Went down to get this for my necro. He was up when I arrived, but knew it wouldn't be that easy. Took popping him 5 times but finally dropped. Say roughly 2-3 hours or so in total.
Cleared out the PH twice while getting my Corrupted Fangs and he spawned, got my bag! I love finding things like this that most of us either forgot about or never knew of in the first place.
I got it on the fourth named spawn right next to the mining cart. You can sit AFK just back from those three spawns and nothing wont agro. Kill PH/Spawn, set phone timer for 20 min, go do other work and come back. It was probably three hours give or take. One of the easier camps. Throwing skill went up to 40 on first stack of 100.
I got him to spawn twice in a row. Had to kill three place holders till he spawned and on the first spawn he only had the amulet. Seemed to be over 10min between each spawn but did not seem to be 20min as mentioned below. Second spawn, of course, had the Dusty Soriz Worker Pouch (and the amulet). Spawn point is correctly marked on the map as of this posting (www.mapfiend.net).
The pouch summons a stack of 100 Shissar Fangs each time.
Killed THO the night before then moved to ssra basement. There was someone camping basement so I logged in the basement. Just logged in this morning. Hilog was up, first kill and he dropped the pouch. Luck
Went through placeholder 3 times. Dropped: green metal, medallion then bag. Had to wait 5 hrs...Named spawned after every 4 ph...it was a looong boooring wait but worth it.
Hey if you want a great guide, just click on the link for Hilog Jarsath up top there. The post by mfbrownbear entitled everything you need to know is exactly that. My results.
Man this camp sucked butt. I did it yesterday and today 5/12/08 on druzzil ro.
Of note, I was there for 41 spawns, Saw Hilog 7 times. Sometimes going up to 9 PH's in between. Sucked. Got 3 green metals and 3 medallions and finally on number 41 got the bag.
The bag summons the fangs as advertised, BUT THER IS NO REQ or REC on the item, so don't wait till yer 55. I waited to 54 and camped my monk there while I boxed 70 sk/68 dr00d. VERY EZ, moderate difficulty breaking three after that cake, but I coulda broke with just the sk prolly.
Confirmed: Clickable from inventory before required level to equip. I got this for my monk when he was 45 or something. Nothing better until Stoneroot Starfish.
Just passed hour 24, thought I'd post an observation from a solo 67 monk with decent bazaar/cultural gear:
Three mobs you have to deal with that aggro in this corner. My first strategy was to get buffed up and let the two I dont care about beat on me while I drop PH or mob Jarsath himself, then FD after he dropped. This spawned Jarsath 4 times, no pouch.
Then I wiped not paying attention and decided to clear the camp and hold it. I did this for 6 hours, no Jarsath all PH.
Decided to go back to the original strategy, got Jarsath to pop almost every other mob so far since going back to it, 6 times and no pouch yet.
Just my experience, if it's random I've certainly had better success getting Jarsath up if I leave the other two mobs alone.
I finally got the pouch toady. It dropped on the 39th named. The named does appear to be a 1 in 4 spawn. So it took me almost 120 rotations, 1340 minutes (19.5 mins per spawn), or 39hrs.
From camping him with several diff ppl and toons here is my synopsis:
1. You can invis undead to his corner and then just deal with the 2 skele mobs there and the 1 roamer or you can just clear to him if you want. The first undead mob in that section is non aggro but the rest are KOS.
2. The spawn rate on the named seems to average out at 1 in 4 for Named to PH. 3. The drop rate on the Pouch from the Named seems to average out at 1 in 10 4. The drop rate on the green metal from named is about 1 in 5 5. The drop rate on the named scrappy amulet is a full 33% of the time with the remaining drops being misc junk or the new cultural drops.
6. All skeleton types run at low health and all are social so keeping one alive will prevent others from running. All are snarable slowable etc. None enrage/flurry/whatnot. Some have haste or run speed on and so they vary a little.
Hey guys. First off, I just want to let you know, this camp is terribly easy to keep under control.
I'm a 66 monk, and sometimes I have my 65 Shammy box in there with me, but not always. I am mostly Bazaar geared, and I can hold it solo pretty well, especially if I split the spawns, because it's only 3 mobs you gotta watch.
Without using any pots (haste/heal) I'm able to regen to full well before the next pop.The only thing that can be trouble is runners, but there are several ways to counter it. As a monk, or if you have a friend with a nuke, just blast that Leopard Claw or nuke or whatever as soon as it hits 20% and it'll slow down enough to not get far off. Some of these buggers do Spirit of cheetah and they can boogey into friends fast though. It is much easier and safer to simply have a way to snare or root. Most of the time, I switch out a Anklesmasher ( https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=8900 ) till it procs, and then you're safe. The other strats do work, and if you're not solo or feel like taking the hits of 2 at a time, feel free to just keep 1 skelly up, they won't run then.
Okay, all that aside, here's why this has been a horror camp for me: I've had over 20 Spawns and kills of the dude, no drop yet! Only one of the green metal things, everything else is that dang amulet. I know some other's get better luck, but for me, at this point it's less than a 5% drop rate off of Holig Jarsath. He usually spawns about every other time, but there have been times where I went 8 or 9 PH's in a row.
Maybe it doesn't drop anymore? Well, I'm daft and I'm got Homework to work on while I camp so I'll persevere.
hahaha sorry sakren but like always im the lucky one, 3 spawns is all it took for him to drop i was here for maybe an hour and 10 mins had a few ph's.
i rulez
but ya that whole thing bout the undead mobs running and fricking casting sow or w/e on themselves is ridiculous. but two boxing with a cleric makes things uber with snare and invis vs undead so its all good
I feel so guilty, I've been clearing these tunnels, on my second clear got this guy to pop, trying to get Strange Green Metal, he dropped pouch for me, took maybe 30 minutes, I feel so bad :[ welp, time to work up my throwing skill finally
It took me around 24 hours of total camp time to get this. I really wanted it for my Cleric since its one of the very few items that they can throw. I tried it out last night and it works really great. Even at Throwing(0), I was still able to do up to 23pts of damage per hit and could fire them off pretty fast.
While I was there a monk, a warrior, and another cleric came to check on camp. A cleric in my guild told me that it took her a week of camping to get hers.
Here is my data. The RNG was really ******** with me, I think!
First day (3 hours): Place Holder X2, Hilog Jarsath X1, PH 3, HJ 1, PH 2 Second day (12 hours): PH 36, HJ 1 Third day (7 hours): HJ 1, PH 2, HJ 1, PH 2, HJ 1, PH 3, HJ 1, PH 2, HJ 1, PH 2, HJ 1, PH 4 Forth day (1.5 hours): PH 3, HJ 1[/b]
PS: I was able to max my Throwing(295) in just a couple of days. There doesn't seem to be much of a change from Throwing(0) to Throwing(295) except possibly a slight change in success rate. At this point, I'm not sure that having this is anything more than a novelty for a cleric. I do not, however, regret the time I spent in getting this, despite my lousy luck with the RNG.
