Understanding Divine Aura
# Jun 21 2002 at 6:19 PM Rating: Excellent
You need to understand a few things about Divine Aura to figure out what use this weapon has. First when Divine Aura goes off you are moved to the bottom of the hate list removing you from being a good MT. Second you can just click the icon off. Since this is roughly a slow weapon if it procs you have around 3.5 seconds (+/- haste/slow effects). This would be great for a paladin. The damage/delay can be enough to put you on top of hate list and if you cast a lot of stuns in an attempt to interrupt that puts you farter up the hate list. A proc of this would remove you as a challenger for the top spot on hate list. With Divine Aura you should leave it on for a second or two just to ensure you are not going to be on top of hate list when you remove it. A paladin in high end encounters is probably not going to make it to top of hate list since the warriors should be equipped with better hate gathering weapons and in those fights stuns are not highly useful. If I had this weapon I would tend to use it during large fights especially against large AE mobs that you can rougly gage when the AE goes off. If you are lucky the DA will be on shortly before and you can leave it on till the AE goes off then resume fighting by removing the effect. In single group situations in which I was the MT I would not use this. Every time it proc'd the creature would be pealed off you and jump the next person on list which could be the slower or healer.

this weapon is nice if you are just additional tank in a group or on raids where you don't want aggro as a paladin anyway and if you are out of healing business. But once the Weapon Procs its more or less a danger for your cleric chanter/slower in your group as the mob you are tanking instantly goes on the next person on aggro list because you are not on the aggro list anymore. Even when you click it off you have to target mbob again and Stun/Taunt to get aggro back which takes too long imho to ever use it as MT in a group.
Its nice for soloing as a paladin though.
I like it and use it every now and then but its more a nice toy than really my main weapon to use.

Just to clarify, Divine Aura will not clear the hate list. You won't be attacked if the mob can attack someone else. If the mob hates you more than anyone else and you are close, you will be attacked again after you remove the DA buff. It used to be that you could keep agro by sitting underneath the mob due to sitting agro. It still works despite agro changes, but you need to be very low health and sitting to keep agro even while DAed (or the last one left alive). I have some nice logs showing me (cleric) tanking Ixiblat Fer and Lady Vox for over 15 seconds before I chickened out and stood up and ran out of range (it didn't help enough with Vox though :/ ).

You can't cast spells, use items or attack while you are Invulnerable. You can be Death-Touched while "Invulnerable".
recomended level?

10? Why even bother putting a recomended level of 10 on a no drop item such as this? To prevent someone from sneaking their level 5 paladin in here and power looting this bad boy? I think not! Just the idea of using this as a TWINK weapon is insain. Sure it would be sweet, but it would also be nuts! I realisticaly can't see anyone below level 51 getting this, I have a realy hard time imagining someone under level 55 getting this. And I have a GREAT imagination!

Cause they don't want people sneaking in their level 1 chars, looting, then suiciding the char so it goes back to its bind point. That's why.

It's not like you can't still do that anyway, & just wait a few levels to use it. Hell, it probably still has really nice stats @ level 1.
#REDACTED, Posted: Jun 21 2002 at 4:40 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) This would be godly as a Paladin weapon but..Divine Aura is 18 second invuln that also prevents you from attacking I believe...so no Paladin in his right mind would USE it unfortunately. Besides, anyone that can GET it, probably has equivlent. Grats to Clerics!
#REDACTED, Posted: Jun 21 2002 at 11:04 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) no Divine Barrier is 18 seconds...Divine Aura is 6 seconds....

Classes: Clr (L1), Pal (L55)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Skill: Abjuration
Allowable Targets: Self

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Resistance Check: None

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mana Required: 10
Spell Duration: 3 ticks (18 seconds)
Duration Formula: 3
Casting Time: 1.0 seconds
Spell Recovery: 2.25 seconds
Recast Delay: 900.0 seconds

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Spell cast on you: The gods have rendered you invulnerable.
Spell fades: Your invulnerability fades.

Check the duration... really, its 6 seconds... I didn't know 18 seconds actually meant 6 seconds. Divine Barrier is the same thing with a damage shield and a regen, not an 18 second version (seeing that that would be the same thing then).
#REDACTED, Posted: Jun 23 2002 at 7:40 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Hehe divine aura is worthless as a cleric/Paladin casting it, it doesn't last very long and has a horrible wait timer on it.

No more crack for you. :) They are both 18 seconds. Gurentee it. Make a level 1 cleric and try it out.
DA procs for Pallies
# Jun 21 2002 at 4:39 PM Rating: Decent
Lol, that is just what a MT Paladin wants. although I don't think you'd want it to be proc'ing in a secondary tanking situation.

Pally could root, and get right up on Mob. It will likely stay on the Pally, assuming no one else stands closer to him.
RE: DA procs for Pallies
# Jun 23 2002 at 2:36 PM Rating: Decent
Sorry but you're wrong. :) A while ago they changed all forms of invulnerability and how they work with aggro. The only way that pally is going to keep aggro when this thing procs is if he's soloing. Then it wouldn't even do a lot of good (the proc, that is). This is a main tanking pally's worst nightmare. It would be impossible to hold aggro.

aye its hard to regain aggro after proc making this weapon only a nice solo weapon (it works -tried it in KC basement hehe) but for keeping aggro i still use my epic (love that stun proc aggro) ...
