and dotted. he went out of mana when praetorian was at 70% and we had repops around 40%, but the necro took care of that. it took us 15-20 minutes all told. he dropped the hammer, which was definitely a consternation until the bard managed to keep the aggro on himself, and the necro could have his pet whacking from behind.

good luck! i imagine a bard could pull off this kill solo if he was patient enough, and maybe i'll try it someday.

oh and the weapon does NOT have an augmentation slot.

Just killed this guy, Full group, 3 necros, warrior, druid and ranger. Hammer didn't show in his hand, until we engaged him. Cleared the room of adds, full mana'ed up, and just started wailing on him. When anyone got low on HP, just backed up a bit, re-healed, then re-entered the fight. Still, this guy has massive HP, took awhile to go down. Was an awesome fight, hammer dropped.

You need to kite this guy if he has the hammer, or else he will proc DA all day long.

Even so, he does have either a bunch of hp, massive regen, or both.

As a pally, I chain stunned it like mad to hold aggro and then kited it around while a rogue did his work from the backside.

cleric use revisited
# May 30 2007 at 5:37 PM Rating: Decent
i was wondering how this would work with high level clerics now. with the new spells vow of valor, ward of reprisal, yalp 8, and promised renewal, clerics can now tank or even solo lb mobs. my 75 tss t1 geared cleric, with only about 100 aas can solo wos mobs. douing with the chanter he could easily handle them with only about 2 heals. my cleric until just recently was just a buff bot really and prior to these spells and some guild rot tss armor could not take more than a few hits from a db mob.

im going to go grab this for the cleric, il let you know how well it works.

Just read a big write up on this on another board. Don't use your DA spell and this will proc like normal. If you do use your DA spell, you have to wait 15 minutes.

Have someone cast a target DA on you if your pulling and ramp.

There has been no changes to it on lucy.

There is a current bug with it though , which is most likely what happened to you.

The hammer proc somehow got linked to the spell DA refresh rate somehow.
Check your DA spell gem. It won't proc while the gem is greyed out.

65 pally (me) mounted horse, invised, rode in and pulled him with Divine Stun, and rode back out and zoned to lose adds. Zoned back in and he was standing in the middle of the hallway from the zone at Scarlet Desert to the first room in Grieg's. My guild (Destiny) showed up and a ranger snared and kited him in the first room while I tanked the couple spawns we had. Used only DoTs and nukes and a few pets; after a couple of procs of his hammer, he died pretty easily. The DoTs seriously slowed down his regen while invlunerable.

It helps to shrink the kiter to help them avoid being hit. If he hits you the hammer procs pretty much every time so you must stay away from him no matter what. 65 Shammy slow stuck first time as 65 Ranger snare and 65 Chanty Tash.

His proc lasts about two minutes and he CAN attack while DA'd.

With practice it should be doable with a single group as long as you have lots of DoTs and nukes. You definitely want the kiter to have total aggro before sending in any pets. If the hammer never procs it would be a pretty short fight.

Rampage Tanking
# Apr 14 2004 at 9:48 AM Rating: Decent
At first we were farming this fellow for hammers for clerics (defensive purposes) and all the paladins passed because of the instant aggro loss that the DA proc gives.

Then some bright spark thought up RAMPAGE TANKING PALADINS :o) OK, its not going to work on Quarm, but for lesser rampage mobs where you really want your MT to maintain tight aggro, the rampage pally tanks can actually use this hammer and drop to the bottom of the hate list again, leaving your warrior back on top of the hate list where you want him or her. It is an interesting idea and one that is still in refinement, but seems to work so far.

i dont know how that would work...if you go invuln, the mobs may forget you completely if your invuln to long. for a cleric i can see them using it on a AE rampage mob.... but other then that (unless you want to click it off every time it procs) its useless. though i do have to admit, it is a nice twink item lol.

Trying to work around the proc effect on this is much too much trouble...

The only time this weapon becomes worthwhile is when you embrace it's proc for whatever reason you may have.

I am not entirely sure how invul drops your agro, but if you ever try getting agro on you and only you and going invul the mob still has agro on you, meaning you dont loose agro completely. From what I can tell it seems that it temporarily drops you to 1 agro point but does not affect your actual agro. Put that with the fact that no matter what your agro does, the Rampage list is permanent until someone on that list dies and you have a plan that seemingly will work.

From what I can see... this is an amazingly good use for the weapon's effect... Hats off to whoever put two and two together and thought of it... Just remember that while Invul you cannot receive healing, so in some volatile cases this could end up being more risky than helpful.

Once established you stay on rampage untill you die or mob dies, with self da on pulls and DA hammer (WA5) a pally can RT and not need healing for half of the time. Have employed this method on Sol Ro and mini's in fire.

This item is particularly useful for rampage tanks. When the hammer procs for the rampage tank, the rampage tank drops to the bottom of the aggro list while remaining on top of the rampage list, and invulnerable to the rampage hits. Yes, with weapon affinity 5, the hammer procs alot. Also good to have Spell Casting Reinforcement 3 to extend the duration of divine aura from 18 seconds to almost 24 seconds. Good wep to have for every raiding pally.

Commonest drop
# Feb 14 2004 at 5:18 AM Rating: Decent
Farm this lad all the time. The DA hammer fight is the most fun, easy enough if he is kited and you dot him after clearing adds. Doable with single grp or less This seems to be his commonest drop, but for clerics who were wielding the Sprinkler in main hand, is is a very nice extra 100HP to carry until something better comes along. Out of the last 10 kills he has had this drop 6 times, Scythe of Sundering 3 and the much sought after RGC Wand once.

Spells that landed from necro:

Not resisted - Funeral Pyre, Touch of Mujaki, Splurt, Cessation of Cor, Pyrocuror, Saryrns Kiss

Resisted at times - Horror, Blood of Thule, Embracing Darkness, Neurotoxin, Gangrenous Touch of Zumu'ul

Suggest Fire and Magic, and shaman reported cold landed well. Like me he had to wait a little later in the fight to land curse/disease/poison. All of these landed more easily the lower Myral's health became. In addition the chanter debuffs had probably kicked in by then too.

Worth killing just for the fact that the hammer drop MAY save your cleric's butt and restore the tank to the top of the hate list.

# Jan 07 2004 at 1:17 PM Rating: Decent
You want to kill him? I don't care what item he has, it's cake. Pull the room he's in. He won't agro when you tag the two mobs on either side. Once cleared, get FM and everyone ready.

If you have a bard, mez him and everyone debuff, snare and slow him. Have slower in one corner, chain-snarer in the other. Let mez fall... whichever has agro is the kiter. ;) grats... run him around the exterior of the room for two laps, casting dot or snare to keep agro. Once agro is established... dot, nuke, and send in pets. In a few minutes, he will be dead.

Requires 3-6 people depending on class and level.

Not great for a MT Pally
# Dec 20 2003 at 2:50 AM Rating: Decent
If youre a Pally and ever plan to MT dont bother with this hammer. It was fun to get, and fun to try out. I mainly use it for the +15 WIS when fletching now. The DA proc causes an instant loss of aggro, and your slower or healer gets turned into paste that used to resemble a caster.

Save your pp (if youre a Pally) and get a Windblade. Do some adventures and buy one of the dd proc augments like Silver Flecked Crystal of Agony (ECommons 510 pts)or whatever its called. This proc stacks with your own procs like Ward of Nife or Pious Might. Use your own Valor of Marr, worn haste item, and have ENC cast Speed of Vallon on you. This will give you a 50dam, 44del, and all the stats weapon with a 125dd proc, a 150(living)/270(undead) proc and maxed haste. Fight undead and throw in your undead nukes and youre slingin some respectable damage out there. I know it seems like EVERYBODY has a WB these days but there are reasons for that. It works. Its dropable. Its not so expensive that you cant buy one. If you dont want a WB, look into getting a Shadowflame. Its a little less dam, same del, and much better stats. You will have to loot that one though ;)

If youre a CLR, by all means make the effort to get this Hammer. +15 and higher WIS items are not easy to come by. If you do have to fight, and proc...you lose aggro and the MT's place on the hatelist is maintained. This hammer procs A LOT. The 100 hps and mana will be a nice addition also. Pairing this with a Shield of Bane Warding will give your CLR a +35 WIS right off the bat. I cant say how this will compare against CLR's Hammer of Damnation. I cant imagine it would be all that bad though.

Actually just get a war marshalls bladed staff, it parses a few dps higher and costs about 1/4th - 1/5th what the windblade does (at least on druzzil)

The guy is a gimp with or without the hammer. We took 7 people in there. Bard kiting, rogue, pally, wizzy, cleric, ranger and a chanter. We cleared the room and had him dead before the room popped 1 mob. Very simple.
Something is smells
# Nov 28 2003 at 8:58 AM Rating: Decent
First attempt: attempted to tank him with a 12 member raid party, of course DA proc'd so he stayed invulnerable. Cleric camped and came back in to rez a few minutes later.

Second attempt: Druid snared and kited him. Casters did spell dmg but he regenerated it back up within seconds.. we never got him below 97%. I know DA was not up because I walked up and hit him with my weapon no problem. My hammer proc'd 150dmg to him and within .5 seconds he was 100% again.

So what's going on with this guy? bug maybe?
He is a punk!
# Oct 19 2003 at 11:51 AM Rating: Decent
We took this guy out after about 15 minutes. We did not run him to the zl like all the other posts here indicate. Instead we kited him in the room where he spawns. Our Enchanter mezzed and slowed him, our druid snared him repeatedly until mez broke to gain maximum agro. During the kite he repeatedly snared him to keep agro as all of us slowly dotted/nuked to keep from pulling agro to quickly. The druid made a large circle around the room to keep a good distance away from him. We did not have the problem of him "poofing" when he walked over something. Only once did he get close enough to our druid to actually proc the hammer. One time was all it took; however, as he regened back 20% of his life during that time, and the DA lasted for about 5 minutes. Since our druid was chain snaring him the snare never wore off. Easiest way to find out is have your necro use the smallest life tap they have. Little to no mana requirements for this spell. Once his LT lands have her call out to start attacking. This way your not wasting the casters mana to try and find out if he is no longer covered by DA.

Why would a druid need to chain snare? It lasts well over 7min. I would think chain nuking would be better.

Chain snaring is a great way to maintain aggro while kiting and the only way maintain aggro when big nukes start firing. This is how kite groups at the PoV OC camp and HoH graveyard work. You have pet groups and casters in the middle with a kiter maintaining aggro through snares (and if they don't summon, DOTs and nukes). Using this technique you can build an incredible DPS group without the need of a real healer.

RE: He is a punk!

I belive the reason could be casting time. Snare has a very short cast time compared to most nukes. And the object is to keep lots of agro and not get hit by him to proc his hammer. (from the way I read it)
RE: He is a punk!
# Nov 16 2003 at 7:53 PM Rating: Default
flamelick is a 1.5s casting time, thats what i use when i agro kite, it works well
RE: He is a punk!

I'm assuming that snare was used to avoid the kiter being summoned. If you don't do damage to the mob or heal, you can't be summoned.
RE: He is a punk!
# Dec 28 2003 at 11:37 PM Rating: Decent
He doesn't summon. Despite that, the second ANYONE does more than 10hps worth of damage to the mob, you WILL get summoned if you're at the top of his hatelist.
RE: He is a punk!
# Feb 14 2004 at 11:47 PM Rating: Decent
Not True, when a mob gets to 96 percent it starts summoning, if in fact it is a summoning mob

The proc does not last longer and longer, whats happening is he is constantly procing DA so its refreshing over and over giving he impression its longer lasting.

We took on this guy and he had the hammer. He was invincible to all attacks -- melee or magic.

The Proc is Divine Aura. For players this lasts about 30-seconds. For this guy it clearly lasts much longer.

For players -- you can't attack when you use Divine Aura. This guy can and did.

couple things: I have this hammer, and I love it. it has great stats. And no, it's not useless. Clerics are not melee, therefore they aren't using the hammer for melee, they are using it for it's stats. I use mine while in a raid, and once in a while in PvP when I know I can't win, but need the free DA to get to a zone line or something. If I'm meleeing for whatever reason (which I've been known to do in a boring group that takes no dmg, ever)I usually use my summoned hammer. Max out my dex and I'm a proc God. =) And, even if you did want to use this one as a melee hammer, it's not that difficult to click off the DA! =p One simple click and you can melee again. And the DA that procs is just like normal Cleric DA, no, you can't attack or cast while the DA is up. But, if you don't have this hammer, no point in discussing it much anyway, I don't believe it drops anymore since GE was revamped. . .at least, we havn't seen P. Myral anywhere since.
