Well this guy was easy for my lvl 58 Ranger but not until he gave me a few licks. It was how I went about approaching the corral that got me screwed up. First off, if you are a Ranger/Druid in wolf form, drop that crap because you will draw aggro on mobs that normally wouldn't (like invaders, fiends, and furious owlbears), instead opt to go with normal sow or get Spirit of Bih'li from a shaman. Next, go to the opening of the corral but stand back a good bit to where you are clear of any aggro radius of the mobs inside or the wanderers out. Strafe (hold down CTRL and push left and right) until you see a mob come into play and target it, this should be your mob. If it is, run around the backside of the corral, minding to stay clear of the walls, and get just within casting range of the mob. If it helps just keep clicking your spell icon until you begin casting as you move, to find out if you are close enough. When you're spell lands on the mob it will pass right thru the wall and will not bring any friends with it. I obviously didnt need any of the items, except that I wanted a FT item without having to roll for it, so I camped my alts at the SV entrance and re-logged em when I found something good.

Case in point...

This item dropped last night after the zone hadn't been touched all day, basically. Was first time running war and came out like a mad man....except no FT item 8( .
My 1st try.....

I tried this last night, looking for a specific drop. Since the wolves had taken over when i first got there, I helped them finish off the zone. The Wolf Boss near VS outpost actually dropped 2 of these same masks.....I was the only one there, and yes, they disappear very quickly. We're on patch-day, but I'll repost under Discussions when I've done the mob I wanted and possibly the whole zone.....

This drops off the "Prince" of the wolves, forget his name. When the wolves controll all three camps the vah shir outpost is overan by them (or the other 2 if they controll all camps) and a bunch of unsnareable guards pop there along with the "prince" who is a nasty **** but is snareable, and he has never summoned me. Last time I did this My friend 59 druid snared the prince and it agroed all the guards on him, so he ran around with them while I "58 bst" proceded to lay the smaketh down on him, didnt even have to heal myself. Droped this mask and my druid friend looted it, less wis than his starruby veil but more stats too.

Pulled him from the outpost with my 55 druid. What I did was target him, ran behind the outpost then snared him so I wouldn't grab agro from the guards. Mob name was Gnalick and recieved this mask from him.
Woul it be too much to ask?

Would it be too much to ask that you post informaion about the zone in the section,,say under mobs?

Because I would be real interested in finding actual information about who drops this and where he spawns, in stead of having the same discussion about how the zone war doe(never did), does not work.

Just a humble 2cp.
quest? i think not

there is no quest. about every 20 minutes while in this zone you will notice that some one, be it the grimlings, owlbears, or the wolves, will be attacking some one else, you pick wich side you want, for this item it would be the wolves, so everytime the wolves are attacking some one else you have to go help them kill what ever it is that they are attacking. you will be non kos to the invading wolves but will be kos to the wolves that are already in caves or what not. but dont worry when your side is being attacked, deffenders will allways win, that is why you have to help when your side you choose is attacking. anyways after you help the wolves take over the owlbear caves and the grimlings to the south their prince and some bad **** guards will take over the vah shir out post , you go in kill them all and loot this mask off the wolf prince. brain drops of the owlbear prince and some crappy dagger drops off the grimling prince

Agreed, you do not have to do a quest to make the events occur. Like duluvian said, it just happens about every 20 minutes or so, one of the factions will attack the other. If you want all owlbears, wait till they attack another faction and help them. It is kinda fun to spend the night in the zone and help one side conquer the whole zone. Then of course kill the main guy, (just outside of the kitty city in the tent area), to reset the zone. Dont forget to loot the main guy fast though, his corpse will disappear very shortly. (Something like 30 seconds).
What Quest

this and most of the new stuff you see from Hollowshade comes from a semi-scripted event that happens after you have made one of the sonic wolf bane weapons, you show it to your quest giver to get your Journeyman's Cloak and are then told to seek out an NPC in Hollowshade who untill a few patchs back couldn't be found (he's by the zone to Grimling forest now.) while the details are still pretty fuzzy, you end up starting a war between the owlbears, sonic wolves and grimlings.
About every 20mins or so one side attacks the other untill one side controls all three of the bases (bear cave, wolf cave, and chief camp) then that faction takes over the Vah Shir fort near Shar Val which repops with guards of that faction and a named NPC. this mask drops from the named sonic wolf that spawns in the fort at the end. hope this helps =)

Please tell me what quest you're talking about. I would love to see a Ring War-atyle scrap in Hollowshade. How do you get this to happen?

More of an event than a quest.
The factions involved are, Sonic Wolves (NE corner in east wall) Owl Beasts (NW corner in north wall) and Grimlings (South East Corner, South wall) these 3 fight each other. What you will see is a zone wide message of one side getting nervous or aggressive and then a load of defenders will appear at the entrance to the cave/camp, the attackers will arrive and, from what I have seen, get beaten off.
AFAIK the only way to change this is to kill the defenders before the attackers get there. Be warned, the defenders are tough and summon, no they are not anywhere near 50th but they do summon.

If you are looking to hunt there then I'd suggest taking on the wolves (assuming they are still in house, as of 2am GMT yesterday, on BB, Wolves held Their own cave and the Owl bear one and Owlbears owned the Grimling Village) Growlic drops some nice drops (Elder Wolf Hide for example) and a group in their thirties could probably cope with the cave.
If the Grimlings are in force then be careful, they have Wizards and Shaman, are all highly MR (need to tash to get a 50th level Druid to stick snare or Ice on any and had some almost totally resist Doljons rage) as well as often being SoW'd and DS'd due to aforementioned casters. Owlbears aren't as tough as Grimlings, they hit harder and have a root spell effect but the lack of real casters lowers the danger there. The wolves are just pure melee, no spell effects at all, dish out the most melee damage but that is easier to take than 160pnt DD's (the most my 52 War was hit for by a Grimling Manacaster) The sonic wolves do NOT see invis like their bigger cousins in Ten. Mntns.

The zone is often farmed (I have been there for a few days, drops are better than a lot items I possess, underachiever and casual player is my excuse :)) I will always move out for an exp group so if a high level is in place farming, ask politely, many will move on for you.

36th Iksar SK here, hunting Hollowshade yesterday. The wolves that had taken over the Owlbear Cave (Sonic Warwolves) sure saw invis by the con I took...
