No it does not.

If it changes your pet, shouldn't it be a Petamorph item?

It changes your pet OR summons a bone golem familiar, so its a petamorph / or summon item. meta = multiple effects, so makes sense
Don't Familiar use the same window as pets? So Petamorph makes sense too. IMHO

No. It's a new type of item. The pre-order items for RoF will be the same and this is likely going to be the norm in SC as well.
If you have no pet it summons a bone golem familiar. If you DO have a pet, is instead just casts a bone golem illusion on your pet. the familiar is statless it's just for fun.
Thus it's a multi-purpose kind of item, and not really a petamorph. So they gave it a new name.
