Idol - 675
Pie - 25
Cabbage - 200
Sickle - 250

The powers that be of this site are aware of the problem of the mana regen not showing up in the profiles.

Now if they could just figure out how to fix it. Smiley: frown

Are you low level (under the level some say it is "supposed" to work - 41 or something)? If so, go in the game, open inventory window, and see where your numeric mana score is. Sit and med with the earring on - and see how many points it goes up each pulse. Then take off the earring and see how many points it goes up each pulse. If it goes up one more w/ the earring on, the FT1 is working. And then this debate will be over, hallelujah! Pls post results here! Thx much.

I believe what s/he is saying, and I agree, is the Flowing Thought 1/mana regen. is not showing up in the Allakhazam character profiles , that many of us keep on our characters. (For instance Boots of Flowing Slime show my character has FT 3 equiped, but the Solstice Earring does not show FT1), and it's a great short cut to research other FT 1 items besides =)
If an Admin.Admin. sees this I also ask if you would fix it for us.

[At the risk of being overly redudant - lol. The person wasn't saying it didn't appear or work correctly in Everquest, but that it wasn't in Allakhzam.]

I've just got this on my level 17 Cleric - obviously the stats aren't maxed because of the recommended level, but it still shows 'mana regeneration +1' on the item, and I've confirmed I am actually regenning the extra 1 mana/tick with the earring equipped.

I have 2 Mana Regen at level 65 (yeah, I know it's sad). It's working fine. Here is my [link=javascript:view_profile(749307);]Magelo[/link] profile. The mana regen shows up properly there.

There's a problem in Alla's database that isn't displaying mana regen from (some) items properly in our character profiles on this site.

mana regen works when?
# Aug 06 2004 at 4:54 PM Rating: Decent
1,463 posts
Have noticed a debate here - does the mana regen on this item work at lvl 1 or 44? Lucy says "level 44". So some people say that means it doesn't work until 44. Another poster says get the item, stand and put it on - and just watch - you can see your mana regen faster. He says that if an item has a "wearable effect" it works the second you can wear it - like if a bard gets the EB armor (that says it doesn't work until 45 or so) - the EB works at lvl 1 (the other bard armor clickables don't - they don't work til 45). Now that we have numbers and you can see how much your mana goes up each pulse, can someone who has this item (and isn't 44 yet) please tell us what the numbers say? Maybe that would end this debate. Thanks much. (I don't have it yet - if I get it anytime soon I'll post)
RE: mana regen works when?
# Aug 19 2004 at 11:30 AM Rating: Decent
In my experience, the recommended level seems to
"round up". So if it says recommended lvl 51
and you are lvl 26, the amount you get is 0.509
which rounds up to 1.0 mana regen.

But if you are 25/51 then you get 0.490 which
rounds to 0.0 mana regen.

Just my opinion.

I appreciate the thought. But I still maintain the debate would be ended only if someone under lvl 51 who has the earring - esp. someone lvl 10 say - gets the earring and just looks at the numbers where there numeric mana score is displayed - they will see whether or not it's working (see how much mana goes up each pulse w/ and w/out the earring on). I hope someone can do that. I had to quit playing for a few weeks, am back, and am still putting together the $ for this item. Thx much!

They changed Flowing thought to read Mana regeneration. This earring was Flowing thought 1, now it is mana regeneration 1. It is the same effect it has always been, I believe, just worded differently.

# May 12 2004 at 4:55 PM Rating: Decent
So what IS the level for the flowing thought effect? One guy says 44 while another (loudmouth) guy says every lvl 1 twink now has one. With a recommended lvl for the stats of 51 that wouldn't make much sense unless the FT1 worked at lvl 1. Can anyone tell me for sure?

I have all the components and am deciding whether to sell them or I should turn them in.

The effect from this earring is not showing up in profiles on Allakhazams. The FT2 from my ornate bracer shows up, but the FT1 from this is not showing.

Actually, oddly its showing up as FT1 on my cleric's profile, but doesn't show up for my druid. this is an FYI for the site admins, since I cannot send email from this comp.

Well, I take that back, not that I updated my cleric's profile, half his FT items do not show in his profile.

Basically its not showing up on profiles because they've had to remove the whole "Flowing Thought I" etc.. etc... everything is now Mana Regen +1 and what not.

I'm sure the guys here are working hard to get the profiles up to date as well as changing all those FT items over to Mana Regen items. Just a matter of time.

Madmurr makes a good point; make sure when you open it says Forge, not Oven. If that is correct, next thing I can guess is that you may possibly have more than 1 of the "stackable items" (Lucky Cabbage, the Picnics, etc.) it will not combine. Only other thing I can think of is you may not have all the correct pieces :( This is possible if you bought the MQ kit; checking to make sure all 9 items are right can be easily overlooked. Luckily, most of the items are fairly cheap except the Idol, fishing pole, and the cutting sickle, and the rest are cheap food items easily "rebought". Hope thats one of the possibilities. If it is, gratz on your soon-to-be earring!

Even though the level for effect is 44 the rest of the stats are still much much better than a lot of ear slots out the components are relatively cheap for the stats. 4k for a +8 int, +55 mp/hp Ear slot? its unheard of! The fact that it comes with FT I is just icing on the cake.
If you are a caster class, get this earring. It's definately worth the 4k you spend in the bazaar finding the components.

Well, as I was in the bazaar the other day, I noticed some Demi-sec Champagne up for sale. Low and behold, it is not usable by any class or race, and also was not purchaseable by my HIE Magi.

I've noticed that sometimes when I try to buy from a vendor and someone has just bought something else from that vendor, for some reason, I cannot purchase any of his items unless I refresh(update?) the vendors in the /bazaar window. I don't know why this happens or why it works but it does for me.

Even if you can't use it you can still buy any item provided it's not Lore and you have one. :)

Not being able to buy after someone else has just bought may have to do with the server re-issueing slot location to the items on the vendor ... as a hole opens up after an item is bought all other items shuffle upward. With lag being an issue, refreshing gives time for the servers to do their thing.

********* FT1 works at level one. *******

IF YOU DONT BELIEVE ME TEST IT STANDING UP. Of COURSE it doesnt seem to improve regen sitting down, because 1 more mana isnt incredibly noticable while medding, but when STANDING you can see that it DOUBLES your base regen. (and factors in while medding, just not as noticeably)

The point is that it works at level 1. Tired of people saying they dont want to buy one yet because it "doesnt work til 51, or 44"...

********* FT1 works at level one. *******

Edit: Even more convincing: EVERY WORN item effect will work as soon as you can equip it. Example: Singing Steel Gauntlets say level of effect 45, yet a lvl 1 can wear em and have perma EB. Same with every other worn effect.

As someone stated, Lucy states the effect on the item doesn't work until 44. Just reached 44 and I have noticed a major mana regen change. I'm too lazy to do any serious testing, all I am doing is basing it off my med time. 43 took forever to med. 44 is a bit faster. Doesn't seem like much but trust me... it is.

This is going to sound totally insane to most of you, but I just ran this quest ten times, costing a total 32kpp, actually 32,400pp total.
Two druids, two shaman, one cleric, one ranger, one beastlord, and one paladin. Yes, I two box it and like to have transportation for melees on both accounts, as well as having shammie buffs available to me.

My point is the cost really has come down, and this item is well worth it.

I'd wear a FT1 earring with NO int/wis, before I gave up the effect.

You'd be amazed how much a couple FT help, when recovering for a group (or raid) wipe.

Many casters, at some point get a self mana regen spell. PoT9 for druids, Armor of the Zealot for clerics, Enchanters get all the good ones, etc...

However, when recovering from a wipe with rez effects, its often the case that nobody has enough mana to cast these spells.

I've noticed, with my cleric (hes got FT10 total, and one in MC), I'm usually the first person after a wipe to be able to cast spells. First spell I cast is AoZ on myself. That gives me an extra 8 in mana regen, for a total of 19, on top of my sitting regen rate.

Wisdom is MUCH easier to raise than FT. First, there are a LOT of high wisdom items. Second, you can get something like 30 or 40 points of wisdom using AAs. Third, +6 wis augs drop in LDON, and +10 wis augs can be purchased in the adventure camps.

There is a TOTAL of 6 in FT items available in the adventure camps, and only ONE that can be put on NON-LDON purchased gear.

Now, don't get me wrong, I agree that the other stats are WONDERFUL for the price/effort of getting this. In fact, its such a nice earring that my WARRIOR wears one, for the hp and ac. But the FT takes this item up a notch, from a "that would be nice to have" earring, to a "I MUST have this" item, for most casters/hybrids getting into their 40s/50s for the first time.

Not sure when/if it has changed since you posted, but currently there are 8 FT augs that can be purchased from LDoN merchants. And 2 of them fit into type 7 slots, which is what the vast majority of gear has (notable exceptions are Time and LDoN gear). You can use Allas search engine to find them.

At the time of that post, some of the FT augs had not been posted yet, most notably the FT2 aug in D Guk. Oh, and I wasn'yt counting PoTime augs, as most people will not be able to use them.

Still though, the general comment is true. Its easier to max wis than FT.

Don't get me wrong. I LOVE the other stats on this earring. My warrior even wears one. But its the FT that REALLY mankes this earring. My eventual plan is to aug the one on my cleric with the FT1 type 7 aug.

The FT I is nice, mostly as a low level twink item for pure casters or to add another point towards the 15 cap, but the stats really are pretty killer considering the price, especially for any class that casts. 8 int/wis and +55 mana? That's not a half bad earring, even without the other nice stats and the lovely worn effect.
FT1 DOES Work On 35 Shaman

Just tried an experiment on my 35 shaman. Naked and unbuffed with two sets of items. First group was Earring of Solstice and Velium Ruby Veil and second group was Large Smoothmetal Torque, Othmir Fur Cap and Withered Leather Leggings. So the + wis is the same on both groups, with only a 2 mana difference (earring group higher) at level 35. Total wis was 122 during the testing.

Cast True North (5 mana cost) down to zero and sitdown and med. Only a 24ish second difference between the two after 4 trials with each set (no stopwatch...just looking a clock, so some error).

Then of course I got smart and did the testing again WHILE STANDING. With earring, 49 minutes. Without, 49 minutes to get to 50 percent mana.

Conclusion: FT1 works for level 35 toons...

i congrat you on doing the smart thing and testing while standing ...of course if you are a pure caster you won't notice any differnece when medding with this earing...c'mon you already get 20-30 mana a tick whats 1 more gonna do ....however FT (even 1) is great for any hybrid or caster who is forced to stand a lot and to cheap for a horse : P

The truth is even 1 more mana will make a huge difference,

3 mana per tick = 30 mana a minute
4 mana per tick = 40 mana a minute

It also stacks with clarity

7 mana per tick = 70 mana per minute

Ah, but you can wear several FT items that add up to 15 mana per tick. THAT, you will notice.

I had three other people tell me that ft1 does indeed work on this item for a level one toon.

Okies, I ran an experiment. I tried medding with the item on and without it on using my level 34 wizzy.

FT1 seems to work at higher levels only

Lucy states that the item effect kicks in at level 44. I bought two of these for my low level twinks and this seems correct. It did NOT seem to increase the mana regen rate of my level 34 Wizzy.

The Flowing ThoughtI makes a HUGE difference. This is an easy and excellent quest. Found all items in the bazaar (Bristlebane server). Completed on 9/15/03. We watched prices for about a week and picked up pieces when we saw them low.
Here's what we paid for the items (prices are in platinum)
* Demi-Sec Champagne - 40
* Mistletoe Cutting Sickle - 1250
* Golden Idol of Tunare -120
* Blessed Fishing Rod - 950
* Star Ruby Encrusted Stein -
* Ceremonial Solstice Robe - 800
* Lotus Pie - 30
* Misty Thicket Picnic - 7
* Lucky Cabbage -40
If you're a caster, you need this item! Imagine the stats with an augmentation from LDON. You might as well augment it since it's no drop anyway.

I have a ranger who has this item. also have a shammy, cleric and a beastlord partway through buying the parts (I really should get my enchanter one too, lol). Anyway, IMHO, this really is a must for any caster. Great stats on an earring. And an easy quest. As long as the pieces are on sale in the bazaar, takes minutes to complete (with the cash of course!)

Here are the average prices I paid on the 7th Hammer (Oct 2003)
Demi-Sec Champagne 33
Mistletoe Cutting Sickle 1600
Golden Idol of Tunare 910
Blessed Fishing Rod 1300
Star Ruby Encrusted Stein 37 (but suddenly jumped to stupid prices 200+)
Ceremonial Solstice Robe 450
Lotus Pie 95 (but again have gone up significantly)
Misty Thicket Picnic 25
Lucky Cabbage 40

So roughly 4.5k not as cheap as some servers but an essential bit of kit and when you look at any other item with a FT1 on it you can easily move the decimal place to the right. Yep well worth the hunting for bargins. Now im looking at getting skilled enough to make some of these items for sale. Hope this helps you 7th Hammers!

Reading further down, points made by ppl regarding this for melees.. Yup, I agree. The AC/STA/Resists and HP do make for a nice Melee ear piece. Mmm.. I think I need my Warrior to be added to the list LOL!

These price are ridiculous considering the price on Golden Idol of tunare which is considerably low FYI distilled mana that is used on this cost like 200+pp, I wonder how he earn money from selling the item which is over 100 loss on making the item.
#housemusic, Posted: Oct 04 2003 at 12:31 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Bah!, FT1 makes little differnce. Not that this isnt a nice item but. . you hardly notice 1 mana per tick. The +55hps and the saves + the wis / int are the sweet part for me.

For any pure caster, it makes little difference, true (note that anything helps, however). but where it's probably best is for hybrids. hybrids spend the whole fight standing and don't get to sit down to med, so they need all the mana regen they can get. also, their spells tend to cost less mana at a given level than their pure caster counterparts, so they get more milage out of the little mana this gives.
Pallys who run arround lulling everything, then get to tank, beastlords who cast and melee, SKs who snare and cast hate spells to manage agro, all these guys are burning mana without a chance to sit down and med like the clerics and the wizzies do. This earing is especially good for them.

Ran through the bazaar tonight and did the same, just bought everything as low as I could. 3.1k later, my enchantress walked away with a useless spell, Xanthe's earring, and another point in blacksmithing. ~chuckles~

Tomorrow, off to Fungus Grove for her Flowing Thought Earring. She gets all of the good stuff that I can't seem to use. ~frowns~ First she pilfers my coiffers for a Drogmor, then swipes the Pants of the Storms that I won...then the Ring of Thunderous Spirits, and a Spaulders of the Slavemaster... And now she gets an earring with MORE of my money.

~blinks~ And here I thought *I* was the rogue of the family. :\

on the fennin server depending on the slot are selling from 29K up to 60K so that makes this a very good quest for someone that hasn't reached the Highend of the Game yet.
