At the beginning of the quest for the Necromancer 7th Rank Skullcap Harbinger Gosk gives Unfinished Sceptre. http://lucy.allakhazam.com/item.html?id=12873

It is not clear here, but reports from one or more players seem to state that it is necessary to put this Unfinished Sceptre in the forge with
Eye of RokGus
Gem of Yet to Come
Jewel of Ganak
Shiny Emerald
Forge Hammer of Dalnir

All of you who posted about this item being horrible are idiots. Those of you who tried to explain, nice try, but there is no explaining to IDIOTS. They just never understand.
#REDACTED, Posted: Jul 26 2002 at 5:41 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Holy ****!! I just got one of these badboys for my rogue. There is no dmg cap even at lvl one. I'm hitting for 50dmg with it yet its slow enough to make sure I don't get hit. this is a MAD item.

Ummm maybe if we started calling it 'Sceptre of EMPEROR Vekin' like it says on the jpeg image, VI would nerf to be NEC useable. :p

This sceptre is not actually a "reward", it is the quest item you need to get your next skullcap. You must get the unfinished sceptre from Harbinger Glosk, the presiding master of the Brood of Kotiz. With this unfinished sceptre in hand, you need to find the four missing gems to finish it: Heart of Torsis, Eye of Rokgus, Gem of Yet to Come, and the Crown Jewel of Ganak. Next, you go to Dalnir and get a Dalnir Forge Hammer from the undead blacksmith. Once you have this hammer, you work your way down to the "Always Works" Dalnir Forge, to combine the items and make the Sceptre of Emperor Vekin. With the finished sceptre in hand, you return to Harbinger Glosk, and hand him your Revenants Skullcap with the Sceptre of Emperor Vekin, to receive your Sorcerers Skullcap and some praise from Glosk. You don't actually use the sceptre; most of the quest is comprised of gathering the gems and completing the sceptre in the forge.

While this item may not make much sense to someone who happens to glance over it and where it comes from, it makes quite a bit of sense when you're doing the quest and know what it's really for. :)

Its most likely an item that you will hand in to *upgrade* or get the final quest...seeing as how the level required to do the quest (and difficulty) and the quality of the reward don't really match up...

ROFL That's funny ^_^

And while it does say, "intermediate quest reward in the necromancer 7th rank quest," it's still wierd since it's no drop.

Maybe they're trying to give the quest that role playing flavor - you get an item, regardless of whether or not you can use it, to turn in for your final item (which better be a heckuva lot more useful than this thing). But who knows with Verant. Maybe their people are going brain dead what with all the different projects they're on now - Planes of Power, PS2, still fixing current bugs, likely working on another expansion or more new content in game...

Actually there are many NODROP quest items. Just because you cannot trade them to other players does not mean you can't give them to NPCs (but the item won't be on the NPC corpse if you kill them, so no it's not a way to make NODROP items tradeable).

still fixing current bugs
LOL they ALWAYS fix current bugs! I've NEVER played a game with more bugs! And I pay for it! We pay for it! We r all braindead!
I don't know bout you, but i would rather have them fixing all the bugs than working on POP.

Why limit yourself to games with bugs, go pickup any Microsoft product off the shelf, and run that for a while, bugs galore!
I have to agree, we have been brainwashed, by Microsoft mainly. I can remember the days when you could go to the electronics store and buy a computer game, and actually expect it to run on your computer, or a piece of productivity software, but not anymore.
Woot Microsoft, you have increased your skill at brainwashing 255!

If you want to play a game with more bugs, play 10six www.10six.com Run by Sega Corp. That game has bugs from it's ALPHA VERSION! And I don't mean some of them, all of them. There is currently over 300 bugs listed.. and pretty much every bug that has ever been listed in their bug listings is still in-game. I think Verant is doing a great job. I hardly ever run into any bugs.

Every piece of software in its Alpha or Beta version has bugs by definition. An Alpha version of software is a pre-release copy that is given to a select group of users to test. Once the Alpha version has made it though its testing and the bugs have been mostly fixed, it goes to Beta. A Beta test version generally goes to a larger audience than the Alpha. Beta is generally the final testing stage before commercial release. (If you run EQ on the Test servers, you're running a Beta copy.)

So, yeah, if you're running an Alpha version of a game, it's 3 steps away from commercial release. You'll find bugs. That's the whole purpose of the Alpha release.

Calli, I think he was saying that the final product still has a bunch of bugs from when it was in Alpha stage.
#REDACTED, Posted: Apr 15 2002 at 6:01 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) hello people this is an online game that meens not only do they have to try and make it work on your system but on any possable system out there and any possabl combonations of graphic cards and sound cards that takes alot to program and it is simple to see how bugs get into the system jsut think windows is over a million lines of code writen by a large group of people no matter how you try and set a structure for all them to program at people think differently so parts of the program might not work togeather properly due to the diffence in codeing and try this spend 8 hours a day 7 days a week for 2 months jsut typeing a flowing story get 20 or your friends to do the same in the end pile them togeather and see how the story flows not very smooth hmm that is sort of a simple look at a programing bug
