I think you have a bug in the cost here, 4,611,686,018,427,417,600pp may be the grand total on an entire server of available pp, but no one player could carry that much, much less buy this piece for that price.
some infos about the enraged amydalan: first of all : he supereasy to kill , if your group is able to make it that far ... not slowable ,hits for 300 something , has very low attack for a yellowcon (to lvl60 player) monster . can be probably duoed by a warrior/pally/sk/monk + cleric combo .... he has tons of hp. but as i said he has low attack and rarely hitting for full damage. reaching the place to kill him is hard, but the monster itself is a joke compared to all the monsters you had to kill to reach him. the camp is VERY boring , if you plan just to kill amygdalans , because the exp is totally crap compared with the rest of the zone. they have huge amounts of HP and they quite lowlevel.
Well, the monster is much harder than any monster you had to kill to reach him, by a long way. But you can kill him with lesser numbers than you'd want to bother running up through the courtyard and pyramid with. A friend and I have killed him, both of us two-boxing, a few times. I've killed him in other groups many times and gotten a number of the masks. One of the better, if not the best, melee droppable masks out at this point. Never an amygdalan staff.
Getting him without getting a single friend as an add-on proved troublesome to us. I doubt a cleric duo would find it easy at all. I seem to remember crippling him fine myself(shaman) every time.
The camp is indeed super boring, though enjoyable easy once you get it down to singles via timing attacks on first one side of the top of the pyramid, then the other. The experience is lousy though. That makes it very boring. Especially when you know that nearby lizards drop tae ew bloods and, at the bottom of the pyramid, fleshgrinders and cure poison rings(we've gotten both, the fleshgrinders not terribly rare either). It's not really a place you'd want to camp; we've tried it several times and given up. Just check with tracking every once in a while, and be on your way if the mob isn't up.
A friend and I trio this guy. My friend two boxes a cleric and a shaman (both 65) and I play my wizard (also 65). He is EXTREMELY magic resistant. The only nukes I can get through on him are Lures, and he is unslowable. We haven't managed to get malo on him either, unfortunately, although we've tried plenty of times.
A cleric duo can do it easily enough as long as one is a tank and the cleric pacifies the mob to his side (using various camera angles to target it).
The mask seems to drop about two times for every one staff, so it is his common drop.
Getting to the camp is difficult, and the camp itself is boring. We usually just kill lizards while waiting on the PH to respawn (about every 20 minutes or so) and gather pieces for the Medallion of the Arcane Scientists quest. Every piece except the quill drops up there, so it is a good quest to do while waiting on the mob to spawn.
Okay, I'm getting tells in game asking me what dropped this. Dropped by: Enraged Amygdalan. Its at the top of the pyramid in 4c. I'm not too worried about having to compete for it if I go back simply because the area is pretty damned hard and won't be camped 24/7 anytime soon.
The mob (blue at 60) doubles (I think) for 300+, flurries like the master of the guard in Sleepers and can't be slowed. I think our enchanter said it couldn't be crippled either. He comes with a non-enraged variant buddy or did for us. He hits for 300'ish and can be slowed, etc.
We had a group of all 60's, all melees wielding primal or better and it was still a tough single group fight.
