I have two accounts and do trade skill work on both of them.
At some point in baking or fishing you will need one.

These knives stack to 20 and are NOT consumed during a combine.

The trivial level is only 76 and any character of mine that even looks
at a forge will get to a skill of 190 smithing.
So while I was at it I made 2 stacks of these, gave one stack to
a toon on the other account put the rest in the Common Bank.

With "Make All" in the trade skill container UI now
it makes sense to get it over with all at once rather than revisit
making a knife or two on every single character. IMHO.

There seems to be some confusion about where to buy these knives. Filleting Knives, being player crafted, CANNOT be bought from a vendor unless a player sold it to that vendor first. The smithing trivial on this is only 76. If you know anyone who smiths, chances are they can make you one. Or you could raise your smithing enough to make one yourself. If you’re in a hurry your best bet would be to do a search in the bazaar. If you plan to do any baking, this is a handy, dandy little item to have.

Happy baking,

Smiley: bangheadas usual, spent two hours in thurgadin looking for frost giant meat and a filleting knife from vendors that allakhazam said has them. found the vendors , no meat or knifes. I have found the info on things like this to be doubious at best. I have guildies saving meat for me and a smithy made on with my stuff.
That is my coppers worth!

As I just posted above, filleting knives are player crafted, so you’ll need to buy one from another player or make one yourself. Frost giant meat is not a standard stock item on vendors either. You can only get this by looting it from the cold, dead bodies of giants. Sometimes players will sell it to vendors and you can then buy it from that vendor, but that’s more or less a mater of luck. The best way to get giant meat is to kill giants or, as you’ve already done, ask friends who are hunting giants to save the meat for you. If you have a large bank account you can also shout out in GD and Thurgadin with an offer to buy the meat from other players.

Best of luck with your giant steaks.

it has a recommended level of 1... umm can you go below the first level... imagine the type of hell that person would be through...

<scene fades into Greater Faydark, where we see a young highelf cleric seking a group>

Cleric <shouts> "Level 0 cleric seeks group... I must make it to level 1 before I can use the filleting knife so I can increase my baking skills!"

Warrior <shouts> "Ummm... what good is a level 0 cleric? You have NO spells!"

Cleric <shouts> "True, but..."

Warrior <shouts> "Off you go!"

Your attempt at making a joke failed!
Your skill in joke-making has increased! <24>

I just wanted to note that you also get your filleting knife back on a failure when you combine with bear/lion meat.

For the patty melts you need cheese. The only place I know of to get cheese is in the Jagged Pines area.

This item is a perfect way to get to Level 143 in Baking. Put 1 skill point in Baking, grab a Filleting Knife, and some Bear or Lion meat. Then combine those two items in a Oven or Spit starting at level 1, and within a few hours you will be at Level 143 (each success you get the knife back). Then after that, make some Patty Melts to level 191, yummy!

Just go to the guy in thurgadin who seels the meat and stands right next to the oven, buy stacks of meet and combine with filliting knife, on success you get 4 fillits. 1 to 143 in 30mins and you make a profit.

I forged mine. I have yet to see any at sale from any vendors. I think the only way you will find thoes will be if someone makes one then sells it to the vendor.

Very easy recipe.
3 Metal bits, Scaling mold, water combine in forge Trivial at 87. I made one with a skill of 20 and stopped You can also make the dairy spoon the same way just that requires 2 Metal bits not 3.

I hope it helps. Good luck
