Gratz Dregor of FoH on this godly sword....
#REDACTED, Posted: Apr 30 2002 at 9:15 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Heh... Considering that Furor thinks this is a piece of junk, I just wonder what exactly would be a good 2h weapon?

I believe that it's considered a piece of junk because of the encounter that yields it. Just for an example, compare this to the Petrified Heartwood Flamberge off Tunare. Now, for a guild like FoH, at any given time I'd imagine they could stroll into PoG, clear it, and kill Tunare, and be down what, 4, maybe 5 hours?

Now look at the Emperor of Ssraeshza. First, in order to even get to him, you have to key everyone that you intend to take with you for the fight. The process of getting a key for just one person can take a couple days. Now multiply that times 72 (the amount of people FoH took with them for the fight). Then, you've gotta get those bane weapons. Maybe not as bad as the keys, but still, another timesink to deal with. Then after you've spent all that time getting keys and bane weapons for everyone that's going, you can go take your shot at the emperor. Total time spent trying to achieve that goal? A month? 2? 4? It depends on how committed your guild is to getting in there. Then, after all that work, one of the rewards is a weapon that is equal to or slightly better than the one off Tunare?

From that standpoint, I can understand why they feel the way they do about receiving that sword as loot from the Emperor. Hopefully VI will see this as well and change it, as they did the 2 drops that Triton got from their Emperor slaying. Here's to hoping.

Well, likely no two-handed weapon. Taunt is the goal of any Main Tank, especially one of Furor's knowledge.

Despite the offensive capabilities of this, the generation of hate is all that Furor and the like are concerned with (and rightly so). If it does not add more HP than two weapons and cannot generate more hate than those two weapons, then it is either a primal for swap-in or is bank fodder. Honestly, the 50 AC means very nearly nothing at this level and the 100HP lifetap is merely a nod. The ratio, being a two-hander, is not enough to balance the hate from two proccing, low-delay weapons.

Don't get me wrong, the weapon is indeed godly, but not for the MT of the guild that can get it. The offtank Warriors will loot it with some glee of course.

Aye indeed. Grouped with a pally today who had just gotten this sword. Mentioned something about it being upgraded possibly in the future. This thing procs alot and does serious damage, may suck as MT weapon but damn nice in exp groups.

Most intelligent posts i've ever read.
It actually explained something, and best of all, it didnt say ub3r l33tZ 4 m0|\|kZ or something stupid.

Of course, any joe schmoe who isnt the main tank would love to get their hands on this... but thats only in dreaming.

Just curious, what kind of damage we looking at here for this thing? something on the order of 300-400 damage a hit?

using shovel of the harvest as a lvl 57 monk with 220 str (50dmg 43dly), average hit of about 150 and max hit of 315

At lvl 60 with everything maxed out, and hitting planar creatures. I would expect the max damage to be somewhere in the 400's.

I use a primal claidhmore(2H slash) and it hits for 292 max at lvl.60 for a ranger.

Max non-crit hit for any weapon is 7.09x the weapon's damage...at 65, of course. This is irrespective of class, race, etc. That's the absolute cap. Don't recall the multiplier for crits, but it's somewhere around 11.3x...ish...

...and for those of us who can get it, Slay Undead 3 brings that number to 103.1x. *grins*
