not a mistake...

Even with a 25/25 weapon, bards do not match the melee damage of a paladin/SK wielding a 25/25... (double attack > dual wield, and has the primary hand damage bonus)... without talking about bashing. Bards (even with this) are still well behind other melee classes.

So, I would not think this is a mistake, rather the bard melee issues are an oversight by Verant that is now being fixed with weapons like this.

This weapon would somewhat be a waste in the hands of a bard...reguardless of haste effects they just can't double attack and would just do more damage with 2 different weapons.

Any tank worth his own weight in salt should be able to hold taunt over a bard, especially if they're supposed to hold taunt over classes like monks and rangers that are true damage dealers.

Bards are not damage dealers compared to warriors, monks, rouges, rangers..but they do so many good things in groups making them a damge dealer (adding double attack) would just be overpowering and unbalancing in this game.

This weapon would be far better in the hands of a SK or Pally, because for the sake of the raiding force, they will be inflicting the most damage with this thing...and they can also take the heat from aggro drawn...

And giving bards double attack would be as unbalancing as giving Pally's and SK's dual wield...SK's and Pallys aren't damage dealers either so don't feel bad bards, we're just here to tank/tag mobs...lets the warriors, monks and rouges spam the screen, but if you're playing a non ranger hybrid and expect to be a damage dealer at the higher levels you will be sorely disappointed.

I love some of these posts....sure...for Pure melee dmg..you know, smacking it with weapons, a Sk, Pally, Ranger does WAY more dmg than a Bard, because of the double attack and such. But the Bard can actually outdmg that same Sk, Pally, Ranger very easily...that same Sk, Pally, or Ranger will also go OOM trying to keep up with that bard.

I have played a bard and they do not stack haste, only the other components such as str or dex stack, which is why you see both icons. Until very high level it is best to let the shaman or chanter do haste if mana permits since their spells are faster than the songs.

Keep in mind that most bard weapons seem to be on a slower delay due to the fact that bards have strong Haste songs. Yes, in the end they still might not do that much damage but do not let it deceive you.

"Strong Haste Songs!" This weapon procs a 40% haste effect that will not stack with bard haste songs (making the effect basically useless for bards).

If this buff is a spell affect then it most certainly will stack with a song haste. You can stack an Item haste, Spell haste, Song haste, and I believe a natural haste (like illusion werewolf) the last one is a bit sketchy, it appears to work in trials with my enchanter but I have yet to find anything definitive on the subject.

But I fail to see why this effect could not stack with the bard song, unless the effect counted somehow as a song...

Most bard songs DO NOT stack with spell haste. the exceptions being the Ervaj songs.

If you've actually ever played a bard you would know that all bard songs stack with spells and item effects. Most of the time though, at the high end game, only the ones that make you exceed the haste cap are the only ones that are useful. But low end, all songs stack with everything but other songs. And yes this will stack with bard songs, sice it is an item effect,

You, my friend, are wrong. Get a parse and check before rambling untruths. The only stacking haste songs are the Vah line. (I havent messed with Ervaj but it may)

Ervaj stacks, but for the extra 5 or 10% it aint really worth it, unless you have your epic. Needs a lute, so it basically means your trading the damage you dish out just to make others 5 or 10% faster.

Hardly a viable option if you consider bards doing around 40% of the damage of a warrior. Epic-fied, its different, as you dont need to switch out your weapon.

It seemed odd that bards were left off the similar 1h blunt item, then I saw they were allowed to use this puppy. Damn near the best bard melee weapon out there (and the best for encounters where you don't want agro from LIB / blazing rapier / other procs). Still, I've got a sinking suspicion the class listings will be "fixed" in the next patch.

Yeah, seems like a mistake...it WOULD make more sense that a bard be able to use the club as well...this sword would make a good replacement for my warrior's sword...but alas...he'll prolly never see it! :P Grats to whoever got this! BTW...what exactly drops these weapons?
