I do not know when they changed it, but this item can now be cast from inventory. So I do not know if other classes can now use it if they have the faction to do the quest.
This item rocks. Now lets see Sony update all these quests, I woudl like to see this go to a snare a step or two higher, I think Engulfing Darkness would not be too much to ask, with a casting time of about 4 or 5 sec, a bit better, but not overpowered for casting time.
As for teh beer summoning one, it shoudl summon an acohol so powerful it instantly kills you when you drink it. :)
I did this quest recently and I really enjoyed it. I already had a young Vah Shir shammy but I was increasing frustrated by his inability to snare as the seasons (levels) passed and the unreliability of rooting. (Also a warrior once told me years ago that rooting causes mobs to hit harder but I cannot confirm) I saw some folks debating about the best shammy races in General Chat one day and they mentioned that Trolls had the ability to snare and I started asking questions. Well my shammy was still young enough to re-roll so I did. I also wanted the Workers Sledgemallet from OT or maybe I'm just evil? (muhahaha)
Anyways, I completed the quest at around 18 with the help of my 55 tank on the same account. (log & loot) I played EQ years ago and have just returned so I'm generally well versed about the game; I just don't have a high level t00n yet.
The required faction to start this quest can easily be acquired by one of the two ways mentioned below. Either turn in the letter in Grobb (I bound myself by High Priest Perrir Zexus in the 3rd Gate and used "Go to Home City" the next day) or grab a DE illusion in the Bazaar and do the wine turn in. (The wine can easily be purchased in the same zone)
There really isn't a bottleneck to the quest but I did wanna add some side notes. There is no trick to Woopal just a matter of clearing and waiting =p. Wallin Slyfoot was actually difficult for me to find even with a tracker. At some points he won't stop when hailed and I was only able to spot him when it was morning. Then I had a hell of a time finding the "spy" despite the LOC. Once you go up the waterfall just continue to walk straight ahead through a false wall and you drop down and aggro the spy.
During the finally few steps once you find Ennixy in FD you don't need faction to spawn Swiftmoon so have a higher level say "Hate be my guide." to her, locate him along the path from Ak'kanon, aggro him, drop him near where your baby shammy is logged, switch over and loot up.
I was formerly a necro years ago & I love this little trinket. Rooting is so unreliable when u need it most. You'll cast this during battle until it sticks and rest assured a train will not de-rail your tea party. Keep in mind it lasts for 8 ticks so keep root loaded as a back up obviously and it snares at 10% if you're wondering why the pathing distance seems to be random. You'll learn how to properly place your DoTs to control this distance as even a small hike by a dying NPC can spark a nasty train.
this quest is soloable in about 90 mins start to finish did this today with my 48 DE Inny Cleric had my 69 dru 2boxed for sow ect ... hardest part was getting that one dude to spawn always seemed his PH was up he took bout 45 mins to spawn but after that it was a cake walk
The answer to all of this is the following: In Grobb at the shammy guild (-53, -433) there is 'Savarixsa Zexus' which give you the note to raise your Innoruk faction . Well the note is sigend by Zaxun but well - it works.
In Freeport East at the dark side Cleric GMs there is 'Savarixsa Zaxun'. I didn't manage to hail or even speak to her. (also tried to hail her as Zexus).
54th troll shammy......... I can't use this though cause i worship cazic-thule.........stupid innoruk i gonna start a guild raid to kill him now just cause of thiis.. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.
i need the snare effects

SUCKS this item sucks lol jokin nice shammy item but my shammy is vah shir so that why im upset Does anybody know of snae effect item for vahshir shammy pls meeeooww
It there a restriction by level for the final part? Ithval keeps telling me "go hunt beetles instead" and "come back after you have killed some rats". I'm level 14 (supposedly it procs at that level), but he wont give me the quest. If i try to bypass it, I only get as far as the Dragoon, who takes the crate and tells me my hate is not strong enough.
How did people get this at level 9 if its level based or is that just a clever way of saying "get more faction"?
**** Update: I tried each level and 16 is the magic number, also carried that letter from Freeport a couple more times which helped faction some more *****
Hi all. I have had this item for a long time now and was just wondering if anyone has found the next part/upgrade for this quest line.... The Qeynos Badge of Honor (the "good" version of this quest liine) is now up to i think necklace 6 or 7...increasing the necklaces stats but retaining the "See Invis" effect.
It would be nice to have better stats but still retain the snare effect...anyone found the next one??
The Badge of Honor quests are not a good version of this quest. The Honor ones are wearable by all/all and not diety restricted as this one is. The other diety restriced cleric quest items that I have seen all go to three steps and stop there. So this is probaby the end of that line of quests for clerics of Innoruk. By this level you could be workin on your Sol Ro armor, and depending on you play style and current equipment that may or may not be a good way to get some items you will use.
go to the bazaar and buy 1 essence of dark elf potion
then buy about 20 stacks of red wine (local merchants sells them)
in 3rd gate go to the library and give Lokar To'biath 4 bottles of red wine ...he will reward you with exp and FACTION ....but only if you use the dark elf potion ....when you max out your faction ..change back into a troll by clickin the icon off and continue with the wine quest ....this sure beats killing 8-10 hours worth of halftlings...enjoy.
You can do this very quickly as a troll, without wine or dark elf illusions. Go to Freeport and find your way to the underground evil guilds. In one of the upper rooms of the underground guildmaster areas, you'll see a dark-elf cleric. Here's the catch. Her last name right now is Zaxun. (Her first name is an odd one.. Sax-something). You need to MANUALLY type in "Hail, (firstname) Zexus" and she will respond with what to do next to receive your faction. If you just use the H key, you will hail her by her wrong last name, and she will not respond.
Tricky.. I did this yesterday, so I know it works.
actually *drool* this is a GREAT item for a shaman. im almost ready to re-roll just for this. snare is exactly what a shaman needs to become a total hoss soloer like druids.
I have the piece like this for the lighties on my WE Druid (Tunarean Symbol of summut).
It's a manafree root, which is LOVELY for when you are fighting something and run low on mana, to root it while you med for that final nuke or dot, instead of having to kite or blow mana on a non-mana-free root. I can't tell you how many times the root neck piece has saved my druid (her life or a quad gone wrong), and I know other lighties who have said the same.
I can't wait to get this snare item for my inkie cleric, as my cleric's hunting partner is a BL, and they don't get snare either. This should make life much easier.

Ok, I went all the way back to Grobb to find out for myself who the note goes to. The note goes to Perrir, I believe it was in the neriak cleric guild, neriak 3rd gate. He is wearing full silver platemail and is easy to spot.
All trolls must do this part to be able to do the initiate quest. Handing in the note will raise your faction to amiably, from apprehensive right away. Alas, this is still not enough to do the quest. Next, perrir asks you to obtain leatherfoot raider skullcaps and bring them to him, to prove your worth to the priests of innoruuk.
What you need to do next is, kill leather foot deputies in nektulos forest, or the one that spawns in neriak commons, near the blind fish in the water. The ones in nektulos can be lvl 10-40. The one in the commons is usually about lvl 15-16, but he heardly ever drops the cap.
Once you hand in enough caps, you can do the quest. I had to turn in about 8 caps before I could do the quest. To check your faction, hail perrir, or ithvol'j kasn. If it is not high enough, he will say, I can see hate breeding in you, blah blah but you need to do more work. If he responds with a quest, wah lah, you can now start.
I am a Troll shaman trying to do this quest. Ithvol won't talk to me. I need to raise my faction.
One guy said kill halflings, but I need to get the letter from Grobb first. Well I got the letter but who do I give it to?! I forgot who she told me to bring it to.
Also, killing halflings doesn't give me a faction hit that says, priests of innoruuk got better. So I really don't think it's raising my faction!
Could anyone please tell me how to raise my faction so I can do this quest, thanks.
Any time you do a quest where all you do is hail or speak to someone, just do it again if you forget what to do. The only thing it will do is say duplicate lore items not allowed but will tell you the original instructions again. At least that is what happens on most quests I have seen.
I had Ithvol k'jasn repeat the previous part of the quest to me when I said "I will deliver provisions" as well. I believe if you just say "provisions" or " deliver" orsomthing like that, he will give you the correct response. /shrug.
there is a small bug in this quest i believe unless they have fixed it since. when you go to do the innoruuk regent quest and hail ithvol k'jasn in neriak third gate, he asks you something like "what rank do you hold?" you reply, "i am a disciple" and he tells you about and asks if you will help deliver the provisions. when you say, "i will deliver the provisions" he will repeat the "innoruuk disciple" quest instructions for the last stage of the quest you just finished. the rest of the quest works fine though, so if you know where to go next (dran "slug" rembor in neriak foreign quarter in a basement of an inn) it can still be completed even though ithvol will not confirm that the quest has been started. i have not checked, but you might be able to just go straight to dran and tell him "ithvol sent me" to continue the quest.
btw, you can also go back and repeat the "innoruuk initiate" and "innoruuk disciple" quests, i am gonna get myself another halfing skin mask (one time illusion halfling, lasts until you zone) for a halloween costume for my main.
PPS: this item rocks btw if you have nobody in the group with a better snare, and great for soloing when you don't want to waste mana and need to keep a wounded mob from running away. not to mention the nice little wis buff it has :)
curst darkweed remnants 33 troll shaman in the service of innoruuk
Hey hey, i wanna start this quest with my lvl uhm 0 shammy ogre, BUT my main is a Dr00d halfling so i cant really assist my lil big but twink (soon to be) shammy in neriak, SO 1 If you would wanna help me... Tell me who to do the quest step by step i know its all up there but hey whats written up there s0xUr big time i cant understand it =/ Please help me out here...
lol, ya like you are lvl60, how can you not understand those instructions, I don't think that anybody could say them more clearly... also, what is a "dr00d??" I've never seen any lvl 60's talk like that.
#Xeris,
Posted:Jun 25 2002 at 12:51 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Also, no Shamans can even worship Innoruuk so there is no point in getting it for a shaman...
Not true, Troll Shammys have the option of worshipping Cazic-Thule or Innoruuk. So, to better clarify your answer, Innoruuk worshipping Troll Shaman are the only ones who can do this quest.
That's because Ogres can't worship Innoruuk, though I wish they could, cause I'd love to have this on my ogre shammy, and I wish my ogre SK could have worshiped Inny too, but them's the breaks.
If you didn't already do it, I recommend doing the fire beetle eyes quest several dozen times before you attempt the Disciple symbol quest. You lose faction with the Dead, the Neriak Necro/Shadowknights. That's a bad thing to lose, especially as a Dark Elf cleric. I goofed on this one, and believe me, I am paying for it. This quest line is great, it really burns the lighties that we darker types get a snare/DoT clickable item.
Uh, question... fire beetle eye quest, isn't that Necro and Sk only, whereas this quest is for ALL worshipers of Innoruuk? Cause like, my DE Cleric can't get past the ghouls to do the fire beetle eye quest... unless there is a different fire beetle eye quest... Just checking, Thanks
Your DE cleric can't get past the ghouls guarding the entrance to the Neriak SK/Necro guild hall?? OK... here's a hint... the ghouls are UNDEAD... hmmm, how can a cleric get past UNDEAD without being seen by them.. Hmmm... if only there were a way for a cleric to be INVISIBLE TO UNDEAD... hmmmm.
I rarely get this riled, but Clinging Darkness for Clerics and Shammies? WTF?! What's next, Feign Death for Warriors? If Verant had one body, it would be in the trunk of my car.
Settle down, amigo... or at least have the courtesy to sign your name and take credit for such a knee-jerk flame.
Look at the whole picture for a bit and think about it.
Clinging Darkness is Lvl 4 for Necros and 15 for SK's. An Innoruuk Cleric or Shaman who wants to go after this isn't going to get it by their own (or a group's) power until the mid-20's probably. Even if they have higher-levels do the killing for them, from what I've read about this they can't trigger it until 15 or so anyhow. So by then, if they're grouped with a Necro, the Necro's gonna use the stronger Darkness spells they have by then (I forget all the names), and if they're with an SK, they don't need to use it.
This is another item for those situations when a person isn't grouped with another class who can match or beat the effect with their own spells, or when those same persons want to conserve mana for other spells. It's not going to REPLACE those classes by any means.
And, if you're STILL that mad about it after considering those facts, then by all means feel free to ignore the quest and never get one of these for yourself. Me, I'd rather have the options the thing can give me, than end up in a situation where I wish I'd gotten it and didn't have it.

I have done this whole quest. As a Troll you need to get the letter from the dark elf in the back on the Shaman Guild in Grobb. Then gain faction by killing halflings in Nektulos. Once you have enough faction, the main cleric in Neriak, will assign you the quest. Then just go from there.
By the way, Lots of fun killing those irritating lil halflings.

to use the effect of this item it must be equiped. This is a very nice item and not a hard quest to do. I found the quest fun actually. I did all three quests (they are cumulative) with help from a lvl 29 wizzy who was in it just for the faction. :-) i was lvl 8 at the time so obviously he did all the killing. This quest is mainly for dark elf clerics and is started at the dark elf cleric guild house. A lucky troll shammy or humi cleric that can get the faction with the cleric guild, faction with the (int)casters guild, and are followers of innoruuk are able to get this item as well. i know both races don't start out to well with either of these guilds though so somehow you must get the faction up.
my only question is this. are you able to do the lower quests again after you get this item. IE get the siphon strength piece to switch off with for that proc as well. honestly i don't really care but would seem pretty nice to have two sk/necro line spells at your fingertips with all your healing spells. Also nice to cast siphon strength to keep ur meleers from getting beat up TOO badly. ;-)
Siphron str might after the end of a particularly long and bloody battle save your tank around 3 hp. And ths a very big might, siphron str vs mobs is just a simple str buff that stacks with other longer duration str spells. Any real use for this will be if you are a meleeing (read bored) shammy or cleric or in PVP. PVP being able to strip str off the unsuspecting melee and then crushing him under the weight of his own armor. Sadly the debuff doesnt stack with the millions of other debuffs out there along the cripple/disempower lines. So if you want to buff up before ya beat on something make sure ya get this off before the chanty/shammy reams it.

Have to disagree on the HP savings, Farbe. Granted, when Siphon STR is first available it doesn't make as much difference, but that's largely because it only taps a couple of STR at the time. After levelling, it can eventually draw around 10 or so STR, which can save a few hundred HP of damage in the mid-range levels. Not to mention that reduced DPS from the critter means a little more leeway for getting off a heal during the fight.
Granted, it's a situational thing- you wouldn't use it unless you didn't have someone in your group who could do STR debuffs. But, in those situations, that tiny bit of extra edge can still make a difference, either in efficiency (if you don't have to heal as much, you don't have to med back as much afterwards) or in plain survival.

Well, I just finished doing the quests again. So I now have the Disciple and the Regent symbol. Just make sure when you go to get the Initiate symbol, to put the Regent symbol in a bag, so they won't know that you have it. Ask Perrir (sp?) and turn in 4 halfling amulets, then go get Whoopal's head and do all of the Disciple quest, and you'll have them both.
Good Luck, Killing annoying lil halflings is fun

Can other classes use it for the right clickability? I.E. Would my chanter under illusions and using alliance, If I did this quest would I be able to use these gloves?
this is also AWESOME for shamans who get great dots, also GREAT PVP fighting, fighting someone then u darken em they'd be like WTF was that hehehe /grin
With this item soloing isn't one of those thing clerics have to fear anymore. I've been able to fear kite with this,it does have a long cast time but once you get it off it gives you the chase to either RUN like the wind or kite it. ITs nice to be able to choose what battles you want to fight or flee from. Thats my 2CP.
