To the fellow above that said this should not go to a monk because it has wis casters listed.

Get used to it in the post 50 game. Just about all my upgrades as a monk are now DRU MNK BST.

All my armor right now has wisdom. There is not a single peice of armor I can upgrade to that is likely not just as good for a druid.

It will go to whoever earns it because if you knew anything at all about monks you would know this is just as good an upgrade for us as it is for druids.

I play both a 62 druid and a 62 monk so I think I am qualified to speak on this.

Anyone know why a half-elf Druid cannot equip this? Said my race, class and/or deity was the reason...didn't see a deity restriction?

The one I saw in the bazaar had required level 51 on it. So if you are below lvl 51 you can't equip.
WARRIOR

This is obviously a warrior item.
lvl 51
# Jul 27 2002 at 10:22 AM Rating: Default
As a side note, this has a rec. level of 51. And as usual on beasty gear they mean it. I tried to drop this on my lvl 45 beasty and could not equip :/
RE: lvl 51

You cannot equip items from CT unless you have the rec level...

That is incorrect, if it says recommended level you can drop it on anyone who it says can equip it, you just get less stats. If it says Required level, Well, that's different
RE: lvl 51
# Jun 06 2003 at 3:23 AM Rating: Decent
Just about all the CT drops I have seen lately state 'Required level 51' so it appears they have updated and/or made the necessary text changes in agreement with the fact that no toon under 51 can equip =)

items from CT do not follow those rules however, you cannot equip the item, for stat loss or otherwise.

Beastlord!
# Jun 03 2002 at 8:53 AM Rating: Default
I feel this is more suited towards a beastlord than a monk IMO

not nodrop
# May 02 2002 at 11:33 PM Rating: Excellent
obtained it on 02/05/02 in CT and it is not NODROP

Frightchaser dropped it, he is just past the raptor pit, dark blue to L60, out group of L60 war, L56 war, L60 clr, L60 enc, L60 rogue, and L60 dru, had an easy time with him, hits hard, but only one CH was neccesary

Actually, realize one thing before you go saying Monks couldn't use this, or that it's not all that good for a Monk. Please realize the following:

The only non-NToV Monk usable tunics that beat this are:
'Icicle Tunic'
'Ice Burrower's Skin' (very RARE drop these days)
'Phase Spider Carapiece' (weighs 5.0 lbs though)
'Fungus Covered Scale Tunic' (aka 'Fungi Tunic')

So, while I don't disagree that it is also good for the listed Caster classes, it IS indeed good for a Monk that has no ToV stuff.

Peace.

[Edit: Had the wrong Fungi Tunic listed originally]

Shaded Hide Tunic has 22ac.

But I upgraded my grey flesh tunic to one of these. The red look is kinda nice too, don't see it around much.

Grey flesh tunic > This thing
#REDACTED, Posted: Jul 09 2002 at 10:01 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) If you, as a Monk, want to wear a 5 weight Tunic, be my guest, but I wouldn't waste all that weight for just 8ac more, 5 more str, and losing all the other stats.

uhh, This thing is much better than Grey Flesh tunic last time i checked
RE: Re: Monks Please

This thing owns grey flesh tunic in every way. Sure it lacks ONE stat (omg! 5 agi is so much!) but it has more AC and +svd.

MONKS? please...
# Mar 19 2002 at 5:00 AM Rating: Decent
hmmm, something is seriously messed in this game when a nice ac/wis/mana/hp tunic that 4 of the 5 classes listed for are wis casters and people think it should go to a monk. here's a quarter, buy a clue, any clue will do.

and before you flame me, use the resources of this site to do a search for druid usable tunics that score better than this one. get the point? monks, heh, good one...
RE: MONKS? please...
# Aug 28 2002 at 10:09 PM Rating: Default
i am not totally awareof all druid gear (having never played one past level 11) but this seems more suited for monk/bst than a druid. 5wis 40 mana are the only mana modifiers, which is ok, but not THAT awesome. the other stats are nice, but since they are mainly melee stats, they would much better fit a monk or bst. and the ac? thats nice ac for a monk and beastlord. druids have their own ac buffs.

use those resources you mentioned to look up high end monk tunics, and there really arent that many that are easily obtainable.

Druids Don't need High AC. If they know thier character, they should not be getting hit in group melee. As for quad kiting, getting hit is a risk they chose to take.

Clerics who are in this zone camping locations probably have way better gear than this (hopefully).

The toss up comes between, Shaman, Beastlords and Monks.

On the one hand, becuase of huge aggro caused by slowing, this is a nice item for them to have. But on the other hand, like druids they tend to be buffers and dotters if there are chanters in the house.

Beastlords and monks get my vote in the order listed.

I would rather have our FD puller in good AC/resist gear when pulling to fend off the blows as they are bringing back the mobs.. Nothing worse than hearing the Monk just bit it while pulling (X mob) and having to risk Trains in order to get his body out.

Beastlords are blessed with dual wield/kick and several weapons skills... and thier caps are fairly high in all of them. Unless they are the only healer class in any group, they should be right in there beating on the mobs with everyone else. Therefore calling for a descent amount of ac/hps. THis would be a hella upgrade to the rather meager chest items available right now for this class.

As a Beastlord myself Id like this. But as far as standing back and being main healer? Dear god no! Ranger healing and Beastlord healing are as effective as watching the grass grow.

Meaning Any group using the Beastlord as a Main Healer...DIES. So they should be out in the fight after Dotting or slowing.

As far as the Hide goes its a decent piece. I would hope that people would give the Meeles the first shot at it. You should look for Beastlord armor BTW. It falls in to the category of mostly crap, But then most of the new stuff comming out falls into that category, take Jaggedpine quest armor for example. Lvl 45 zone dropping excellent Lvl 10 to 20 armor.
Frightchaser's Hide > RotLC

Damn thing is 6% better than RotLC!

Of course, by the time you can get one of these, you'll probably be working on RotWF already.

I'm a shaman and I looted this bp cause it was gonna rot anyway. We didn't have a monk along, had a SK for feign pulling. Was kool tho. Tunic has a nifty super dark red look to it, unique graphic. Looked good on me! Something to have in the bank anyway since I've had better for quite some time.
Anyways . . . the monk who gets this is probably gonna have better already. It was far from easy to get. I had a group of uber lvl 60s in mostly NTOV gear and we still lost two people in that fight. Mebbe a monk twink could get it . . . invis works to there where it drops near the silver temple.

I know the Monk who got this. He's in my guild. His name is Chilau, and he's happy with it. I hope to get one sometime in the future. Awesome BP.
