Hate to argue with Allahs, but this is not a raid event. Even with the hammer he is single groupable. Without the hammer 2 people could kill him. He's not hard at all. He does have a boatload of HPs and if he has the hammer, you will have to kite him, but he certainly doens't qualify to be called a raid event.
I am a lvl 38 pally I have this hammer in my possostion(or how ever u spell it). I have had this hammer since lvl 35 I do dmg from 20-130 so far I am wondering about the proc I hear it starts at 45 or so an hear a lot about how this ruins the whole deal I disagree. I havent had it proc yet but since it is a click off effect then it shouldn be that hard to regain Aggro esp. with the stuns an taunts not to mention the hits that u will be dealing at higher lvl. that alone should make it relatively to regain aggro so for those of u that doen the weapon u are NUTS!!!! this is the best damn one handed weapon in this game. the dmg ratio along makes it one of the best oif not THE best those stats make it THE best. so for all of u who bash this weapon well.... /em gets ready to bash your head in with his awesome hammer!!!!!!
Hehe talk about twink. I'm guessing the Hammer will proc when you are able to use your spell DA, being lv 51. So probably be a while till you see a proc.
What younger Palys don't get is how incredibly huge the hate requirement they need to stay on top of the agro later in life. I'm not saying it is hard to do our job... but you do need to stay active and most importantly get good agro early (before the over zealost slower or nuker jumps all over the mob). This thing is in fact cool, but no you won't be able to unclick this effect and "get agro back easy enough" after dropping all the hate you had before the proc.
Paladins have no problem getting and holding aggro, no idea what you are talking about. Pull with Cease, or a short duration stun and the mob can be slowed on inc even before you start melee and taunt.
From using DA it seems that sure you drop to the bottom of the list while the effect is on..but soon as i click it off, im back up there, so it only temporarily drops you down the list.
Based on the information in this thread that mentioned him poofing, we opted to snare pull him to a large room where we all waited just a small distance from where we found him spawned. There are several large areas within which he can be kited. Our main enchanter, level 61, kited him in a large circle around the room with repeated casts of Tash. Good spell to keep aggro with, even if it doesn't land. The rest of us hit him with dot spells, small nukes and ranged weapons from the center of the room while our 2 tanks dealt with adds that popped. Took us a couple tries before our bard presented this idea, but this will work every time he has the DA proc hammer.
Here is some good info I've gleaned from doing this mob 3 days in a row:
WHERE: Take all rights when you zone in from the Scarlet Desert, that should be 6 doors (one of which is broken and laying on it's side). You will pass exactly 11 mobs, 2 are roamers, 3 are statics and 6 are little 'traps' that have mobs springing out of them. Any of these have a chance to see invis, but it is entirely likely that none of them will see from time to time.
PULL: If you elevate Praetorian Myral in ANY way, i.e. pulling him over a crate, or kiting him over the awnings in the large kite area (past the 3rd door, can't miss it), he will poof. So make sure you give the 3 or 4 awnings in the kite area a wide berth.
KILL: There are alot of ways to kill him, but there are some things for certain. You have to stop his regen, and you have to keep him from proc'ing his hammer. That means don't let your melee get in front, because he can proc on a riposte. Don't send pets in while he is facing you, again... he might riposte. Make sure you keep your puller sowed, or if he catches up.. yup! he might proc the hammer. The DA lasts about 3 minutes with this guy, more than enough time for your regen-inhibiter-of-choice to wear off and for him to regen 25% of his hp.
**NOTE** if he does not have the DA hammer (it looks like a normal velilum battle hammer in his hand, wood and velium), then the DA problem is moot.
He is alot easier to kite around than to fight straight up, he flurries, has a good amount of hp and the aforementioned regen.
RAID SIZE: I've heard of this being done with 1 65 bard and 1 65 cleric. But that is an all-in-one package there. Bring someone who can snare it, someone to stop his regen, and my favorite: some pet classes. Pets never get in front, and are low aggro. The only problem with this is that there *will* be adds, and you will need someone to tank them. My suggestion for a 1 group kill would be: Bard (kiter), shaman, cleric, necro (snarer/pet), ranger (backup snare/ranged dmg), and some tank.
Took him down today with 5 ppl, 2 wiz, 1 mag, 1 druid and me bst. Single pulled him to room by zoneentrance to SD, wizzie started kiting him around while all the while using his staff of temperal flux on him, adding up to lots of aggro, druid snared and pets were sent out after wizzie had sufficient aggro from staff and nuking and rest started in dot'ing nuking. fight lasted a while but not particulary difficult, insane regen on this guy. wizzie didnt lose aggro once and all in all a fun and easy but long fight, dropped hammer
I don't know how Disease effects works on mobs. I know that if a player is diseased, they can't regen HPs till the disease counters are removed. So, would it make sense to find some disease spells to put on this guy to ****** his regen while he is invunerable?
Sorry Malchore/Kakryn...that's a myth. Been a myth since soon after the first person contracted Rabies from a mummy. Disease dots work like any other dot...they just remove hp each tick. If you have higher regen than the dot, you will regen hp...regardless of disease/magic/poison/fire/cold style dot.
It's easy to test. Duel a shaman. Have them debuff you so your disease resist is WAY low. Then have them dot you with a low level disease DoT. Then have them cast their best regen on you. Your HP will go up each tick...just not as fast as if you didn't have that DoT on.
Killed was killing him cause we wanted to get his hammer and we knew it proced da so we had a druid kite him around his own room for awhile and after the druid got him down to around 80 percent he decided he had enough and just poofed so not sure if kitting him around is a good idea
I'd love to have one of these during for those really tough encounters.
If clerics are asked to camp, I could hit Yaulp V, DB, clear target window (if multiple mobs), hit attack then /q.
If the (a) meanie comes for me after DB fades, the hammer might proc, giving me an extra 18 seconds to LD, and and make it possible for me to log back on alive.
Alright, I'm gonna toss out some info on how I pulled him out and killed him. I took him down as a 56 cleric, with a 62 Enchanter, 61 Ranger (with Trueshot), a 58 druid, and a Necro (can't remember what level). He is NOT a static spawn at the SD entrance. The only way he gets there is if someone runs him out. If your any type of self-respecting cleric, you have Divine Aura and Barrier. Mem those two and wait for them to pop. (PS. Make sure you have SOW or Run 3 before attempting the following) Choke down an invis potion, run to where he spawns (you can locate this on any map). You have to hit him once, as he was not KOS to me at the time. Toss up Barrier and run like hell to the zone. Drag the adds with you. Zone into SD... heal yourself, wait awhile... pop back over and Mr. Man is standing at the zone with a blank stare on his face whining about "Why do you do this? Did Luclin send you?". Gather your group/groups around him and start hammering away. Have the melee call when he procs Aura, or your casters will just be wasting mana. I'd suggest a team of necros/druids on hand to keep his regen down. The druid and the enchanter had a hard time keeping it down even with pets on it. It is possible for a twink to possess this weapon. As for the probability of a group of people gathering just for you to twink a PAL.... that's another story.
Aanmery I'm on the Prexus server. I'm open for questions anytime you have them.
PS: Forgot to add that I had a 60 Wizard there too (thanks Jerel)
The what? It's spelled H-A-M-M-E-R, stupid midget. He's a college professor with the spelling skills of an 8 year old, and the mind of a demented and suicidal 6 year old. Aan, the school just called, you are fired. Let this be a lesson to all of you, drugs are ba... what was I saying? Damn another bad batch of crack. Drunken EQ master, deathbringer to anyone stupid enough to group with me or stand near me. Spunkmidg/Supmidg/Weemidg Prexus
For those that needed some tips on how to kill this guy, here goes...
Ok First and most important, if he has the hammer you have to keep it from procing if you want any chance at killing this guy. How do you do that? First have a shaman cast Malo on him and zone, Then have a druid chain snare him for about 5 mins at least, all the while the druid is running in circles outside of Myral's melee range inside the first room. Be aware, there is at least one mob in that room, so have someone rdy to dispose of it, preferably that person would pull the agro towards the zoneline away from the druid that's kiting.
The point of this is to have the druid build up so much agro that melee can follow behind the mob and slash away while the druid keeps his attention.
Bring as many classes that can DoT that you can muster, he has high HP and regen.
Ensure that he get's Maloed the second your casters start getting resists.
If you bring pets ensure that they have Taunt OFF!
This is easily a 45 minute to an hour fight guys ( if he has the hammer ), just make sure NO ONE get's agro besides the druid because that hammer of his procs almost EVERY blow, and the proc for THIS NPC does not last 18secs.....it lasts SEVERAL minutes. So, if it goes off, your gonna be sitting there waiting for it to wear off while you watch him regen his HP to full again.
One other tidbit of info for ya.....he likes to POOF. What I mean is that he will depop if he is not being hit after he gets down to about 70% health. We found this out the HARD way, he tried to do it to us the second time but our MA was wise to his tricks and did not let up. What he did to us was he froze in place ( did not attack or move ) so the MA tried to pull him back away from the wall.....the second he got out of melee range <pOOF>. Sooooo....the second time he froze yet again, this time however we kept hacking away.
He did however wake up just before he was going to die ( at about 10% health ), so we went back to the snare/dot while the tanks hacked away from behind routine. And remember the druid MUST chain snare constantly throughout the ENTIRE fight to ensure that he has agro, hence keeping the mob from procing that nice hammer which I now own thanks to the help of my guildmates.
If you happen to check these boards again would appreciate any extra info you might have on how many people you had hacking away and nuking/doting for the 45 min fight. Thanks for the comprehensive info though. Spunkmidg/Supmidg/Weemidg
Ok *****, here goes. We had one warr (60) one shaman (60) one druid (60) two wizzys (57-58) one paladin (58) one ranger (60) one necro (58) one monk (60) and two clerics (57-60). Hope that helps Spunkmidg.
Thanks a bunch helps a lot, just didn't want to call in my friends and then beat and beat only to not be able to get him deaded. Friends list don't help a ton for making single groups, but for once the 95% of my friends list being 60 druids and wizzies will pay off. :P Thanks again appreciate it. Master of Midgets
How hard mob this is ??? Seemed pretty hard to me, at least when he´s holdin that god damn hammer! Any on you actually ever killed this guy when he´s with that hammer ?? How, oh how did you do it ?? That´s something I really would like to know :)
aiight i very very very rarely post on this site, but i was just checkign to see if the hammer was up on this site, and after readign up on the posts here there seems to be a bit of confusion going on. I myself have this hammer, i am a lvl 53 paladin. i have been using this hammer for bout 3 months now, and i absolutly love it. As for using this hammer, its bout the single handiest wep i have had. But i cannot be a MT using it, esspecially in a riad situation, there are to many other peeps on the aggro list to risk using this. as stated earlier on a post this does not remove you from the aggro list, it merely drops you to the bottom of the list, meaning that if you are solo, it will only save you for 18 secs. i group constantly with high lvl enchanters, the speeds of my hits and the numrous procs i get are great as long as im not the main tank. i hit up to 170 pts dmg with this w/o any str/dex/agi buffs up, tiss sure to be more with my skill above 200. i deal a massive amount of dmg, yet castign DA, and clicking it off lets the main tank maintain agro, but i always have a secondary wep handy to switch too if the MT drops or if i am the MT i will keep another wep such as my edge of honor up to Keel with. its that simple. Also you can do a ghetto crowdcontrol with this if nessacary, if you have two mobs and the MT is on one, you can tank the second mob off to anothere area, rooted it, and beat on it, as long as you dont get healed by another the mob will concentrate its aggro on you. whiel the proc keeps yeeeer life intact, takes some practice to get a hang of tho, speed and high dex is a necesisty. well suppose thats it for now, will check up on this post if anyone has any questions.
Metstix Bladeweilder 53 paladin of Brell saryrn
PS. As for how to kill this guy who drops it, i cannot divuldge that info
PPS. As for the guy who mentioned twinking, i have a friend who has one on his lvl 11 pally.
Ok - you've been using this hammer for 3 months right ? This suggest that if you were levelling (use moderate assumptions at 2 level per week)that means you were approx. level 20 when you 1st got this hammer.
Either 2 things happened here:-
a) A High level group consisting on non Pallys or Clerics was in group that killed him when the hammer dropped. Feeling extremely charitable, they OOC that the hammer dropped and was willing to kindly donate to the 1st Pally that came along. You being the lucky 1 was the chosen
b) You are crapping BS like no tomorrow.
So I would think the latter happening. So nice try ! Your BS doesn't stack up pal.
Later
PS. What's this crap about not divulging info on how to kill him.
My beastlord has an 18 27 weapon that he got in the low thirties from UP, so why wouldn't this be possible? People can single group these types of guys and twink their lower level chars.
Since when does one have to get "all the way through Grieg's End just to loot this thing?" The guy is a fixed spawn at the entrance from Scarlet Desert a few feet from the zone line (you can see if he's up with the hammer just by zoning in, no need to walk around). I suppose if you want to call walking a couple feet from the zone line down a completely safe hallway going "all the way through Grieg's End" then you can. To each their own!
/sigh, he's not a fixed spawn, he mearly stays at the Zone entrance after being trained there. He will basically stay there until someone kills him. But yes, you don't have to get "all the way through Grieg's End just to loot this thing?" mearly get a port to TS, get an invis and run through SD to GE zone. If you've done this before, you'd know that the only way to properly kill him is to get him in the large room at the zone in to SD.
"PS. As for how to kill this guy who drops it, i cannot divuldge that info
PPS. As for the guy who mentioned twinking, i have a friend who has one on his lvl 11 pally. " Heh, thats pretty stupid. Level 11 pally has one? i seriously doubt it, nobody is going to get a group (or 2) together to kill this guy for someone's level 11 pally. and if it was a raid force.. theres bound to be a cleric (or pally) who'd want this thing even just to play with.
Sure they will. I've helped twink a guildies level 30 necro with a scythe of sundering from this guy. I also intend to get my cleric one after I finish creating him. A guild may not come out and kill him just to twink your alt, but friends will.
I'm a 53 Pally and would love to get my hands on this weapon. A one hander that does this kind of damage that enables me to use a shield for stunning. I have to aggree with previous post this is probably the easiest of this kind of weapon to get for most guilds don't need to be in the super elite ones to have this item . Thanks verant .
WTF is wrong with people calling a weapon that does this kinda dmg a bad weapon? lol are you smoking crack? because theres a hand full of weapons in the game that are better..and all but three of them youll probably never have a chance to get and the three others will never drop your gonna use that as an excuse to call this a bad weapon?? lol this guy is probably the best chance in the game for a weapon of this calliber and if your strong enough to obtain it im guessing that you have haste already.. making this a very fast and hard hitting paly weapon.. id own with one of these i dont know about you lol... sry bout the ******** =) have a nice day taygarr
I have to disagre with previous posts saying this is a bad pally weapon. I will agree if a pally is the main tank this weapon is bad. Well if in a grup situation and you are not main tank its a great weopon, no matter how much damage you do, as son as it procs the mob is off you. Click off th proc and back to fighting(this thing procs alot) When acting as a main tank i would recommend something else. As soon as it procs whn you main tank it taks a couple rounds to regain agro. Got my highest hit today, a crit for 462, highest non crit has been 206. Grat on hand weapon.
Kebmo Stormbeard 57th season Knight Xev Server Dominion
unfortunately the effect is not a right click. Otherwise it WOULDNT say combat. In other words, while it has good stats as far as meleeing goes, its proc makes it suck. Reminds me of old Sword of Skyfire... nice stats... proc ruins it.
Everyone one of these that has dropped has gone to a cleric. No paladins would use them, because the proc is combat. You cannot cast spells or melee when the divine aura effect is up.
damage above delay on a one hander? I thought that was against the balancing rules... Or have those changed?
Now that i check, i see quite a few 1 handers with DAM>DLY... but only for classes that can't dual wield. Bah, seems like not dual weilding should be a penalty. Why do Pallys, SKs, ETC get to use a shield while WARs have both hands full with the same ratio?
It still keeps with balancing rules. Imagine how much damage a warrior would do with a pair of weapons like this. Pallys and SKs dont get really good melee skills like warriors, and monks get, so giving them a "godly" weapon doesn't unbalance game play.
Can anyone tell me how I might get to where this guy spawns? Would really like to find him so we can have a go at him, whether it's successful or not. Thanks in advance.
DA does remove you from hate but only till it wears off. IF someone else has gathered enough aggro, it will forget about you. If your under 20% health, most high level mobs will whack you in 1 hit as soon as DA runs it's course or you click it off.
For a cleric, this is the perfect 'oh $#!@' weapon. Great stats, when mob agro's whack it and hope for the proc, then click the invuln off when it is time to cast (or can you click DA off? Never tried.) Beautiful.
Mobutu Virginhunter Dark Cleric of Cazic-Thule Xegony
DA or DB can be clicked off. I have a 54 cleric on Rodcet Nife. When I have to use it, I keep it up long enough to allow the tanks to get aggro back. Then I click it off if I have to heal someone. If not, I let DB run its duration because of its healing element.
If you already have all 15 buff slots full, then when the Divine Aura procs, it won't stick, will it? With all the buffs that paladins get now, it wouldn't take much help to max out your buff slots, to prevent this thing from sticking. If you can keep the proc from sticking, wouldn't that help out main tanks that use this weapon?
If all your buff slots are full then any new buffs that are stackable with everything you allready have on will just erase one of your current buffs and put itself in the old buffs spot.DA stacks so it would wipe one of your current buffs.
No, DA would not work. Many times I have hit DA and had no spots available in a raid situation where I get cleric aggro...and it does not work b/c I have my max amount of buffs on me. It does not erase any buffs when it is cast or proc'd.
A one handed weapon with a ratio of less than one, that is just insane. even if it was two hand it would still be insane. I also have to mention all those delicious stats it has on it!
First off, They both last 18 seconds, the file for Divine Barrier says it has a damage shield, has anyone any actual PROOF of this? i've never seen the damage shield actually hit when i use the spell
