Killed around 20 place holders over 3 days before an enraged disciple spawned. He dropped the shield, which I took to a cleric friend (it is tradable). Came back to see if he was up again, which he was, and he dropped the shield again. Still a nice cleric clicky... can click while running from inventory, and the buff last 20 min. If you're going to camp this clicky, just park a high lvl alt at camp and log in several times a day to kill ph.. better than waiting around 20min each. Definitely expect alot of ph's.
It's the weekend, i have no life, so i decided to try and get this levitation shield for my wife's cleric. I have been here 17 hours, have gotten 3 enraged disciples to spawn, and all 3 dropped the STUPID bowl. In fact the last spawn was one, and i was so pissed i figured i'd put a comment about it.
I think these drop rates are horrendous for the average spawn rate of this mob. So you figure just about every 6 hours this freaken mob spawns, that's if you're killing every cycle which takes 20 minutes to respawn, and the bowl which nobody will use drops just about every time.
I suppose since the wifes at work and i have nothing to do anyway on my weekend i'll continue to camp it, if i wasn't camping this for her i'd probally be camping some other mob i'd suppose, so actually I dont know what the hell i'm complaining about :) oh yeah the drop rate, it blows hard!
trying to get this on my cleric. we went to the temple, up stairs, right hallway, up more stairs to get to loc near where evilhoot posted as 312.32, 316.88, 30.11 & i was wondering if anyone knows which mob is actually the PH or even what the respawn time is on the mobs?
So, I ran into CT today to familiarize myself with the zone. I wasn't exactly sure where the room was or what I was looking for. I had invis drop once to see invis mobs, killed those. Then went to invis again when I was attacked by stuff in the other room. I looted a mob thinking I'd clean up around while another one was still beating on me when I saw a little disk thing and thought that it couldn't be. It was the shield! I immediately linked to my guild saying omg. I didn't even realize I was attacking the right mob or that I was so close to the room. Total time in zone about 15 mins. I wasn't even sure if I was going to log on...
I went to CT to camp this item on saturday. I killed one placeholder and the Named popped. And he dropped it on his first kill. It took me almost as long to get to the camp as to kill one PH and the named. Total time in zone 30 minutes.
This is an extremely RARE drop. If you plan on camping this...be ready to pitch a tent, and bring some snacks, its going to be a while for you to see this, unless you simply get mega lucky..in that case go buy a lottery ticket in rl <grin>
As for pricing, well it is worth what ever anyone is willing to pay for an instant clicky levi from inventory slot, the stats who cares.
So before you give anyone a hard time about the price on this item, go and spend some time your self wasting away camping this, and maybe then you will appreciate what it is worth.
This is not an extremely rare drop - the mob itself is a rare spawn but shield of stridings are probably just as comman as his other drop or maybe a tiny bit rare
once you're in the upper throne room, there's 2 parts to the hallway: the first behind the first door on the left, which holds 2 justicars and 1 protector usually. the middle mob is the only PH for AED. the other part normally holds 2 necros and 1 protector. the way myself (70 rogue) and 70 cleric did it was to clear once to get to the hallway for camp. then instead of clearing, use Eyes to target and paci then pull instead of clearing everything. easy camp imo.

this guy spawned on first clear today and dropped the Shield for me - talk about great luck - makes up for the whole night I spent camping the mob who drops barbed rubicite pauldrons but didnt spawn all night for me - its boring if these guys dont spawn but I got real lucky I guess.
Update: Spawned twice in a row - this time dropped bowl of viscious ooze
Update: must be my lucky day - just looted sanguine tome minutes after looting the shield (from tae ew bloodfiend) :)
Yo, Okay. So I've heard alot about this shield...I was told its worth 300k+ On Tarew Marr...Only because there was only 2 in game, and they dont drop anymore...I got cheaped out of a deal, so can anyone tel me a price for this ??
i just got this in Uper throne room. he spawns in the room secent to top, as you go up you will reach the top where the warmaster or whatever spawns in the lower room there is a door... he spawns in there.. the Loc is 312.32, 316.88, 30.11
Mapfiend Map of Cazic Thule The PDF version is easier to read if you have Adobe Acrobat on your computer, just be aware that they reversed the signs on the vertical axis (+ is - and - is + on the up and down line).
Okay I've read all the posts and nobody has explained if the effect is useable by all classes from the inventory.
As a monk this would make for a nice junk buff, if we can click it from the inventory.
Now before I get 10 replies saying "Why would a monk be able to use the effect? It's CLR/DRU/SHM only." certain items can be used from the inventory (where your bags are) even if your class can't use. Example: Amulet of Necropotence.
This can only be click by who can weild it , yes so only cleric , dr00ds and shamans could do , and ofcourse click from inventory , it is not " must equip ".
I farm in here with some friends a lot, and, while we haven't gotten this shield specifically, we've gotten quite a few other clickies from this zone, and they cannot be used by other classes.
Since pretty much all of the items that drop in this zone follow the same rules, I'd say that it can't be used by a monk.
I've owned this shield for awhile, but just now posting some info on it...mainly the effect.
The stats are ho-hum quite frankly. The Tae Ew Shield that is smithed is better than this, and there's tons of em being sold in the bazaar by tradeskill folks for roughly 7k nowadays. What makes this shield better is, of course, the Levitation effect.
This effect is self only, requires no bat-wing, and is insta-click. Best of all? This doesn't need to be equipped to cast. Just like J-boots, you can click this in inventory, making it much, much sweeter. If you're a cle like me, this also means you gain the ability to LEVITATE freely /cheer.
I cannot price-check this, but understand that this is the mobs (it's been so long, I forgot name but it is an Upper Throne Room named) very rare drop, and these are NEVER sold on the Nameless. The effect is not "godly" but make no mistake...just like an Eyepatch of Plunder for melee, you can't really appreciate the convenience of the effect until you have one yourself.
p.s. The graphic in inventory is a smooth-rounded shield, but on your character it's a dark red shield w/ a skull in the center, just like the aura of battle shield from PoFear. I wish they would make the graphic the smooth-rounded one instead of the skull-shield.
The group I was in got this shield today. It is tradeable. The others in the group were ready to roll for it by using classes. I was a shaman, there was a druid, and a cleric in the group. I asked everyone if they usually NBG items as they were in a guild. They said yes, so I said the cleric should get it then.
We all had Tae Ew Shields, which has better stats, and seeing blood drops in that camp most players may end up with one of those Tae Ew's too. But of the 3 classes only the cleric can't lev, so thats a minor plus. But more important, in a raid heal chain where an instant cast item is needed, and that shield has wisdom and mana, I can't see how a cleric shouldn't get first refusal.
I would say all 3 should be able to roll on it. Here is why i would like it as a shammy. AC is good on it, shammys tend to pull aggro early when mobs are slowed and the clicky lev means i don't have to carry bat wings. The rest of the stats are so-so at best. I would probably pass.
utr is upper throne room in CT, i went there once since the patch and it was pretty hairy, lots of lizards close together, probably other nameds up there as well but we didn't live long enough to see any. gonna have to try again soon, i just got levitation scroll for my shammy so this would make my cleric wet her pants.
This may not be the most Uber shield in the game..But as a Vicar Ill tell you it will be sweet for a cleric to finally have Levitation..Exspecially when running thru places like DL and such..Not many lev items out there a cleric can use..There is the Pegi Feather Cloak but why would someone want to take a mage epic item unless they only care about themselves? which in that case you shouldnt be a cleric..well good hunting and safe journey to all.
A long time ago they removed instaclick levitation items by adding a casting time to them to remove certain exploits. Either the latest changes to levitation removes that exploit or they forgot when they made this item to put a casting time on it.
See the instant cast Levitation? Can you say awesome for raids in WW with dispelling mobs. Not to mention on RZ, would be unlootable unlike other non ToV drops such as Bracer of the hidden and Granist Earing
Levitation is the new Luclin-era levitation spell that does not require a bat wing as a reagant. Levitate is the old levitation spell that requires a bat wing as a reagant.
The usefulness of this shield against dispelling MoBs depends on whether or not the shield's effect is targetable. If it's self-only, it's fantastic; if not, it requires targeting yourself and then clicking the shield, which is ok but less than ideal.
You do realize you can use (with default keys) the TAB key to cycle between targetting your target and yourself, right? That having been said, targeting shouldn't be much of a problem.
Ok, now that's over a few comments: Nice AC! Admitidly you could get a better wis item for the off hand for any of the three usable classes but its a nice combination of AC, stats, save bonuses, and more importantly at this level of the game, +HP and +Mana. If it isn't rediculously hard to get you'll probably see a lot of shammy followed closly by Druids wearing this shield. I belive most groups would give the shield to the shammy first as they tend to get attacked more than the other two classes in raid situations. Though, admitidly Druids probably spend more time getting hit if they are still solo-ing (which IS possible at this level) and probably would get as much if not more use out of this shield. (yeah yeah, clerics get beat around too. Well, clerics who can't find a way to work out agro managment with their main tank that is. If the cleric is getting hit, it's Everybodies fault not just the clerics)
It isn't always possible for a cleric to avoid getting hit. There are quite a few mobs in this game that I like to call %&^&*#$% that go balistic the minute that CH lands.
Not a whole lot of them, but there are some that the only way to get them off me is to DB, then atone them, or have the chanter mem blur them, or something dumb like that.(or have a 56+ SK who knows what he's doing with HT up)

I could see this going to a cleric for the levitation because the other 2 classes can already. Good AC,could use a bit more wis but with the mana it balances out... and some minor saves
