The MB model has a nasty knockback spell that will knock you into the lava. I haven't found a reliable way out of the lava yet, so I would advise levitate if possible. Even back to the wall tactics don't eliminate the possibility of winding up in the lava. Levitate works flawlessly though.
Just been camping this mob on the Combine server (28/09/06). There is a 20 mins spawn time and it is the wanderer, it spawns in the pick and bucket room. I set up camp just across and to the left of the first bridge after that room in a small niche. Very easy camp, spawned on the third kill. Mob wanders between bucket and castle courtyard.
I'm very sorry about the several entries under my name for pricing.... I don'T know if it's just me but the website is acting weird on me thse days... I did not mean to add the price more than once *lol*

I went to Sol A about 10PM and EXG was camped. Came back around midnight, no one else in zone. I set up at the room with the pick and bucket, up the path from the courtyard. There is one wandering mob that goes back and forth between the courtyard and this bucket room. I just kept killing the wandering mob. First 3 were regular clockwork type models. The next 2 were clockwork spiders. The next 1 was the EXG model, which resisted every spell I cast, and I was using my main to get the item for my alt cleric, and my main is a 52 pally. Could not root it, stun it, etc. Just have to melee it. I was hoping to root it because when it got low on health I didn't want it wandering off into the lava or training all the other gnomies on me. 20 greenies adds up to a lot of damage heh. However, the other gnomies didn't aggro at all, just stood and watched, probably with horror, as I keeled their EXG model.
The EXG dropped the Charred Guardian Breastplate. Ack, that's not what I wanted, was after the shield. But hey, bonus, a decent item to sell in EC. Looking at this site, I saw they are priced about the same, the shield and BP. Anyway...So after 2 hours I was thinking I was going to have to wait another 2 for the EXG to respawn and hopefully it'd have the shield this time.
On the very next pop, it was the EXG model AGAIN. I was amazed. This time it had the shield. She (it's a she) obviously was equipping it so you could tell she had it. Woo-hoo.
So, the actual spawn point is somewhere inbetween the courtyard and the bucket room. It doesn't matter, just hang out somewhere along that path between the two. It wanders back and forth. The wanderer is sometimes a clockwork spider, a regular gnomie clockwork, and then apparently at random intervals, the EXG model.
Yea, but at high level, a +10 AC doesn't make that much of a difference either because most of the time you sit on your butt, unless you have some uber hammer that procs uber DD.
Now that clerics can bash I have seen more and more of them fighting, especially on encounters against casters that CH themselves. I think this makes the CGS worth it.
Side note: I'm pretty sure those little gnomie geeks and thier robots see right thru invis. I imagine that would make it a little more time consuming at lower lvls.
For those like me who read kill the ph and had now idea who the place holder was. I guess everyone assumed everyone else knew. Which by the way they dont. A few of you are wrong as to who the ph is too. So heres the scope. there is one clockworks that acutually wanders the hallway to and from the courtyard. This is the ph. Kill it and hopefully the model exg will spawn. It may not. Another ph may spawn in its place. Just keep killing the ph till the model exg pops. By the way the quest will drain your faction with the gnomes which is an execellent place to sell the stuff you find in Sol A Especially the ore which wieghts a ton
I have noticed an Ability of the CGS that is not Listed on the Shield. The CGS acts as A Light Source! Though I am not sure if it is equal to a GLS, it is pretty Close. After I discovered this, my druid stopped carrying a GLS and to carry another Backpack.
Maybe some of you other CGS owners, might want to test to see if the CGS acts as a light Source. Access tunnels to RV, SFG or BB are easy places to test it as a light source.
I dont understand why would the price be so cheap?? i mean it has 9 WIS its practicly like a paw of oppala so why is the paw worth more than the shield??? I am so confused.
Paw of oppolla is primary also. This is secondary only, and competes with the easy Testament of Vanear quest for secondary slot wisdom item. Secondary wisdom items are worth less than primary wis items of the same stats. Similarly, a range item with this much wisdom would be worth many thousands of plat. Its not just the stats, its the slot it goes in.

This was actually the easiest camp I have done so far. Once you get into Sol, get to area 9 (goto eqatlas.com to get map). This is the place where it is SUPPOSE to spawn. It actually spawns up the path from the gate of the castle. My friend and I camped it for 2.5 hours 3 nights ago and we each got a shield. Not sure if it has a PH, but we wacked 4 cycles worth of "Pops". The area to camp is very safe, has a bucket and pick in the corner. Keep in mind, this mob is magic resistant. Seems only DMG shields worked against it. SO .. have a healer and slug it out. Estimated spawn time 1 - 2 hours (not sure when we first got there) but we only saw 2, and both had shield. Good hunting

Posted:Nov 25 2001 at 7:45 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) can i have it? i am a rogoe. my name is mondenkind. i am on weekends online. a good piercing weapon - better as gsfang will be good too. cu
For the love of Tunare... why would a rogue want this? Rogues are damage dealers, they should be dual weilding something. This is a wis item clearly. So just for wis casters, maybe paladins.
If you are a rogue, can't dual wield yet and have enough money you should center your attention in acquiring a cracked darkwood shield for the extra strength.
If you click on the link 'Pricing Data' you can see that some smart guy thought it would be funny to screw up the price. HAHA, very funny, here's your cookie, good job!
Just a question. I saw someone mention that the CGS is better than the ToV, sans weight. Is this true? I'm just wondering. I was given a CGS for giving an Elf a Bind. Do I keep it, ot continue and Quest for the ToV? Any sugestions are certainly welcome. :)
Friend, it says right there the average price is 420 pp. I had a Dwarven tunic thrown up in the bank, and I was wearing a RYGOR TUNIC. This item increased Strength, but not what a cleric really needs. I traded my ry'Gor tunic for THIS (CGS) and a Bone Wrath hammer. (you do the math). It was a great deal. I thiink the reason they can sell for so much is basicaly EVERYONE wants one.
This thing IS very nice. The Wis bonus is great. Unfortunaltly I had a bark shield AC15+15 agility. And I lost some AC.
See i came here at one point to see if I was ripped off or got a good deal.
CGS - (according to the site) Average Price: 420pp Bone Wrathe hammer - Average Price: 466pp --- Ry'Gor Tunic - Average Price: 941pp ---
So I got a decent deal according tot hese prices. Maybe you could assume it SHOULD be about the cost of those 2 items on your server? Just go to tunnel and /shout PC on CGS ? That way you know what its worth to those on your server?
Well, I am playing on Bertoxx, one of the oldest server online, and the price for the CGS is 400 to 500pp and has been for almost a year now. Zhis item is pretty common by now but 9 WIS is quiet a lot for such a common item. Almost all CLR/SHM/DRU use or used em and most twinks get one to start with. Therefor the price is relativ stable and I guess it will remain in that area.
I was looking to buy one of these on the Povar server, and have seen 2 offered at 1kpp...could this be true? Are they still worth THAT much? Everywhere else I've seen, they're much lower than that...am I crazy for not wanting to pay that much for this item, or is this the new going rate?
Just got done with a 2 hour camp of the exg, specifically for the shield (which we decided our druid would get). I had been told about a 15 minute spawn rate for the ph and the exg which seems about right, but, is 2 hours camp about right for the exg to spawn? Or is it completely random in nature? It feels right to me cause last time i was here for the shield, it was around 2 hours to get him to spawn (once we figured out what he had to kill to make him spawn). I am just curious if this about right or not. thanks
i have to say that this spawn is about every two hours but can pop randomly as well we camped him for about 6 hrs while collecting metalite for our sk's and got him 3 times and the ph once...the first spawn was only 15 mins after we got there so it was some good timing and he dropped the bp then 2 hrs later the ph spawned (anyone know what that power source is for?)...2 hrs later he spawned again while we where taking down the high shammy back up we went our monk solo'd him he was lvl 33 and really wanted to do it...no problem....this time he droped the shield...then we take out all the other cwg and miners to get rdy for gabbie...we kill gabbie about 15 mins later who droped that crap quill...while fighting a miner that spwaned on us right after gabbie POP!!! and exg spwans on us again...say 20mins after we kill the other one and boom baby he hasa shield again....over all a good night in sol a both our clerics got a shield

someone actually did give me this item. they wanted to sell it but i had almost no coin. i was willin to trade most of my stuff (read crap) to get it. the other player, who is hella nice guy didnt want any of it, an just up an gave it to me. I have had several ppl i dont know give me stuff, without me asking. it just goes to show there are some nice ppl on pvp. Dont get me wrong, i dont like annoying ppl who beg, but when i get high lvl i will definately give away items like this to ppl who need them-- esp when i got them for free. An unexpected act like this can make someones day, and that good vibe should be passed along when possible. And to the person laughing, obviously nobody has done anything nice for you--wonder why that is. What goes around, comes around, and its not all about items and plat, spend 10 mins showing sombody around a city, or give a pathetic newb a free tp and bind, because you know they will never make it on their own. It seems to me there are three types of players, those who are willing to help others whenever they can, those who only mooch help whenever they can, and those who never help anybody. You need to ask yourself, which group do you want to be in, and remember you live with the rep you earn.
I play a 47th Druid on Tunare named Fawwn. You hit the nail right on the head. I will go out of my way NOT to help beggars. They really jerk my chain - Especially the little punks that walk up and say, "give me stuff" - like it's a hot key.
On the flip side, I love helping out kind people. I often walk up to a newbie that looks like they are trying hard to level and wave at them. If they wave back or say anything, I'll usually buff them to the hilt and give them some random item that they can use. Also, when people ask for buffs or a bind nicely, I'll gladly go out of my way to do it. It's just the people that walk up and say "SoW me" that I just wanna /duel...
Back to the CGS, is he soloable by a 40th Warrior? I don't really want to become KoS with my druid in Ak'Anon. Also, what faction hits do you take for killing the Miners and clockworks in Sol?
I give the beggars some summoned food and water. Tell them it's all I have. usually works. If someone is rude while asking for a buff or sow, tell them you charge for them.
heh, happens to me to, people come up to me and say gg me to wc, well.. im in a group they can see that, i tell them sorry i am busy then they /ooc the zone saying HOW RUDE! and so on, so i hit /duel then they usually run away =) i help out newbies as much as i can, but its the ones that say give me your weapon that get to me )
would anyone get this shield for me, I can't because im only lvl 17 and i AM A druid. if anybody would, look for drahcirr on the veeshan server or e-mail me a superfly_14ca@yahoo.com

Are you seriously simply saying "Im not high enough level to get this item intended for higher level characters and I dont want to hunt or work to save to buy one so will someone loot it and give it to me?" BWAAAHHAAAHHAAA You got to be kidding. Thanks for the great laugh oh yeah LMAO ........ what a loser hahahaa...... The mighty druid..... hahahahhaahaha
Long boring debate. There is no right answer. I like to keep each up. I use this now instead of a ToV...+10AC in exchange for +1wis and +10 mana is a sweet deal to me. Plus I'd rather be seen as a Shaman carrying a shield than a shaman carrying a book.
After about 200 or so, Wisdom no longer has that much of an effect on mana, so at that point of difference is irrelevant. Course, by the time you have 200 Wisdom, you'll probably have better gear available to you than this anyways.
I am unsure how much of a difference it would make otherwise, as I play a Ranger as my main (my druid is still in the hard-core noob stage). Off the top of my head, tho, I'd say stick with ToV, as you should prolly be avoiding melee, in addition to the 6 stone difference in weight.
Alright, Wis casters, feel free to flame away if I've missed the mark this time :)

I've looked this item up on several differnt sites and all return the value as under 700pp. As low as 350pp. Makes it much more attainable. Sorry for the bad news if you're selling one.
I agree, I always see the CGS much lower than 700. I see it as low as 200pp, with 350 being the average, but Fennin Ro economy is terrible and prices are dropping like mad. These might go for more on other servers.

#Anonymous,
Posted:May 31 2001 at 10:32 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I wouldn't define 'twinked' like that, but ok...
Verant's definition of "Twinking" is that if a character has ANY item which they did not earn from a drop off of something they killed, either solo or as part of a like leveled group, as a "twinked" character...
So in that case EVERYONE of my character is a twink :-)
Well I don't know about Verant's definition of "Twinking", but Gordon has gone on record as saying that someone who buys something with money they gotten kills and quests has earned it just as if they killed the mob. That is what Verant want's and therefore that character is not "Twinked."
